Can we get a horror game thread going?
post your favorite scary parts from a game
Does P.T. save your progress when you quit, or have save files? Apparently I missed a lot of shit during my first run through.
>Afraid Of Monsters: DC
>the whole mod
It's like the worst parts of PT, non-stop, and you can bet your ass you gotta fight every single monstrosity you meet. With limited supplies.
Well, yes. That's why I was asking which to watch. Not sure which doesn't have commentary and I don't want to dig through dozens of videos on youtube to find the one video I'm looking for.
If you can't play the game yourself, then one without commentary.
I've played it already so I'm curious if there's a decent run with commentary somewhere, preferably one where the player doesn't pause the game constantly like a faggot.
It saves at the beginning of each loop. You have to beat the game or delete your save data from the ps4 to restart. Make sure you look up
this one messed with me quite a bit, the door lock was spooky but the moment when the reflection stops and everything goes to shit on the wall i about quit.
this to me the event somewhat expected, but the sound really wasn't.
Wish I had a webm of this, or at least a better screenshot.
Yeah. I got to the point where I just kept taking screenshots, losing all feeling of fear.
yeah 10/10 good game until the last puzzle, grinded the pacing to a halt until i just looked up the ign video to see what happens.
Jesus fuck I'm gonna hate myself when they release the official walkthrough and it's so piss easy.
Why do they even bother with shitty jump scares, just gross me out with shit like this.
The jump scares don't bother me at all but stuff like this actually makes my stomach turn a bit.
There's a save file in the data management section of the ps4 options which would probably reset everything if you deleted it. Just make sure you delete the cloud save too if you have ps+.
>sounds like she's pissing on your unconscious body
When I saw the door knob turn slowly when I was looking in the mirror. Oh man. That stuff is good.
You can't really have scary games anymore. At least on a wide scale. Imagine if something like SH2 was released in this day and age, people would complain about how they couldn't get James to walk around right to no way to get head/armshots.
Say a spooky game gets green lighted on Steam or whatever. A handful of people will play it and be all "Yeah man this is spooky." Then Hernandez will write and article about it and say "This game was spooky but also raped me." Suddenly it's a cult hit and Microsoft buys the sequel as a Bone exclusive and we get what is essentially RE7.
>that part where
she appears in the window
>that part where
she appears in the mirror
10/10 would be spooked again
For some reason I have a thing for low budget horror/surreal games. There is just something about them I find oddly fascinating.
That might be either you trying to move your head with a broken neck, or you pissing yourself as you die.
Also, excellent touch in the next loop when you can kind off see your shadow on a wall and your neck is clearly broken and twitching.
I feel like I'm at the final loop. All that happens is the clock strikes for midnight and then maybe the woman is in the hallway or by the door depending on my positioning. The baby laughs sometimes for reasons I dont know and then I can figure out anything
Horror 101: The scariest possible enemy is another player.
It's like they took an actual nightmare someone had, and made a video game out of it
Yes, you're on the final loop. To finish it you have to make the baby laugh three times. The first laugh happens when you wait for everything to get quiet and then take ten paces. The third triggers if you stand completely still while the controller rumbles and then examine the phone. After you trigger all three laughs the phone will start ringing. Answer it by zooming in on it and then exit the loop and the game is over. The only problem is, most people can never get to the third because no one knows the proper criteria for triggering the second. Personally, I got the second laugh while on the pause screen. I've seen others say they got it for examining certain objects while certain sound effects played, and others for shouting certain things into the microphone while near the ghost.
After the clock strikes midnight you have to trigger the baby laugh twice without alerting the ghost, then the controller will vibrate at which point don't touch any controls. Then there'll be a third baby laugh and the phone will ring. Pick it up with r2 I think and that's it after you go through the door. The first laugh is really easy just walk around and it'll happen. The 2nd is what no one can figure out how exactly to trigger it.
