Holy shit, the 2nd DLC looks even more boring.
>more generic humanoid knight enemies
Why is it so hard for them to give the enemies a unique look? The bosses will probably be rehashed too.
>"lol THIS IS WHY WE LOVE THE SERIES SO MUCH it brings so much difficulty! :D"
This is not why we love the series. Also, MORE FUCKING HUMANOID ENEMIES. WHY. Why would anybody honestly buy this, let alone still play the base game?
DaS 2 issues are on an entirely different league than the first. There was only two moments DaS infuriated me: 2 Kings and Gwyn. DaS 2 was the entire goddamn game, the concept of difficulty for the Monster Hunter director is completely bananas.
Demon's Souls was marketed and sold on its difficulty.
It's traditional unforgiving nature is what got western attention in the first place and made it profitable to localize.
>Demon's Souls was marketed and sold on its difficulty.
Show me trailers and propaganda that prove so.
No it wasn't. It was the design and the overall tone of the game. Dark Souls was the one who sold on difficulty.
Yeah, been a long time i don't touch it.
And i died to Gwyn like 30 times, at least. He wasn't easy at all. Hits like a truck and ninja fast. Unless you knew and mastered parry, which i didn't back then.
>Not parry spamming the easiest parry boss in the game
Iron flesh and stacking poise also makes him a pushover.
In fact, iron flesh and stacking poise makes nearly every boss in DaS a complete pushover.
>No it wasn't. It was the design and the overall tone of the game
I didn't say that difficulty was its sole selling point. Besides, you didn't get much of the actual atmosphere unless you played it yourself or watched longplays of it.
Dark Souls made dieing a lot and difficulty into a campaign, but that wasn't its sole selling point either.
But the DLC was really good. Sinh and not Nashandra are fun boss fights and the area is well designed.
But yeah I'm most worried about this DLC. I just want Ivory King. Still that video actually makes it look interesting.
it's not that it's SUPER DUPER HARD!! XD
it's that it's not easy and not instantly gratifying. The feeling of reward is enhanced due to the difficulty as well as by the eerie atmosphere and cool enemies. It's fun because you feel like you actually did something
I'll just agree to disagree on Ruin Sentinels, but I don't get why people wouldn't like the Executioner's Chariot, and you certainly can't consider it a rehash.
Agreed on LGS. That would have been great.
Lost Sinner and Ruin Sentinels fall into the bug guy with big weapon category that's one of the game's biggest missteps.
They've got practically identical movesets. Also, Lost Sinner is a joke. It exemplifies the slow tedious process of blocking, getting a hit in, blocking, repeat. It only became "challenging" in NG+ when it embodied the OTHER big problem with DkS2's boss fights when it throws in adds.
But then they patched it so it's back to being nothing.
It's not the Executioner Chariot monster design i don't like. It's the fight itself. You waste more time fighting normal skeletons than the chariot itself. In fact, you only fight the horse. What a disappointment.
That's...the point of the fight. The monster isn't the guy riding, it's the horse, hence the name "Executioner's Chariot." The horse was the one in control.
The boss fight is a gimmick fight like Dragon God or BoC, but it's actually done right.
I dunno, I guess I just liked it. It was an entertaining arena and the enemy itself had a solid pattern of attack at the 2nd phase of the fight. Very fun boss to coop in my opinion.
The enemies look nothing like the ones in Crown of the Sunken King. They look like humanoid enemies that DaS2 is way too fond of, but they look nothing like the humanoid enemies in the first DLC.
The OP complains that there are too many humanoid knight bosses. Some other guy says the bosses were shit in DS too. The next guy replies saying that O&S were good. They are humanoid knights. Very nonsensical and unrelated. Very.
Because any and all creativity went with Miyazaki to develop Bloodborne.
>whereas anyone can block.
>Anyone can block
You need a decent shield and a decent amount of stamina to be efficient at blocking.
You can still roll with shit AGI, done that and EVERYONE can roll, except, maybe DSP.
Generally rolling consumes less stamina than blocking anyway, there's no real reason to block.
You're a fucking retard with a goldfish memory.
It was Atlus that started this bullshit in the first place.
I think what's gotten me excited the most about Bloodborne is the variety of enemies we've already seen in the footage revealed so far. I got so sick of humanoid enemies in DaS2
There's more character variety in these two trailers than in the majority of Dark Souls 2.
I think he's talking about the Adjudicator who appears right before the Lechmonger in that trailer. and the Rotten basically is the Adjudicator with extra features like that breath attack
It was more that Demon's Souls didn't pussyfoot with any persistent handholding and Demon's Souls world persistence thing kinda makes it unforgiving for people that keep dying.
