>He actually bought it.
Isn't Gamestop artificially inflating the price of used copies of this game? I'd hate to have actually bought it.
Should have bought Radiant Dawn or Ar Rise Fantasia, actual good jrpgs on the wii.
>I paid full price for dragon age 2
Because it's an RPG? An RPG consists of 2 halves, a story half, and a battle half, if I can't enjoy half of the game, why would I just simply put up with it for the other half? Because /v/ said so? Because a bunch of magazines said it's good?
I bought all the Operation Rainfall games thinking they would be fantastic. Pandoras Tower put me to sleep, Xenoblade has shit combat, and I haven't started The Last Story yet.
I know how you feel OP. Everyone on here were hyping this game up so much and then when I finally get around to playing it its just a crummy RPG. I hate battle systems like the one used in this game everything else was good, but I can't play these types of RPG's. The battle system sucks.
>legitimally liking STUTTERING combat system
You know damn well what time it is.
speaking of buyers's remorse (technically pirate's remorse in my case) and /v/ hyping shit games, I pirated CoJ:Gunslunger after hearing a bunch of people praise it
I expected it to be somewhat fun, instead I got an aggressively generic shooting gallery
probably should have watched some gameplay, but I wasn't really used to /v/ recommending shit games(mostly because I usually pirate modern games at launch and don't pay attention to people recommending it)
oh and the same goes for Underhell except that was just straight up terrible.
There's a reason why this is a conainment board full of teenager fanboys.
Hilariously enough, I ignored most of the dialogue (mainly because most of it was awful) and just focused on the gameplay.
I've learned to ignore the story in Jap games, since most of the time the dialogue is so cringe-worthy that it makes me hate the story.
Why don't people realize that if you're going to make a story-heavy game with a lot of text and talking that you should work on making dialogue that's not fucking terrible and unnatural-feeling.
And this goes for just about all story-heavy games with a lot of dialogue.
Dialogue is HANDS DOWN the most important part of writing.
If your story-heavy game has shit dialogue, it has a shit story.
I fucking hate WoW combat, but I absolutely loved Xenoblade's. Not sure where people get this comparison beyond it just being auto attack and cooldown skills.
WoW is literally just using skills in rotation to maximize damage and maybe interrupting a scripted enemy cast. Xenoblade has combo'd status effects, chain attack system, actual customization, enemy visions, etc, the list goes on.
I bought this game twice and somehow ended up profiting.
Bought it, decided it was shit and traded it in for more than I bought it for. Then months later I went to buy a classic controller and found that the game+Controller bundle was the exact same price as the controller alone so got that. Played the game again and it was still boring.
I like WoW's combat, and I like Xenoblade's, too. Why would you hate WoW's combat? For MMO combat, it's really good. It's much better than clunkyfest MMO combat that tries to be action oriented.
You have to be literally, LITERALLY autistic or an extreme dudebro normalfag to hate Xenoblade.
Fuck off back to facebook.
Xenoblade becomes loads better once you unlock more skills than you can equip because each character has mutiple different play styles. Don't play as shulk, he never gets more moves than he can equip and all his moves look the same. Reyn, Dunban, Riki, and Seven are loads more fun. Sharla is shit and Melia is shit unless you control her.
It's easy to detect whether a fanbase on /v/ is legitimate or not. Checkout a let's play or youtube review that seems legit (i.e. gives arguments rather than opinions). Post a well-articulated complaint about the game.
One of two things will happen:
>fanbase flips the fuck out and tells you to fuck off
This means the fanbase is not legitimate. The game is probably bad and you should stay away.
>fanbase discusses the points you make, or agree to your assessment
The fanbase is legitimate.
You keep your levels and equipment but nothing else changes. Xenoblade also has this weird matching mechanic where annything weaker than five levels from you will miss 90% of their attacks and deal pitiful damage. (single digits) The same applies to you but litterally only a handfull of enemies will require any thought in ng+, namely the superboss characters that are way beyond the level cap.
What happens in every Xenoblade thread is that people try and pass their opinions of how the combat is bad, as objective fact.
The combat is objectively good for its style, but it definitely is not for everyone, and I fully understand that.
If someone wants to throw objectively negatives about the game, that would be the tedious sidequests and affinity system.
>What happens in every Xenoblade thread is that people try and pass their opinions of how the combat is bad, as objective fact.
>The combat is objectively good
Is this post satire?