Can someone fill me in on this? I don't have a PS4 but from what I gather this is from the "Player Trailer" of the new Silent Hill? Kojima is a ruse master but can't think of much he's done to screw around with fans since the Raiden reveal for MGS4. Maybe it's an improvement from Gauntlet Hill but I would have imagined Kojima of all people at Konami might have a bit more insight on what makes a SH.
Needs to be posted.
It's in the filename: Morbus.
Add multiplayer to the game. Done.
he's also working with Guillermo Del Toro iirc, and it literally says Silent Hills in the demo so I don't think he's fucking around with this one outside of the game design itself
>Add multiplayer to the game. Done.
not even, you'd either need an enemy player who can actually act in a horrifying manner or design the game so masterfully that the player is immediately put into the mindset to overpower another player in a horrifying manner
even then, who the fuck is going to play as the unwitting bumblefuck instead of the monster? you could make it some tense, atmospheric PvP game where players are on even footing but a game that tries your nerves like that wouldn't be too fun to constantly play and it would die out pretty quickly
maybe i'm just being shortsighted about this, or maybe i'm overthinking it
An "indie" horror game called P.T. was announced at Gamescom with a trailer that was just people getting scared playing it. It was also announced a Playable teaser was available. After you "beat" it you wake up at the start at which point you have to do a really hard puzzle that was brute forced and no one has found a reliable way to replicate it yet, at which point it's revealed it's actually the next Silent Hill by Kojima and Del Toro.
>playing this yesterday
>get neck broken
>hear her breathing behind my left shoulder
>turn around in the dark room outside of the hall where you stand up
>table with paper bag
>blood on bottom of paper bag
>it starts talking in a deep evil voice and the bag moves as the voice speaks
>you'd either need an enemy player who can actually act in a horrifying manner
easier done than said. Give a player unlimited power and tell him to stalk the other, and you've got yourself an abomination on the same level as any spooky NPC.
>who the fuck is going to play as the unwitting bumblefuck instead of the monster
You REALLY haven't played many multiplayer horror games. It's like tag: the players switch roles every round, so the monster acts differently every time. I heartily recommend buying Garry's Mod. Stop It, Slender!, parts of Ultimate Chimera Hunt, Murder, Garry's Horror and of course Morbus are all EXCELLENT examples of what I'm trying to tell you.
>In a horror binge
>Played most of the non-indie shit or point and click PC horror games
>Don't like emulating PS2 games because I'd rather just buy the game for my PS2
Any one have any ideas on what to play? I've been playing through The Cat Lady, but it's not spooky at all
holy christ, I need to play this
the reasons to get a PS4 just keep piling up
that is fucking atrocious, she literally just appears out of nowhere.
anyone notice when the radio says "The father hung himself with a garden hose he found in the garage"
At the same time there's another Radio voice saying "The father hung himself with an umbilical cord (he found) in the garage"
Not sure if that's what it says in parenthesis
i've been trying to play through Siren, but the gameplay frustrates me way before i have time to be scared
why is it always one thing or another?
good spooks but bad gameplay, or tolerable gameplay but no spooks
It is, if the person playing Slender is at all experienced. Since he can freely teleport to areas outside of the players' fields of view and can only reveal himself when not seen by any players, it's impossible to accurately gauge when and where you are safe.
You know what, there is no pleasing you faggots.
Jump scares can be a part of the game and it is the absolutely only part you chuckle fucks will focus on.
P.T. for example is atmospheric and trippy. The moans, the creaks, the things dancing out the corner of your eye, the baby crying and laughing, and the feel of continuing down the same hallway over and over again.
Do you comment on that? Nope.
You comment on the jump scares.
Same thing happened when Dead Space first came out. The way the ishimura was laid out, the setting, the sounds, the light effects, all of it led to an intense and scary game, but /v/ just bitched because it had jump scares.
You and everyone who thinks like you just need to stay the fuck away from gaming. Go watch movies and read books, you fucking tools.
