Why will it be so good?
Also post some gameplay
How is that running on the WiiU? inb4 pre-rendered/fake
As a WiiU owner I'm really excited about this.
The damn thing has done nothing but collect dust since December.
What bothers me is that it won't sell anything at all, just like W101. I hope this doesn't fuck up things for Platinum in the long run with other publishers.
I just finished the first one 5 minutes ago, Normal mode. Is there anything worth exploring now besides upping the difficulty to hard?
Platinum are fucking magicians at squeezing out power from underpowered hardware. Coupled with Nintendo's inhouse tools and engineers at their disposal they will make Bayo2 look fucking amazing.
I really don't understand how Platinum game's look so good. Might not be technically impressive as they're smart enough to confine themselves to smaller stages, but every single thing looks so fucking polished.
>fighting father rodin
Why am I laughing, goddamn it Platinum
It's the polish and art direction. 60FPS gameplay and colorful visual (even in their blandest games) makes everything look great.
MGR isn't a beast when it comes to TECHNOLOGY, but it's smooth animations and combat just puts it ahead of other action games from last year. Could even run this way on consoles, and that's embarrassing to modern devs.
If I was making this scene and trying to find an excuse to make it look cool like that I'd say that there's some sort of danger above that will stop anyone from crossing the water if it sees them. So the kid makes the tunnel of water so the thing, whatever it is, can't see her cross.
am i missing something? i thought she just needed something to dodge and activate witch time, so she needed the water to actually cross ? or hell, i cant remember if she can activate it at any time
Which is something that Bayonetta isn't ironically. Even the 360 (And the WiiU as well, judging from the Treehouse footage) suffers from regular framedrops if there's too much shit on-screen. I agree with everything else, though. Love the world of Bayonetta despite how ridiculous the characters look and how dumb the plot is.
I hope they don't repeat the same shit with 2 when it comes to fps though.
Still DMC got rave reviews and MGR got panned for "Begin too frustrating".
Platinum doesn't give a shit to pander to some blogger who has a weekend to finish a game review.
Games since 2005/6 have been developed to be as pain-free and skill-free as possible to garner favor with those kind of people. It's no longer about making a mechanically interesting game, but to make shit explode and make the player feel awesome for doing nothing.
Every once in a while a game like MGR comes along that requires some trial and error, timing and skill to progress. This frustrates journos who have grown accustomed to 'button-->Awesome' and instead of apply themselves and getting more into the game, they either stop and give it a shitty score, or lowers the difficulty to baby-mode and pans the game for being 'too frustrating'
Sega handled the PS3 port of Bayo 1.
Bayo on the 360 was specifically tailored to that hardware and it shows.
They ported it without Platinum's consent and it brought them 'shamefurr dispray'.
They redeemed themselves in Vanquish, which is pretty much the same on both platforms.
Those framedrop in Bayo1 keeps me from putting it above the DMC game for me (and other nit-picky problems). I destroy the framerate when in combat, especially in repeat playthroughs where I have all of my stylish moves unlocked.
If there was an option to get rid of some of the extra effects spewing across the screen, I think that would've helped.
>Cap it at 45
Good idea. It will probably happen once the Xbone starts struggling with keeping up with the PS4.
They'd rather cap the framerate on both platforms than drop the resolution on the bone.
Funniest thing is, MGR isn't really that hard either. You'll have some problems in Very Hard and possibly Revengeance (if you haven't gotten perfect parrying down), but Normal and Hard were fairly cakewalk.
>Play Angel Slayer
>Can only get to the final verse with the healing item
>Get my shit pushed in the final verse anyway
>Never got past the 3 Jeannes
>Still pretty sure it's not the final boss
>Each time I give it a try, I burn 3 hours
Any tips for a scrub like me? The entire game is pussy shit compared to the Lost Level and Rodin.
She can only run across the water in Witch Time, the first Bayonetta had similar little puzzles where you had to dodge something to activate Witch Time and freeze water into platforms.
You guys think they'll pull off 60fps in Bayo 1?