I know that but it's kinda useful if you'd just like to experience the story without having to do any grinding/sidequests, I haven't played a NG+ before though so I couldn't say for sure
>People on /v/ like Killer is Dead or any Suda51 game
>People on /v/ legitimately enjoy Xenoblade Chronicles
>People on /v/ think DOTA 2 is the height of competitive games and the only argument they can present is "muh payoff"
/v/ is shit, don't let anyone tell you otherwise
Xenoblade would have benefited immensely from a bombers notebook to keep track of npcs or a quest tracking systems like the one found in borderlands. Also the sidequests were not tedious because you got rewards instantly. You could pretty much go into a town, chat up everyone to take on their quests and just treat them as in game achievements you could accomplish at your leisure or without thought.
over 10 minutes of a cutscene before actually doing anything. seriously fuck that
Exactly this. The issues weren't the quests themselves, as you tend to complete a lot of them just exploring and going from location to location.
The big issue was trying to find every quest available, which required you to run through entire towns thoroughly multiple times for day and night. Sometimes, you had to do this all over again when you raise the town's affinity level.
Actually might be the worst game I ever played, luckily it was only like a dollar
How not to make a puzzle game: the videogame
Xeno's graphics are the reason it got to be so ambitious. If the graphics were any better the environments would have suffered. I hope you enjoyed hallway fantasy XIII because that's what we'd get. Also the Artstyle made up for the graphics in my opinion.
>literally nobody on /v/ did anything but make fun of KiD.
bullshit, /v/ is Suda51 central, if his name is on the game, it's perfection and can do no wrong, look at the people saying how perfect NMH is and that it's "a prime example of a good action game"
>iterally nobody on /v/ did anything but make fun of KiD
How fucking new are you?
/v/ hypes up shitty Jap games all the time.
Most recently, Akiba's Trip.
Not to mention /v/ has an unending boner for Suda 51 ever since Killer 7.
I meant better graphics without cutting anything, which was possible since the only real problem were the textures. I did enjoy it even without them, but those enviroments in hd would have been beautiful if that was possible. X is good enough.
I don't play final fantasy. Calm down.
>mfw you've never played both games and talking out your ass
We all do.
Atleast I bought it cheap and learned my lesson about "It will be finished later".
But my main issue was boredom. I learned an important lesson, no matter what anyone says, I wll never enjoy a game with no objective, only to grind endessly.
Lego is fun as fuck though.
>Best JRPG of the generation
Fully agree, though, there was not a lot to compete with.
But saying this, I would say this game would of sat great along side a lot of great JRPGs on SNES/PS1/PS2.
God I hate GT fans.
The main reason it gets praise is the story, specificly the twist. Which honestly puts it on par with a Shyamalan film. GT has boring as fuck gameplay, good music and it's shitty story.
I's greatly overrated. The gameplay exists only as filler for the story, which as I already said, wasnt that great.
Best battle system of the Tales franchise my ass
>Anyone who dislikes Witcher 2 is a Bioware employee or fanboy.
But only dudebros normals think Xenoblade is good. Savior of the jrpgs with bravely default, pffhaha.
Perhaps you were not up to the task?
The entire Tales franchise is mediocre at best.
Shit story, shit dialogue, mediocre gameplay, mediocre music, mediocre visuals, artstyle of your typical Korean MMO.
Sue me faggots.
I though /v/ was all about "gameplay" this retarded game its a step down from FFXII and it plays even worse.
I don't get how /v/ can defend this shit. I guess Nintendo fanboys are more loud that I though they were.
>Hating viewtiful joe
I am fucking OUT
Keep them tears coming, I'm thirsty!
You both are fucking faggots.
ITT: people complain about letting other people form an opinion for them then getting mad when they find out they don't like that opinion.
How about you go out and look up shit on a game instead of asking someone else? There are such things as videos that usually show gameplay and things. You don't have to read a review or ask /v/ for help.
>How about you go out and look up shit on a game instead of asking someone else?
>There are such things as videos that usually show gameplay
H-hahaha... you're not actually serious though, right?
Or do this. I tend to do this on games myself because I usually want to play them before the gameplay videos come out. If it's shit it's shit if I like it I'll buy it. However that's the smart way to do it and most people in these kind of threads don't seem to be able to form an opinion on their own without someone spoonfeeding them one first.