Actually know she doesn't. From the start of the loop you can see a shadow bouncing off the walls from behind you and hear footsteps. She is following you until you look 360 degrees around and then pops up.
Kotaku: IZ JUS A CLUMP OF CELLS U RACIS WHITE PRIVILEGES MUTHAFUCKA!
Kojima: You no rike it?
Actually, it happened for a reason. She hangs around the house, and if you let her touch you the stays behind you which you can see if you look at your shadow. Next time you turn around that happens.
Fuck you SO MUCH
I had finally forgotten about that movie
>This looks pretty good
>Starts getting SPOOKY
>Christ, Is this it?
>See baby, Fuck that is ugly looking
>So...I need to look at shit?
>Look and look some more
>Feel like my thumb is going to break
>30 minutes go by
>Quit and delete
This thing sucked cock and only faggets that didn't play SH 1-4 would find it 'scary' or fucking good.
That reminds me of this one round I played where everyone in the server literally stayed in a room while a couple of people blocked the doors by facing away from the entrance so that Slender couldnt kill anyone. We literally just spent thirty minutes wasting time until an admin told us to stop it.
This, he didn't even expect us to know about Silent Hills yet. He need to raise his expectations of his audience. Everyone figured out Phantom Pain was a Metal Gear game within minutes of the trailer premiering, and he expected people to be tricked by that one for months.
Is P.T coming to any other platform? I really don't want to get a PS4 to play such a small demo.
Sweet Jesus. I must of passed that fucker a hundred times knowing it was smiling watching me go past him over n over n over again
>What is that?
>Trying to take a sip
>Blood splash onto screen
>Freaks the fuck out
>"I can't do it anymore babe, It's too damn realistic, I'm done"
Any more funny reaction vids to P.T. like this to share guys?
I would not have gotten through this thing without a good song to cheer me up and keep me brave.
I've played horror games or games with horror elements for years.
I've managed to get through every single one of them.
But I bitch the fuck out with this game. Can't do it man. Just can't do it.
Ah Siren, that games biggest problem is it's difficulty. It's got great atmosphere but dying so often makes it far less scary. Have you tried Kuon or Fatal Frame?
The Ice Pick game? I was kinda turned off buy the art style so I never checked it out. I guess I should
Sometimes, the greatest fear is from uncertainty and not from babies in sinks or zombies licking at your face.
Me and a buddy just triggered the second laugh 2 times in a row. After the first laugh we tried reading the poem on the photograph by the clock out loud into the mic. I'm curious if anyone else can get this to work.
It does move. In that pic, the mouth moves with the dialogue.
On a side note, is there any way to reset your progress in P.T.? I'm at the final loop and can't get the phone call to trigger, and a buddy of mine wants to see it from the start.
Another new schoolers defending the mighty P.T.
I was never into it. It looked nice and that is it. If you couldn't see where it was going aftre the 2nd time you passed through the door you're as fucking stupid as the people playing this on YT.
There are two different screams that can play when the mannequin loses its head.
One is Heather's death scream when she falls into a pit, the other is just a random woman screaming. No idea what causes one to play over the other.
I was watching my bedroom door for days after this. My cousin could have made a huge mask like Eustis uses in Courage the Cowardly dog and fucking scared me to death during that period.
there were tons of wc3 maps that pulled this off. granted, calling them scary is a bit of a stretch due to the presentation of the game, but if you were to copy parasite or any of the other well known maps and drop the player down, change up the control scheme etc, it could work. those maps also relied on misdirection i suppose, but once people started dying and things started to go terribly wrong all around, it was tense as fug.
> That alien fetus looking thing
I know that Silent Hill jokes about it, but what if there were actual aliens who've had experiences with the town? It'd be weird knowing that the craziness doesn't just stop with your average mentally/emotionally crippled people, but even fucks with any other sentient race who's unfortunate enough to stumble on it.