Seems like they've landed it in Bayo 2 considering the footage we've seen.
Not going to lie, I wasn't paying attention when I picked a webm.
>You guys think they'll pull off 60fps in Bayo 1?
Check the treehouse footage, same framerate drops as the 360 version so far.
2 seems to have constant 60 fps so far, though. Which is fucking awesome.
How embarrassing, I seemed to have forgotten my face.
W101 is an all around amazing game, first time in a long time a game's managed to get genuine smiles out of me
I was very disappointed with MGR's difficulty, I'm not really very good at video games but Normal Mode was such a fucking cakewalk. The only real hard time I had with it was Senator Armstrong, but it was mostly because of those cutting segments. Wish someone told me to start it in Hard mode in the first playthrough.
>They ported it without Platinum's consent
What a crock of shit. Of course they gave consent, they literally didn't have the manpower for it.
The fact that they gave consent to what became a clearly inferior port is what they consider their only failure in the company's history.
And still it sold much more than the 360 version ever did so the shitty version gave much more product awareness than the original version so it's not like it was a completely shitty idea.
W101 looks great. I wish I had more of a reason to buy a WiiU.
That's what I'm slowly starting to realize, Normal mode is the old Easy mode. Sad thing is, and I still don't fucking understand why they do this in games, Hard mode is usually locked in the first playthrough.
I think most of us would have given up on the game if Very Hard was released as Normal.
No other games strike your fancy? I'm tempted to get one for 101, Bayo 2, Hyrule Warriors, and Smash. Plus that ink TPS and probably Mario Kart.
Its to make people feel better about themselves and make the game more accessible. They still give us "hardcore fans" what we want with hard and difficulties like Master Ninja, but they also realize that they need to draw in more people so they make normal easier rather than making fun of you by having you start on easy if you're terrible.
>Giving up all my angel shekels to fight Rodin.
>He bends me over and megaton slams his cock into my ass with an inane flow of consecutive moves whenever I so much as chip his health bar past green.
Fuck that bald bastard. I didn't buttrape my way through nonstop infinite climax for this shit.
Wonderful 101 is
really fun.Takes a bit to get used to, but once you've gotten the grand scheme of things down it's absolutely sublime. The boss fights are inferior to Bayonetta's in my opinion, especially the last one.
Not a fan of Smash and I didn't like Xenoblade Chronicles, but I'm still open to the new game and will wait and see if it's better. Better to just wait for more games to pile in.
they really call even easier mode normal and make it default. it's the casuals they want to rope in and they're the ones they have the hardest time convincing. if someone can't finish a game the chance of them buying a sequel is practically zero.
Right, and casuals dominate the market now so they have to do something to appease them while still not patronizing them. Most people, casuals or no, think they're good enough at video games to not have to start a game on easy.
Yeah, I did the mistake of buying a PS3 early and it took 4/5 years before it started shelling out "worth it" titles. (I've honestly started playing my PS3 a lot more often than my 360 nowadays)
Now I'm avoiding being an early adopted.
I think I only still own 10 Wii games. The rest have been digital older games (that I could've emulated, but didn't give a shit), and some Gamecube games I managed to recover from friends that were about to sell them.
If you liked Bayo you'll probably like W101.
I'm hoping there's more boss battles against enemies that aren't just screen-filling masses. I honestly like more 1v1/2/3 fights against opponents my size (if not a bit bigger).
> Does Platinum have any other plans for WiiU games?
Depends if Nintendo is willing to fund it. W101 was a pretty big bomb so if you want more Platinum you will need to buy Bayo2.
He might, it would be cool if you could find other dragons or someshit.
I'm interested to see how the flight and swordplay mechanics tie together, it could be pretty fun.
But we still don't know what type of game it is I guess.
>>"I need to love anyone, an angel or an everything to listen to [...]
win [...] Understanding it disappears in a pile like a like [sic] the angel to whom ambiguous [unintelligible]"
Didn't you get the memo? Almost nothing interesting is happening this year, everything has been pushed back to 2015. This includes the first real gameplay footage of everything from Battlefront 3 to Mirror's Edge 2 to Scalebound.