I'm fine with the same "type" of enemy so long as they have some visual variety to them.
Dark Souls 2's giant knights weren't bad in and of themselves, the problem was that they looked EXACTLY THE SAME, just with a differnet weapon.
>enemy with different looks, moveset, and hitbox
>>being this dense
You're just grasping to shitpost. Stop any time.
Nobody is complaining enemy TYPES are rehashed BETWEEN games.
People are complaining because Dark Souls 2 rehashes too much IN ITS OWN game.
Anyone complaining about rehash enemies between Dark Souls 1 and 2 are retarded. It's a cashcow sequel, of course there's going to be reused content.
>enemy with different looks, moveset, and hitbox
If you watch closely the giant werewolf thing did the exact same 3 strike pattern moveset, the last strike being a long winded overhead strike.
Pretty sure I saw that fucking million times in DS2
You're talking to more than one person here you blithering retard.
>Give me a screenshot comparison how the giant knights looked EXACTLY the same.
They're exactly the fucking same, right down to the goddamn cape.
Dark Souls 2 died quicker than any of them.
The fucking awful PvP saw to that.
I certainly don't hate DaS2; in fact, I even like it. But I can't sit down and play it for as long as I could with DeS and DaS because of the sheer amount of bullshit they fling at you for the sake of making the game "hardcore"
It's still a fun game and better than most that come out these days but it's missing a lot of what makes its predecessors so great
I don't see Bloodborne having dogblins, volcano salamanders, masses of stuff(???) with a long tail, moths, wheels, mushroom bugs, jars, dog rats, undead boars, floormasters, worms, water-dwelling bodies, dragons, "turtles" with poison spitting statues on their back and giant reptile dragon hippos.
Fuck, at least give me SOME variety. Hang the armor in a different place, remove the cape, anything.
If you look at the two trailers in this post
You'll see two of the same enemy types (Big brutish, slow enemy with a big weapon) but both look completely different.
This. DLC was fun as fuck and the Dragon boss was one of the best in the game. Actually made me go back and explore the core game some more, only to realise it's not as fun as the DLC.
In the first trailer we see:
The big zombie
The swamp monster
The zombie dog
The quicker brute with a long weapon
The armored enemy with a polearm
A magic character
The big red-eyed werewolf thing
and the boss
IN A MINUTE IN 40 SECONDS
>You'll see two of the same enemy types (Big brutish, slow enemy with a big weapon) but both look completely different.
yea that's because the game is being made on better hardware
what you're doing is the same as complaining the blue-eyed knights and red-eye knights in DeS are the same except their eye color. Similarities between same enemy types isn't what most of us have an issue with; it's similarities with OTHER enemy types that get old(i.e fighting giant heavy knights in Heide's tower and fighting giant heavy knights in the dragon aerie)
And in the second trailer were see
Torch wielding tall stalker enemies
That thin with the sickle
That's fucking 15 fucking enemy types in the span of less than 4 minutes.
And from those the only non humanoids are the crows, swamp monster, and the dogs.
The SAME enemy looks the same? What's this bullshit? Next you'll tell me the guardian dragons all look the same.
>what you're doing is the same as complaining the blue-eyed knights and red-eye knights in DeS are the same except their eye color.
They're the same "type" of enemy, but again, there's VARIETY. In addition to their eye color they have different weapons and aggression levels. Black the Skeletons in World 4 aren't very different from the white ones, but when you see them drooling with blood red eyes and black bones, you immediately feel like this one is the alpha dog.
Something like that would have been good for Dark Souls 2. Maybe give the mace guys a different chest plate or something to distinguish themselves from the normal ones.
I'm not arguing that they're not humanoid. I'm arguing that there's variety to them.
>The SAME enemy looks the same?
If you notice, there are multiple looks to the standard "zombie enemy."
Huh? Just don't trigger the aerial attacks, retard. Triggering the easy attacks is kind of the key to beating bosses in Souls. If you play it right, he won't even get a chance to fly.
I see what you're saying and it would have been cool, but that isn't the big issue with enemy design that most of us have with the game. It's the repetition of enemy types throughout the game. It makes the new areas feel less unique than they could have been.
It would be like seeing the Boletarian knights in every archestone
>I'm arguing that there's variety to them
Humanoid with weapon is "variety"?
You mean like the random hollows in Things Bewixt? Also those dogs and the werewolves all look the same.