But you can't jack off when you're this mad, anon
While gameplay videos usually don't give a good detailed look into a game it's better than asking /v/. Mostly because you will have an actual source to look at rather than just taking someones word when they say it's good or bad. If that's not good enough just do what >>257911713 said
I only use /v/ to the extent of showing me a game exists and could "possibly" be good.
My research of a game mainly comes from gameplay and non-paid reviews (basically personal channel reviews that don't score games) for pros and cons and see if they would line up with my interests.
Fans on /v/ would either overhype a game, and other people that dislike the game will slam it so low you would think the game is a literal 0/10.
>taking anything on /v/ at face value
You have no one to blame but yourself.
>Post a Nep image
>Normals cry against it instead I what I say
Neptunia has at least decent game play.
Playing a Japanese game doesn't mean your a weeaboo
kek. Lowest of the low as far as turnbased combat goes.
This game is fucking garbage.
It's every generic-ass shooter, but without cover or rolling. MP is either the AI fucking you or everyone jump rocketing/using the pay-to-win DLC robots/grinders. Fuck this game.
>on the ps3 it would have been as forgotten as white knight chronicles
How confident are you of this. I have a PS3 and Wii, and I still would put Xenoblade higher than almost all other JRPGs on it. Valkyria Chronicles comes damn close though.
>Vesperia and Xillia both had more enjoyable combat.
They're more mash friendly. The west just isn't used to the defensive, strategy intensive playstyle of the destiny games because next to none left Japan. Graces literally plays like Bayonetta. You use dodge offset to continue your combos from dodges. Dodging at the last second nets you more CC. The difficulty is fucking orgasmic because you can unlock chaos on your first playthrough and it nets you huge rewards Even trash mobs can three shot you if you're not careful but if you're a master at dodging then you can be rolling around at 1 third health with your eleth mixer, accel arte, or elethburst as backup. Graces has the most depth and polish out of all the Tales games. You can't cheese like in Xillia or Vesperia.
I liked Titanfall. Didn't buy though, only played the Beta
Daily reminder that "pretend real time RPG with AI controlled party members" is the lowest of the low among combat systems. It doesn't even deserve to lick the boots of the simplest turn based game or the crappiest ARPG.
No I like xenoblade so I objectively can't have shit taste.
As you can see, OP, only animuretards will defend this game. You should pirate it.
/v/ used to be able to take some dissenting opinions.
Now, any thread about any
Japgame is just one big hugbox where people get pissy when someone says that said game is shit.
It's the true face of neo-/v/.
about what my dear mentally challenged friends?
You done throwing your tantrum yet?
It's not like I expected anything else, b-baka!
God look at all of you people that liked Xenoblade.
I bet you had fun with it too, didn't you?
Animal Crossing (all of them)
Fire Emblem (all of them)
Pokemon (all of them)
Kingdom Hearts (all of them)
Metal Gear Rising
Tales of the Abyss
Fallout 3 and New Vegas
All I can think of for now.
All embarrassingly bad games.
And these same people will shit on stuff like Soul Hackers, Monster Hunter and Red Dead Redemption, my sides.
RDR is just GTA in the west with a shitty cover shooter system that's used every 4 minutes. The novelty wears off after the first few fights and the only thing carrying it is the story. RDR was the worst rockstar game I've had the pleasure of touching
Yeah it's one of the greatest games I ever played. 100% completed it, got me into the western film genre, watched about 40 western movies, then replayed RDR and enjoyed it even more than I did before since I could truly appreciate the subtle references and atmosphere.
>Animal Crossing (all of them)
>Fire Emblem (all of them)
>Pokemon (all of them)
>Kingdom Hearts (all of them)
you bought all the games in those series before realizing that they're shit?
played one or two of them at most
all I need to play to know that they're all diarrhea, they're all the same shit
just didn't want to confuse anyone into thinking I only disliked certain titles in the franchise
maybe if the puzzles were actually playable without a guide and not autistic and completely nonsensical.....
maybe if the humor was a little more highbrow and not modern Nickelodeon-tier...
HHAH XD ROckET DOG :P
But White knight chronicles is utter shit, after couple hours of play I just tossed it back on a shelf. After few weeks I got Xenoblade. Really enjoying it for about 25+ hours or so.
Can't handle the
Been here longer than you think. What year do you think I got those recommendations from /v/? Think about it.
Not saying they're bad games, they just weren't my cup of tea. MH3 takes forever to get to anything fun, Jak and Daxter was just scatterbrained, and Viewtiful Joe was just too trite and dated-looking to enjoy.
And again, those are