I wish more devs would do that. It's nice that Sonic unleashed on ps3 runs at 60 but if it has framedrops, it's really noticeable. Especially if you are playing as the werehog due to it being slower so any speed drops are even more noticeable.
We all know that Scalebound will be Kamiya's greatest masterpiece.
Boy, you ain't seen nothing yet.
Because it's a Metal Gear game. There are a LOT of MG fans (myself included).
>noone ever mentions platinums true master piece
In the first game there's an item that lets you use it at will but it drains your magic like a motherfucker. However even if it returns they wouldn't base a set piece around needing it
Honestly I don't see vs modes ever working in games like DMC or Bayonetta. Ninja Gaiden tried it and it was terrible. Not sure how god of war's multiplayer is (will be? Did it come out?), but never been that impressed with god of war's engine anyway.
It'd just be like those 1v1 boss fights except with both guys turtling.
Well as long as there is no gay shit, whenever I think about women taking charge I always think about the beta shit I see in porn. Sticking something up your ass, cuckold shit, etc. It's never the women getting super horny and slutty and letting you or forcing you to suck her tits or something.
Bayonetta and DMC are both designed to dodge and then go offensive immediately afterwards. This means that the attacker will always be at the disadvantage if their opponent manages to dodge them. Ranged attacks are also rather overpowered in these games because they're harder to dodge since the animation for the attack and the connection of the attack happen at about the same time. This means that gunslingers would have the supreme advantage in DMC.
In Bayonetta, the game has a heavy focus on witch time. Bullet time almost never works well in multiplayer games, and if they somehow managed to get witch time to work simply because it's a 1v1, then again there is NO motivation to attack because your opponent will immediately dodge it and then you're helpless.
>Mikami has stated that the game is being developed with the PlayStation 3 as its lead platform in an effort to "help avoid dodgy PS3 ports", commenting that it was a "great success."[
are you serious. We will get more characters to play as than bayonetta and jeanne. in fucking bayonetta
Talked about it here
Well the first one that springs to mind is one I found on thursday. Karmen Karma-Keep it in the family. It's on xvideos, and it's western so you're probably going to stick your nose up at it but it's got some nice dominate female stuff without the pegging or whatever that you're terrified of.
well, of course there'd need to be some tweaks. but it could work.
anyway, I don't really care that much. it'd be interesting to see in the future though. still a very young medium.
well you already play as this kid in story mode at some point. Lumen Sage and the kid are both probably co-op anyways. it adds flavor and replay to the game
dead rising was developed for pc, ps4 and xbox one before microsoft partnered with them, microsoft also oesn't own the ip.
Microsoft owns the scalebound IP, and it has been developed ground up on xbox.
As sad as it it is
I would rather they developed Bayo 2 as multiplat, because while it looks a bit bland (don't really play or really like DMC-esque games) I enjoyed MGR, and I would like to see more but I won't buy a Wii U just for it
>>254992286 since Jeanne looks like she has Bayo1s moveset with the guns, i wonder if he will come back and get something slightly different
>Mech video showed dead Affinity's on the ground
>Loki can manipulate time
>You probably get to play through the witch hunts
>There will be a lead-up to the falling clock tower segment
As cool as that design is, it's pretty clear by this point that Loki isn't a sage. He'll end up being that overseer that Luka was talking about in the February direct trailer.
I don't even really like nintendo much anymore, but I see no reason to own any of the others. at least wiiu doesn't have a retarded controller now and it seems powerful enough. you should be getting the pc version of multiplats anyway.
I do wish that DMC4 had a co-op function.
The challenge for me will be picking between scalebound and bayonetta 2. Ironically if i was buying a console right now I'd be snubbing them both and buying a PS4 since Phantom Pain looks insanely good on the PS4.
most likely. i wonder if he will have anything in common with the Loki from Norse mythology. i would laugh if it spoiled a lot
Why do Xbone and PS4 fanboys pretend that people a upset about Bloodborne and Scalebound?