I want a horror game where the main character is in a wheelchair. Having your mobility limited like that would add an interesting dynamic to trying to avoid whatever enemies the game features and navigating the environment.
It's not even really a quick look, he just pulled it from Spookin with Scoops, so there's still hope there'll be a normal quick look or it'll be on the friday show or something.
I'll be waiting anon, watching.
>jumpscare out of nowhere
>jumpscare looks like a total different video instead of real time
What a lazy cheap trash. I hope silent hills wont be anything like that.
I thought they were from the curse or whatever the alien put on their ancestors for eating it. I might be thinking of a different game
Well, in one ending to... the second game, I think, the last guy gets teleported to a world composed ENTIRELY of Shibito, and it's implied that this is where they're coming from.
That was the whole point. Kojima even said it hurt having to lower the quality, but they wanted it to feel like an indie horror title to throw people off the Silent Hill scent.
>favorite scary parts from a game
The part in one of the Fatal Frame games when you go down that winding staircase, and when you reach the bottom, a female ghost falls from the top, smacking against the floor. Then she attacks you. But every now and then, she'll disappear for a moment, only to come plunging down and smacking into the floor again. It was a very loud, jarring noise.
I think that in the backstory of the first game, it's heavily implied that some kind of alien horror fell from the stars during a mass famine, and the starving villagers of the town Siren is set in ate it. So they were cursed somehow.
I thought that that was meant to imply more that the main character was completely bonkers and had been killing regular people all along.
when you find her let, run up to her so she rushes at you
she will then always be in you, or behind you
and if you turn to the right or left I forget, she should jump out and kill you
It's Afraid of Monsters, dude. You really should educate yourself in manners of horror games, especially since Afraid of Monsters is one of the most well-known horror mods in existence.
I hope the rest of the game ends up being this detailed
the attention to atmosphere was beautiful. I didn't even give a fuck about the jump scare, I think they executed it fairly well; unpredictable but gradual build up, and then dropping it at the worst possible time
>it's supposed to be shit
Every time i think we've hit rock bottom we manage to dig deeper.
Well, i'm pretty sure i looked behind me and shit, she appeared on the door that you start the from the loop, don't know, maybe some kind of bug
or maybe she's behind me right now.
The second one is where they bring in the evil and/or antithetical alternate universe thing. I think that he means the boss monster/the thing from the opening cinematic.
When I was watching a video I was thinking "wow another "horror" game with shitty jumpscares"
But actually playing it, it gets pretty spooky, it does a great job of building suspense
You're point was purely about jumpscares. I wasn't even the guy who provided the Silent Hill example, but that's a textbook jumpscare.
Quit being retarded. Yeah, they were trying to mimic the "walking simulator" horror trend. And they made it obnoxiously difficult. To stop people from uncovering the Silent Hill connection.
The fact that they're aware that this kind of game feels cheap and shitty is a very good sign for whatever Silent Hills will be.
I remember this scene.
That dream sequence in Scratches was really well done, and something I did not expect the game to do. It had the whole African curse thing that reminded me of Facts Concerning the Late Arthur Jermyn/Picture in the House.
>Out of nowhere
First, you have to have the ghost fly at you, at which point she'll be following behind you. There's also plenty of audio cues/reflections/shadows that indicate she's behind you.
That's like the exact opposite of a jump scare.
things that make you jump, are jumpscares.
are you really this retarded?
you dont jump when you just ease into a scary or disturbing image or start at a low volume that slowly makes it way up to really loud.
It's when it happens suddenly is when you jump
You are certified retarded
So loud sudden noises are jumpscares, and there's a few that happen in silent hill 1. Like walking into a seemingly empty room with nothing, then you decide to walk out. BOOM, jumpscare.
In the P.T demo, you hear some disturbing breathing behind you (which doesn't make you jump cause it's easing you into it, ie not loud and sudden) then you turn around and BOOM loud sudden attack on your person. Jumpscare
they are one and the same
she's not always there.