But you do see "human" with weapon in every archstone.
>Something like that would have been good for Dark Souls 2. Maybe give the mace guys a different chest plate or something to distinguish themselves from the normal ones.
So they have to make thousands of armor sets? It's bad enough that many of DaS2 armors are just recolors, like the lions.
Hate is harsh. I just think that it has core issues that compromises the package and makes it the weakest of the Souls games.
>mummies behave like every other enemy
>giants behave like every other enemy
>statues are "human" with weapon
At the end of the day it's a solldier with a falchion and a roll move.
For every humanoid enemy, though? They already did many times even when it was unnecessary, like the turtle knights.
>But you do see "human" with weapon in every archstone.
You see dreglings in just about every archstone, sure. But that kind of ties into showing you how the world and its inhabitants have been ravaged by the scourge, and even then there is variety between them
Stonefang's are scaley and require piercing weapons early on to do damage
Latria's kind of trick you because a lot of the are not hostile to you but then some will ambush you with poison weapons
Valley's are a little more grotesque visually, play dead, and their attack patterns are a little more unpredictable your first time playing
DeS doesn't have a problem with "human with weapon" because in addition to your standard human enemies in the archstones, you had mind flayers, gargoyles, flying manta rays, reapers, slugs, those spirit things the reaper summons, etc
DaS2 had pretty much only knights and dreglings and those exploding mummy dudes in every fucking area for some reason
it makes me wonder what you guys want out of a "challenge"
just tough enemies? well thats hard to do since people like to over level these days
The weakest Souls game is still Demon's Souls, but at least that has the excuse of being the first of it's kind, therefore the least polished. Dark Souls 2 may have been a downgrade from Dark Souls, but overall it was still better than Demon's Souls.
what made DeS and DaS challenging isn't just tough enemies. enemy placement in relation to the level's layout and environment you fight them in is what gives us the type of challenge we are looking for. Often traversing the areas in the games were just as dangerous as fighting enemies. That's kind of lost in DaS2 and their idea of difficulty through enemy placement is just throwing 3-5 dudes at you at once
good thing it isnt hard though
most solutions is just to go teddy Roosevelt on em
I guess its a different type of challenge
Yeah, the idea of difficulty of DeS was having two or more enemies which can nearly oneshot you fight you in a material you can't roll in, followed by other smaller enemies as well, or having two or more enemies with stamina voiding moves and an automatic guard break, or others that directly 100% killed you with a single swing, while the rest of the enemies in the game could never actually kill you. That's amazing.
And how to forget the smaller paths to keep attention on to not fall off, so small that they make Hellkite drake's bridge look like that one wooden plank with the colorless soul.
>ds2 died quicker than any of them
>you can find people faster in ds2 than in any other game
>there were less people playing at the time of the other games release than there are now
nice try kiddo
>Beating all three unlock a super final boss for the true ending of DaS2
>It's four havels at once
>They all have infinite stamina, perfect tracking, and use estus
>One emits a poison cloud, another emits an acid cloud that destroys equipment, a third has the tranquil walk of peace around it, and the final one has a fire aura that damages you if you get too close
>They all have 100% magic/dark/lightning reduction and are immune to poison
>level design in DaS2 doesn't come anywhere near the quality of DeS
FOOLISH UNDEAD! YOU DARE ENTER THE DOMAIN OF THE GENERIC LARGE FIRE DEMON; THE LEADER OF GENERIC LAVA CASTLE
QUAKE IN FEAR AS I SLOWLY RAISE MY FISTS FOR THE BASIC SLAM ATTACK AND JUST TRY ATTACKING ME AS A REMAIN PERFECTLY MOTIONLESS WITH MY HAND IN FRONT OF YOU FOR 30 SECONDS
DON'T SHIT YOUR DRANGLEIC LEGGINGS JUST YET FOR I HAVE ANOTHER ATTACK WHERE I DO AN INCREDIBLY TELEGRAPHED SWIPE ATTACK BEFORE THE FIST SLAM! YOU WILL NEVER SEE IT COMING AS I SLOWLY MOVE MY ARM INTO POSITION TO THE SIDE OF THE PLATFORM
BEHOLD MY SECRET WEAPON! I WILL SLOWLY TURN MY HEAD WHILE BREATHING FIRE STARTING FROM THE OPPOSITE END OF THE PLATFORM FROM YOUR CURRENT LOCATION! YOU WILL NEVER THINK OF CASUALLY WALKING TO THE ONE OBVIOUS SAFE SPOT ON THE SIDE OF THE ARENA
NOT ENOUGH FOR YOU? IF YOU HAPPEN TO SURVIVE MY GRUELLING ONSLAUGHT OF RELENTLESS ATTACKS THEN I WILL HAVE TO BRING OUT THE BIGGER GUNS! I WILL SEND OUT A JET OF FLAME IN A STRAIGHT LINE WITH MY HEAD WELL WITHIN STRIKING RANGE OF YOUR SWORD! BEHOLD MY INTIMIDATING PERSEVERANCE AS I WILL CONTINUE TO BREATH FIRE AS YOU STAND TO MY SIDE BEATING MY HEAD SENSELESS
WHAT THE FUCK
>First enemy you see with the two axes doesn't even have a unique attack move its exactly the same as the lion warriors
>The fucking chain you walk there on is the same as the wooden bridge
>The other enemy with flame spear is the crypt guards in the windmill
Jesus christ they just don't care
The Souls series in general has shitty giant fire bosses, but even among them Old Iron King is the least bad. Dragon God wasn't even a real fucking boss, and Ceaseless Discharge could be killed by running back to the entrance of the room.
