I would read the Kingdom Hearts novels, but only to see how the author rendered the characters and what new scenes they came up with.

Other than that, the only video game novels I have interest in are novels which take place within the world, but are not stories from the game (see: Elder Scrolls, BioShock, Halo, etc.). Expanded universe type stuff.

I read the entirety of Xenogears' Perfect Works. Good read if you're a fan of the game and want to see what it could've been.

I know what you mean, whenever I try to write a plot I always end up thinking why are certain things that way, like the equipment, architecture and other stuff the character encounter are that way, and before I know I have 10 pages of plot and 100 of worldbuilding and lore.

I read them if I like the story of the game. I don't like the warcraft and starcraft books because generally they are the story for the games and change things from the games, and that pisses me off. So basically when they use novels to retcon everything (blizzard)

I do enjoy some Warhammer books, like the witch hunter trilogy. I like ones that fit with the lore of the world, like if they describe something, I know what that is.

But most of the time they are meh, I call them shitter books, cause you read them while on the toilet, like halo books, gears of war, etc.

I don't get it, I read every single piece of ASoIaF thing out there.

I loved it and now I'm clamoring for something else. I tried reading Gravity's Rainbow and not for the life of me could I enjoy it. It felt like a chore and I couldn't get more than 10 pages in wthout feeling fucking bored.

I try to get the more I can out of the books I read as well with some other pieces of entertainment. I am not trying to say I am a patrician either since it's pointless, but I try to avoid best sellers such as the ones on the OP and try to get into books out of what interests me.