Everyone knows Bayonetta 2 is the true "NEVER EVER" exclusive
Heh, with Rodin's alternate santa skin and Enzo's character drawing and screenshots showing him dropping a bunc of presents and his ugly fucking mug inside a toy store, this game might take place on Christmas.
Anyway, great gameplay video. The twin swords are practically a reskin of Shuraba since its moveset in that practice room is pretty much the same. It has the same attacks but with different animations, it's cool. They're trying to show even the old stuff with a slightly newer look.
They talked about this before but seeing it gives a much better impression, the fact that we can use our regular moveset after picking up an Angel Arm is really useful. That means I don't have to pick it up only when I want to use it.
>Backtracking to get all the verses again
This was the WORST fucking thing in the first game (and in Metal Gear Rising) so I'm SO glad they're bringing it back.
it does take place on chirstmas. E3 2014 shows that when Jeanne and Bayonetta talk about caviar and christmas or some shit. good stuff.
This video has direct audio with the new battle music. same for the new results screen music.
not every game needs co-op either. what's your point? it would be a hell of a lot more interesting if done right than what we're getting. I don't see much appeal in fighting the same enemies with someone but just with slightly more health/damage, or whatever. the main draw of playing with others is that you can get more challenge than from a predictable AI. just my two cents anyway.
I have no idea. Its either just a direct reference in his design or maybe it helps him with his powers like in pic related
How long before release did TW101 get a demo? I hope we get one, but preferrably around the time it comes out in Japan just so I have something to tide myself over until release. Otherwise I'll probably resort to looking up spoilers/gameplay vids, and I don't want it to come to that.
Just the jet planes chapter from E3. That's all I need.
Because designing netcode around a hack n slash game would be hell as it is (I guess Anarchy Reigns did it, but it's not as fast paced as Bayonetta). Plus Bayo 2 will likely be populated with a small worldwide playerbase, so you have to account for network connections and latency.
But then also coop is just more in tune with the essence of the game - stylish, sadistic combat. What better way to expand upon that concept than with two players dominating and juggling enemies between them?
i think co-op was their solution to farming halos for weapons/accesories without it being boring as fuck
Oops forgot to add that developers can be more forgiving with the netcode for online coop games than competetive ones, because lag compensation can result in some bullshit on both ends. That's basically what I was getting at.
>more powerful than Xbox 360
New blog post yesterday
>Let’s start by discussing what the effects section actually does. The short version is, we make the fire, the smoke, the heavy rain, and the snowfall. We make the visual effects for each move and magic attack. Our job is important for setting the tone for the game, giving it the right atmosphere, and the right feel.
>you will never be bullied by Bayonetta
What's the point of being alive?
Its called baking. There's no realtime lighting happening: the lighting is all locked into the textures.
There's also very extensive use of distance shifted level-of-detail and sky-boxes.
You're not the only one, loads of people hate her proportions. I can definitely see where you're coming from but I really like how exaggerated her design is
Is there a Bayonetta version of pic related
I played this at the Nintendo Event when it started. I haven't had this much fun and excitement playing a videogame in years. Everything is refined to perfection. The controls, the combos, the umbra climax, the enemies, the boss battle was fucking amazing. I was smiling.
This game guys.. holy shit this game.
I want to meet Kamiya and thank him for this.
please stop. I will never witness the perfection myself unless a demo is released, which may or may not happen. We dont even have an exact release day yet
W101 has made me run the gamut of emotion. It's truly a great game, but it can be so obtuse with some mechanics that it takes awhile to appreciate it. Basically, you have to git gud first.
If not for Kamiya it wouldn't have happened in the first place, so yeah Kamiya is to thank.
