Why aren't you playing the closest thing to Crash Team Racing 2 we'll ever get, /v/?
No one AT ALL wants to play with me, cause it's a bit more skill based than Mario Kart. Just like how few people want to play fighters with me but everyone is up for some Smash.
It's the kind of game that someone plays specifically to beat all the other players because he/she knows they won't stand a chance if they haven't played as much.
It's not very fun.
>Game goes on sale
>Want to buy it for a friend so we can play
>Hates Sonic because of the fanbase
>Refuses to play the game even though he'd get it for free
What have autists done...
>Hates Sonic because of the fanbase
This guy is a dumbass. I should be hating Zelda, Final Fantasy, Metroid, God of War and a lot of other series just because they have a shit fanbase, but I just ignore them and play the games I like.
kart sections are glorious, but boat and plane sections, while appropriately floaty, are just not for me
But I've already played Crash Team Racing 2.
Okay, maybe I meant more that it's disorienting having to deal with another dimension to navigate.
But the all-plane boost chain maps are literally the worst parts of the game for me.
>MK8 is far better
>People actually believe this
I wish it was just kart. Plane is alright but a bit boring most of the time and boat is just kart but all around worse. The only cool thing you can do in boat is hit a wave and get a solid stunt boost from it.
Still, adore this game. It's one of the better kart racing games out there.
I think one thing MK8 does right is make the underwater and antigravity sections handle exactly the same as the regular kart bits.
They already perfected the formula, why should I have to learn how two separate modes handle?
>It's the kind of game that someone plays specifically to beat all the other players because he/she knows they won't stand a chance if they haven't played as much.
this should actually be etched in stone
I think I agree with you. Kart racing controls is super tight, hovercraft is a little too loose but its acceptable, plane navigation is AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA FUCK I HIT ANOTHER PILLAR. Especially those non-race plane challenges. The ones with the rings. You know the ones.
Which is really disappointing, because the plane STAGES are generally pretty good.
You mean "does absolutely wrong".
Part of why MK8 is so completely boring is because of the fact that upside-down and underwater areas are irrelevant to the gameplay.
>Learn you can shoot backwards
>Demon of the tracks
>Crash cart punishes you for drifting outwards too long and you spin out like if you were really driving
>Drifting other games is always HERE COMES THE TURN KIDDIES FREE BOOST
Why come everyone fucks this up?
Was playing the Golden Axe stage and Ralph (CPU) was stuck on the mouth of that dinosoar thing that holds a super pickup in its mouth for the entire race.
I want to really like this game, but the plane and boat sections are so shit, plane being the worse of the two
>tfw I'm the only one that enjoys flying because it brings back old feelings of SNES Starfox
Like 20 years or whatever of kart racing has gotten me pretty good at them. I'm decent with the hovercraft... there seems to be only so good you can get with those, so that's not too bad. But yeah I do suck with the planes.
I'm the one who called you all bad and I'm surprised that you all have trouble with planes over boats. I can beat any level or challenge on S but the ones I still have trouble with is the boats.
I find one of the keys to plans though is how much easier ti is compared to boats and cars to drift non stop and switch between which way I'm drifting. I try to be always drifting which gives more boost and makes you able to turn at a moments notice.
I do, but it seems like there's always a little bit of delay between the input and the plane movement, and the controls just don't seem very precise
I'm able to do all sorts of maneuvers in a Star Fox game, but the planes in this game just aren't as good.
>trying to use Beat on that map on Expert
>failing 20 times in a row
>decide to use Amy
>win at 1st try.
>get All-Star as Gum
Sorry bitch niggas but you got no chance
Fucking hate that piece of shit level
>hey, you are going pretty fast with the boat right?
>here crash with the ceiling bitch
and that corner.
I hate the map just for that along the ceiling.
>boy you want to do stun boots? Too bad, you'll hit something you can't see shit and let him destroy all the boots and speed you have gained
Does anyone, and I mean ANYONE, know of any good strategies on beating S Class for the Traffic and Pursuit challenges in World Tour?