There's a lot of weird triggers to events and what not that probably have small % chances of happening, like Yume Nikki.
In my playthrough of PT I had ghostlady walking around in the bathroom at a low pace towards the fetus. I wish I'd captured that because I've seen nothing else here about it.
Water sequence in Amnesia: Justine.
People keep saying they want more Lovecraftian horror, but Lovecraft gets enough representation in horror video games as it is.
We need more Poe-type horror (like Amnesia: Justine) and M.R. James-type horror.
In fact, M.R. James has some of the spookiest supernatural creature types among the three authors.
I mean we already have a FEW games that have tried to adapt M.R. James type plots, like Dark Fall and The Lost Crown etc, but none of them have managed to adapt some of the frightening spectres associated with his works.
For example the ghost woman in PT and stuff like you see in Ringu or The Grudge would be more a typical Jamesian spectre (Wailing Well, Rats) than a Lovecraftian creature or a Poe one.
Sorry. Wanted to try and make a webm. Never made one before.
But that's part of the horror genre. The best part about the demo was that jump scares are not consistant . The unsettling vibe you get while trying to find you way out of that creepy house praying that NONTHING pops out to harm you.
Hell, even the old silent hill games had em'. Don't pretend they were not there just to calm your mental fanboi problems.
Did anyone get PS3 Baby vibes from the fetus in P.T.?
The only way things won't be discovered these days is if they decide to patch in a way to trigger the end at a later date, like they did with the arkham city reveal, but that would probably piss off a ton of people who've wasted countless hours trying to figure out the last puzzle.
To his credit no one has truly figured out how the last puzzle works.
A lot of the spookiness about P.T. comes from the atmospheric tension that builds up as you play, since s/he can appear in various locations and sometimes you won't ever notice it. There's also a lot of sounds going on as you play.
Yeah, but that's how a lot of jumpscares work in general.
Yeah, but I still liked the webms because they were decent quality.
In some stories like 'A School Story' and 'The Mezzotint', the spectres take the form of something impossibly thin, almost skeletal like pic related.
In 'Lost Hearts', 'Wailing Well', 'Rats' the spectres are almost like decaying corpses, like what you saw in PT. In 'Lost Hearts' the spectres have long claws, and a hole in their chest where their hearts were carved out of them.
It's really hard to describe so I'll just post picture approximations.
Diary of Mr Poynter. Formless spectre made up entirely of hair.
Yeah, if you aren't paying attention, all you hear are her moans and breathing, which is unnerving by itself.
Here, this picture might help.
I have more, but I'll stop there.
Tractate Middoth. Looks like an old man from behind. But featureless face, with cobwebs where his eyes should be.
And she's shorter than the man in the picture. Imagine how tall he is.
ah, thanks for that. That's an intricate puzzle, but most of the queues for solving the final puzzle in PT almost feel arbitrary, or randomized. It's almost not a puzzle at the same time, and I wouldn't doubt if the solution is randomized for certain playthroughs.
Most jumpscares are used this way, but they CAN be effective if used in moderation.
Build the atmosphere, build the tension, and let the player freak themselves out. But there's always a limit to how far you can take a player before they either calm down or get bored. That's where jumpscares come in. They let off some of the pressure built up from the atmosphere. When they happen, they let the player know that there's a definite threat. So, as they wander through the oppressive environment, they're constantly on their toes and jumping at every shadow. That's something IT did really well. You had two, maybe three jumpscares in the whole thing, spaced far apart from each other. The rest of it was atmosphere and disturbing imagery.
Then you have your typical biblical demons, Canon Alberic's Scrapbook.
I don't know which one that is. I've been planning to get The Penguin Complete edition.
TFW Tower of Latria and Tomb of the Giants scared you shitless.
So I only watched
silentplaythroughs so far because I don't own a PSquad.
>what's the connection between the guy who killed his family for no reason and the main character?
