As an MG fan since the very beginning, MGS3 is the worst of the "Solid" games.

It took the fast-paced stealth gameplay the series was known for and turned it into a Splinter Cell clone set in the 60s. Instead of giving us the Big Boss we heard and came to fear over the years, they gave us a Solid Snake reskin...without a pair of testicles, an unhealthy obsession with an ugly dyke, no personality, and a weak supporting cast. The boss fights are all awful except for The End and (if you consider it a "boss") The Sorrow.

The last hour is a mess. The Shagohod battle is atrocious and damn near impossible to lose, and requires no thought whatsoever (shoot the treads, shoot the back, repeat). Volgin comes out and...guess what! Shoot the treads again!

And holy. fucking. shit. Kojima tried way, way too hard to make us care about The Boss. She became fucking Goku of the Metal Gear universe. She commanded the Normandy invasion? Oh, and she was the first woman in space? Oh yeah, and she single-handedly stopped the Cuban Missile Crisis? AND she sacrificed herself to stop the Cold War?

MGS3 and SM Samus have so much health I mashed X the entire game and beat them without a thought. Compare that to MGS1 Snake and Metroid Samus, who die like a bitch in very few hits, and you actually have to the minumum thought into your actions.

FFVI is literally just selecting "attack" on a menu, while Planescape is just watching your character fight for you.

Super Metroid was trash. Controls were shit on gamecube controller and classic controller pro. Other aspects were impressive but that shit wasn't fun in the slightest. It had absolutely nothing t compel me to play further.

First impressions were a bit jarring visually. I can understand bad textures but everything was so blurry to point of being obscuring. Gameplay was tricky but was rewarding, when I wasn't having my ass kicked. The main problem was that the controls felt like they were missing an entire dimension, despite spending time learning it it never felt natural. The music didn't feel CUH-RAZEE and exciting just annoying and repetitive, especially when you spend so much time in one area. Progress was tracked in an absurd way and absolutely hindered progression. I felt exhausted by the time I reached the first cutscene and dropped the game entirely by the third. It was just after the cast of antagonists was revealed.