YOU DARE ENTER MY DOMAIN? PREPARE TO BE BROUGHT TO SLAUGHTER, BEARER OF THE CURSE
WATCH, AS I POUND MY FIST INEFFECTUALLY RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME, NOT ONCE, NOT TWICE, BUT THREE TIMES WITHIN A MODERATELY FAST SUCCESSION. FOR I STRIKE SO HARD, I DO NOT EVEN NEED TRACKING
PREPARE YOUR ANUS, AS I MAY VARY WELL SWIPE MY CLEAVER DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF ME SEVERAL TIMES, SO HELP ME GOD YOU SHALL DIE IF YOU ARE IN FRONT OF ME WHEN I SLAM THE CLEAVER DOWN UPON THE GROUND
SHOULD YOU SOMEHOW MAKE IT THROUGH, THEN BE WARNED, FOR I MAY SPRAY DARK VOMIT AWAY-NOT BEHIND, NOT TO MY SIDES, NAY, DIRECTLY IN FRONT OF ME
AND SHOULD YOU DARE STAY WITHIN TWO FEET IN FRONT OF ME, WOE IS YOU AS I HAVE A TERRIFYING GRAB MOVE FOR WHOEVER STRAYS CLOSE ENOUGH FOR THAT YOU CAN SMELL MY ROT.
AND IF THIS TERRIFYING ARSENAL ISN'T FRIGHTENING ENOUGH, BEHOLD, MY GREAT AOE ATTACK THAT ONLY TAKES TEN MEASLY SECONDS OF WINDUP BEFORE YOU ARE HIT WITH THE IMMEDIATE POWERS OF THE DARK
I hope you're trolling otherwise this is literally a strawman argument
In case you are actually retarded, that's only one part of the very first level and that one part shows the complexity of an entire level in DaS2
>didn't even model the legs
At least the A team is doing Bloodborne
You guys remember over half of the DaS1 boss fights being shit? I certainly do.
Ceaseless could be killed with like 3 hits. Don't even have to fight him
Moonlight butterfly just spams the same spell. tedious as fuck if melee only.
Gwyndolin and pinwheel were joke/gimmick bosses
3 fucking asylum demon reskins, including smough to some extent
Priscilla was straight up shit
Gwyn was shit
centipede only having like 2 moves only. was "hard" only because of the lava
>bed of chaos
>"B-BUT MUH MIYAZAKI"
Fuck off, the retard isn't special in any way.
>Priscilla was straight up shit
>he killed Priscilla
Why? She didn't do anything to you
Nigga, the level design of the first DLC was a million times better than the base game.
Fuck off with your shit.
>Where's the fun in being skilled and deflecting all an opponents' attacks for little to no damage and following said action with a barrage of attacks yourself?
What? That sounds like textbook fun to me.
>run around the battlefield while avoiding the TWoP aura.
>eventually all four havels are herded close together.
>Equip a flamequart ring and use the sweat pyromancy to avoid fire damage.
>two handed r2 as soon as all four havels are in range
>Press r2 whenever they get up.
>a blob with no limbs?
That would be a rehash as well :^)
I don't even own any current gen consoles, let alone a sony console. Facts are facts, Bloodborne will remain a PS4 exclusive. Stop shitposting.
This shit was hard to find
I hate people who put signs down saying fake wall when you know damn well there isn't a wall there
There should be a Star Rating rather than just saying acknowledge or no