>what happened to Lisa's eye, there seems to be more focus on it than just random mutilation
>is the main character living in Hell for the duration of the teaser, until he gets Chosen at the end and gets 'resurrected'?
Also I'd love to find a guide on the exact triggers (if there are any) for certain events to happen, like Lisa appearing outside the window and stuff. They're always fun to read.
>Implying old horror was this.
Old horror was disturbing and interesting and also cared about creating a world and canon. But i guess just because Kojima slaps his name on shit you fanboys will eat it up. The PT was trashy jumpish startle scares and anyone who thinks its above a meh is a fucking retard who is just after Kojima cock.
In 'O Whistle And I'll Come To You My Lad', the spectre looks like a regular figure in the distance. But as it comes closer, you see it's moving in a weird, unnatural fashion.
>It would stop, raise arms, bow itself toward the sand, then run stooping across the beach to the water-edge and back again; and then, rising upright, once more continue its course forward at a speed that was startling and terrifying.
I always imagined it moved a bit like the ghost in Kairo, but faster and flightier.
Her eye was gouged out by a former husband. The radio gives off a theme of husbands killing their family members, and the notes written on the wall would signify that to.
That's all the information we're given so far.
>People think Kojimas slenderman is horror.
Its graphics are pretty. If this didn't have Kojimas name under it people would pass it off as what it is a generic indie style horror game.
The designs aren't really scary. The atmosphere is what makes the designs pop out more as scary. The games have other retarded looking monsters such as the leg mannequins from 2. I like his designs overall though. The monsters are meant more to look insane or disturbing then anything else. Like a chimera or mutant.
These PT and SH threads have fucking exploded thanks to that teaser and Koijma announced working on it. Some serious viral marketing is guaranteed going on the past few days in addition to many people being genuinely hyped.
>what's the connection between the guy who killed his family for no reason and the main character?
I assumed they were the same person and he was there as punishment for what he had done.
Don't know if they've revealed more about this or the project simply went dead.
Imagine during those really quiet moments there's actually a creature looming behind you all silent like, making small audio queues enough for you to realize he's there. You found out that the creature has been actually stalking the player without him realizing it.
You know how people are saying good things about the sound and atmosphere? Yeah. That's not a jump scare. She's chasing you. You have to get away. I do believe that was the player character. Getting his neck snapped. From a first person perspective.
I am so fucking disappointed in you /v/. Where are Amnesia appreciation posts? It is probably the best horror game with minimum jumpscares and very intensive story telling that actually makes sense in the frame of the game world's logic. Not talking about that shitty walking simulator piggy diggy game but the first one. It was a really good game anons, why didn't u like it ;_;
So, we know how to do everything for the final puzzle except consistently trigger fetus laugh number two, right? Anyone got any more theories on what does it? I got an alternate laugh while on the pause screen and after unpausing I was able to trigger the real one.
Jesus you fucks are so fucking stupid, but ill bite. That was the fucking point, he wanted you to think it was a shit spookfest like any other. Nigga wanted you to think this was a different game. clearly it fucking worked.
In The Ash Tree a host of unnaturally large, hairy and poisonous spiders scurry out a hollow tree.
The problem with finding good M.R. James creature depictions are that there aren't very many good ones that are online.
>thats how a lot of the jumpscares work in general
Generally you are right.. but there are games out there where theres not supposed to be jumpscares but the "execution" is even more unnerving than the normal horror jumpscares.
In the last of us for example i think the Bloater melee execution is pretty damn insane also the human melee execution looks fucking insane getting beaten the fuck up.
I wish they could do more of that stuff in horror games to make you actually have to watch something insane when you get caught instead of having a very low quality half screamer on your screen.
yup. The chills i got when i found out it was a silent hill game. Shit, that fucker got me good.
>It was just a shitty retelling of The Shadow Out of Time.
Confirmed for not knowing what he's talking about. It was almost exactly the historic recount portion of a Case of Charles Dexter Ward and Count Magnus. The whole interdimensional thing was NOTHING like the yithians.