>mfw I verified this
Well that's one good game we made at least.
A British company called Cross Products made amazing dev kits for the Saturn for Sega. They had to reverse engineer the bloody things. Remember that the Saturn didn't sell well in Britain, so what actually happened was Sega of Japan made the Saturn, sent it to America for translation, Sega of America sent them to Britain to be worked on, only for them to be shipped back to America and Japan as developer kits! They even had switches that automatically switched between PAL and NTSC.
Did they fix the online or something?
I remember back when i bought it, it was impossible to get a decent room going.
These days i get filled rooms pretty quickly with matchmaking.
Hella fun game, at any rate.
If you don't main Amigo or B.D, you don't know shit about vidya.
>around 5th place, making my way up
>some faggot bumps into me
>get knocked out of the track like a cannonball
Is the game buggy or is the netcode just shit?
>we want the Mario Kart 8 audience
>half the roster is now babies
I dream of a beautiful world where we actually get a properly good 3D Sonic game, one that appeals to more that just the usual fans and gets fondly remembered as being more than "good for a Sonic game"...
>INB4 Made in Britain
>brings back feelings of SNES Starfox
Yeah, it is the same as a pad. You have just as much precise control with a keyboard as you do a controller. I use controllers for platformers and stuff like DMC m8, but a keyboard works solid for this game.
Maybe some day I shall continue.
The boat controls are my bane.
>race of ages
>lead asshole picks boat track
Don't forget that they also made this. And it was amazing
dat cross-platform compatibility with the PSP version...
You can't even swap save files between two different consoles today. Maybe Boom wouldn't be so bad if a UK firm did it instead of Big Red Button.
>No crossplatform with different consoles
>Can't play tekken with ps3 friends on my wii u
>tfw you want to play online and see tailoser in the lobby
Online is pretty shit. I did all the other single-player stuff, including leveling. And I don't have any PC capable controllers
because I did it all on a keyboard
Metal Sonic the best.
Because I don't have enough space on my device
SEGA needs to relearn how to make mobile games. We went from a full-blown 3D Monkey Ball to this in only two years
>trying to beat S-Class
I feel like such a fucking casual. I can do B-Class fine, and on a good day I can do A-Class, but S-Class? Ha, nope, ur 2 slo, enjoy ur 6-7th place.
As for my main, I tend to use Vyse a lot. I unlocked him, did the obligatory 'try out the new guy' routine, and I've been using him ever since.
I still can't get over Tails face,I mean just look at it
because the rubberbanding is ridicoulus and getting hit by items hurt you too much making the game quite some rng bullshit
actually, it's because i S ranked the whole career mode and got burned out after playing a lot online and with /v/, i still see the group announcements from time to time
In my experience, you will never actually get good. It doesn't matter how fucking good you actually are, the AI will STILL completely fuck you up, because it wants to see you suffer. Perfect drifting, perfect item usage, none of those things will help you if the AI has decided you should lose.
>Tfw beating every challenge on S-class is one of my proudest gaming achievements
It wasn't too difficult once I
got gudand learned that high speed and low handling is the way to go.
I use General Winter too
I used to feel the same until I actually went through and S-ranked career mode.
Just experiment with drift turns more. Its actually not hard; just make damn sure you play with a controller and not a keyboard
That's true until you start playing Burning Depths.
Honestly, I got through S rank using what I thought would be the best options, for instance using pure speed on the coast level or using accel on places like burning depths or chilly castle
>The online is dead
then why did I just start the game and get in a full lobby?
Never had any issue with stickers, but yeah that's just me.
>Race of Ages
It's like Rainbow Road, except it's not a rainbow, and it was made by Satan.
Don't know about stickers, but the achievements are fucked up for me. Several haven't unlocked (like All-star) despite me having filled the conditions several times over.