>It cannot harm you in any way, shape, or form.
This fucking game. I still can't find it on the Australian PS Store.
What do you think PT is? We didn't even know there WAS a Silent Hills until someone beat it and posted the teaser from the end of it online. The fact that it was a Silent Hills teaser was a secret.
The nigga on the radio is the scariest part of the pt. Once I know how and when the jumpscares and all that shit happens it isn't too bad, but that motherfucker still creeps me out.
Did you guys know that if you have a microphone plugged in, you can say hello to Lisa and she'll respond?
That makes me think we'll be getting MGS levels of TECHNOLOGY since Kojima is directing.
Yes, movies and books are worse than video games.
They have an on rails story, they don't allow exploration, you cannot act in any way other than what some writer or director demands of you, and you have limited content or deadline to finish the project.
Video games are superior to movies and books in almost every way when well made. The absolute best movie and book are still trash compared to the better made video gams.
Soon as I pull up and park the Benz
We get this bitch shaking like Parkinsons
Jumps cares don't really bother me as long as the game isn't overly reliant on them. P.T. had like two if I remember correctly.
The spookiest thing in the game, for me, is the radio guy breaking the fourth wall to talk to you.
this game is using binaural noises, it's using where your mouse "looks" or hovers without even needing interaction. It's using procedural horror that nobody can seem to fucking figure out, shit in your peripheral vision, hidden faces in the dark...
this is pulling all the stops. I'm going to piss my pants so badly.
>mfw watching a walkthrough because of my huge puss
>mfw the player goes right past the window without seeing her face in it
>it goes by too quick to be sure
>too afraid to look back
P.T has one jumpscare
and it's reoccuring if you dont learn what triggers it.
and it's possible to never trigger it. But that's most likely only going to happen if you already know how not to
That door knob looks like a dick. Maybe the ghost is a perv and replaced all door knobs with his dick and that's why you're going over the same corridor and opening the same doors over and over.
Now this is spooky
when you hear her breathing behind you, if you turn around to the right I think she'll jump out at you, since she's blind in the left eye or whatever the fuck. But I dont maybe you have turn at just the right speed or something.
Well placed jump scares keep you on the edge of your seat for the entire game, on top of the creepy as fuck atmosphere. Are jump scares just a little bit too much for you anon? You only need a couple jump scares to make the entire thing fucking terrifying.
>yfw the new Silent Hill game will only be scary for people who actually takes the time to explore the area, and has a sense of curiosity to themselves to be aware of their surroundings
>yfw the new Silent Hill game will not be scary for pussies whose mindset 100% of the time playing is "I don't want to play this game" and they just bolt through everything just to be done with this shit
P.T. already proves this. People who just keeps walking forward to get done with the looping hallway bullshit never/rarely sees fucking anything. I've seen my friend play through it and never did he get jumpscared.
Penumbra: Black Plague, Penumbra: Overture, RE: remake, RE2, RE3, RE0, SH1-4, Parasite Eve 2, Amneisa: The Dark Descent, F.E.A.R
ONLY GOOD HORROR GAMES POWERRANKINGS (no real ranking edition)
You're a dumb cunt and you don't deserve anything good to happen to you. You see a game that people are enjoying and you come to a thread to shit on it like everyone else in here because you just don't know what to do with your life anymore. This is the only conclusion I can draw when people shit on a well made, genuinely creepy game, that looks GREAT and was fucking FREE.
>So I need to look at shit?
>My thumb is going to break because I'm pressing in the stick too much
Top fucking Kek, you cunt.
There's a jumpscare you can't avoid though. It's when the bathroom door cracks open and the ghost slams it shut.
Also, even if you rush through p.t. there are still some creepy thing in it. The guy on the radio, the girl standing in the hallway, the eerie music and baby crying, and the part where you have to look through the peephole.
you act as if the jumpscare just consists of walking around then boom ahah got you.
no, it's scary cause there's a build up to it, you know there's this woman or thing haunting you, you can hear her breathing down your neck at times.
you see her shadow behind you sometimes
you see her standing on the balcony, you see her standing in open places.
you're terrified at this point, so when the jumpscare happens if happens for a reason and something you were terrified of happening
Can you actually die in this teaser?
All these people going "omg so spooky" at the same cliched "pale woman dressed in white" are fucking retarded, horror in games doesn't come from spooky things but things that can kill you in game, or fuck your progress in some way. RE2 had limited saves, true horror was wandering around without having saved for a while, or fearing you'll run out of bullets, or not having herbs. Not people standing in a corner for no reason
>mfw Silent hills will just be a walking simulator for the lets play audience
If you are talking about paranoia you need to seriously play that too. It has nothing to do with stalker, its not an apocalypse and its not even in Ukraine.
I don't think people are really pissed with it if they're normal. It's just that there are a certain criteria that have to be met before you can get the actual "ending" and that criteria is still unclear. Some people do certain things and it works, while other people do the same things and it doesn't.
For a while it was creating great conversation on /v/, stuff we haven't seen for a while, with people gushing over the game and collaborating. It only took a few days for the asspain due to people enjoying something together to spread, and the shitposting to start.
>Silent Hill(s? fucking what) is coming to other platforms
We have ZERO confirmation of this. Last bit of info I saw was a picture from a review site that listed SCE as the publisher. And if that's true then it's GUARANTEED to be exclusive.
Sincerally PT looks no different from Stanley Parable or Dear Esther. It is basically an atmospheric walking simulator, it just happens to be slightly more atmospheric and scary, thanks to jumpscares.
So basically now we like walking simulators? Or it is just because it is made by Kojima?
Guys will horror games possibly make a come back?
>REmake going multiplatform
>new SH game
>all those other indie horror games
Could we be seeing a resurgence of horror games like what happened with fighting games?
It's been said a bunch of times already, it's good because of atmosphere/ambience/sound
You really don't think if it was utter shut /v/ would be all over calling it just that? How goddamn new are ya? People shit on MGS 2/3 here. That should tell you something.
I wasn't suggesting it was more towns, what makes you think that? It's Silent Hills. It's very clear that it's Silent Hill with an S on the end. I sa "as in more than one hill" to make the phonetics clear.
Is something wrong with you?
>At the end of the game it says Silent Hills will be nothing like p.t.
so what was the point. I mean if they even made it worse graphically and all, then they weren't trying to show off visuals or anything. So whyyy
>Forgetting Project Zero 5 for the Wii U
Is it just me, or is the Fatal Frame series the most underrated one?
People usually prefer it to Silent Hill because that game appealed to them more.
It's probably because of the psychological horror the SH games did as opposed to cultural legends in PZ.
It involves making a fetus laugh 3 times so that a phone will ring. The first laugh is trigger by waiting for the clock to strike midnight and everything to go silent and then taking 10 paces in one direction. No one knows what triggers the second laugh, but it has been theorized that it involves saying things into the microphone while examining specific points in the room. For me, the second laugh triggered by leaving it on the pause screen for about half an hour and unpausing and examining the phone when I heard a noise. The third laugh is triggered by waiting for the controller to rumble and standing perfectly still. If you move during the rumble you just fucked up your chance of getting the final laugh. You aren't given any hints about any of this and some people have spent hours trying dozens of different things at specific times and locations to trigger laugh 2 with no luck whereas others triggered it through identical methods in a matter of minutes. There seems to be an element of randomness to it where sometimes one method will work and other times it won't. To be fair, Kojima intended this to be something that took weeks for the internet to collectively come together and figure out.
It says it will be unrelated, as in the story of the father killing the family won't have anything to do with it, not that it won't be anything like it. I think Kojima was testing whether or not he can make something scary