Ill be honest. I fucking HATE bayonetta. Not the games but the actual character. Her design is just so...stupid looking. That fucking hair and voice are probably the most irritating of all. I know she gives off this "female power" vibe but I feel that she is just too overly sexual in like...everything. "yes, you are sexy, we fucking get it now quit spreading your legs at every combat opportunity". I dont mind that people want their characters to use some sexy moves here and there, but when thats your entire thing, your entire fucking look its just too much. It feels forced. I just really fucking hate this character, and I would rather them put in...ANYONE ELSE in the game. CD Projekt said something similar about over sexualization. In marketing, sex does not sell. You use it to catch the eye and let it hold the attention while you try to sell the actual product. The rest of the game is good, but this character pretty much ruins the entire game for me.
The thing that bugs me most is that now she has short hair, so instead of imagining that her coming off her head, flowing down and wrapping around her to become her clothes, then back up into the beehive, it's just like... body hair? Pubes? Her head hair isn't connected to her clothes any more, so it's kind of fucked up.
I doubt a demo is coming. W101 got nothing but shit for it because casuals cant do games. Bayonetta doesn't have the drawing mechanic people inexplicably couldn't use but it isn't for scrubs.
i dont know if youre baiting, but i thought the same about the first game. im dont care about feminism or any of that bullshit. but it just looked like a game sold on sex, which, because i wasnt 12, i didnt care about. years later, i somehow found myself watching a boss fight. it looked fucking amazing. it looked insane and i wanted to play it. now that its coming out bundled with bayonetta 2 i'll get to play it. im looking forward to the games and no longer care about the character designs or portrayals. it just looks fun, and thats really all i care about
I hate faggots like you who feel the need to vent their frustrations on /v/.
Opinions are fine, but don't go full autism typing paragraphs about how much you hate/love something. No one cares that much about your opinion.
Like I said, the rest of the game, is fucking fine. The Monsters and Bosses are great...its just the main character. How the fuck am I supposed to get into a game where the entire time the chick is spinning around like a tard spreading her legs and getting undressed? I cant do it.
The woman in video is happy to play this game was pleasant. thank you for video source.
One big flaw in the "all sex appeal in games is misogynist" is that lesbians enjoy female sex appeal also.
that sucks because Bayo1 got a demo. But it is an entirely different group of people.
Reminder of the weapons revealed so far in Bayonetta 2:
Love is Blue (New handguns)
Rakshasa (New swords, foot equippable)
Kafka (Poison bug bow)
Undine (Ice/Flamethrowers, foot equippable)
Unnamed Jet Hammer that summons Hecatoncheir
>tfw I want to replay the first game but also want to keep it fresh for when I replay the Wii U version
It used to be that the norm was sexualized women so it was refreshing that there were female power characters, now that is the norm, so it's nice that we still get these kinds of characters.
So I'm not sure what the thing in the top middle of the screen is for.
or the rainbow infinity marker. 1P's lock on is red lips and 2P's is blue so it can't be that.
Nah, that timer only shows up when the other player dies.
the whole thing in the middle which looks like a crescent moon meter and half of an infinity sign is always there.
The infinity sign only shows up on that thing when it's on an enemy too.
But thats fucking wrong you tard. I hate SJW bullshit more than most. I think that entire movement is full of retards who believe that they can change the whole planet and societies issues by yelling and crying about feelings. They are like hippies in hyperdrive mode. But I cant enjoy a boss, when you got THAT running around. Sure characters can be sexualized but there is a point where its too far and clearly that character took it past that.
People just don't understand how it works
>Bayonetta 2 was not happening like at all
>Nintendo offers to fund it
>FUCK YOU PLATINUM FOR PUTTING THIS ON WII U I HATE YOU UGH IM KILLING MYSELF
>But I cant enjoy a boss, when you got THAT running around.
Why? It's a big dumb game about killing weird abrahamic looking angels with your witch hair which summons demons. How does the sexualization ruin any of this? It's tongue in cheek.
I think you need a bigger shot of that backstory OP
Bayo's textures and lighting are terrible. Vanquish was running at fucking 1024x768 resolution and at 30fps. MGR I don't even need to explain.
I love their gameplay and all, but come on.
This is what I don't get. If you're going to get that mad about it then you should be a pretty big Bayonetta fan, and if you're that big a fan then biting the bullet and getting a Wii U can't be that hard of a decision. If it is then I don't understand how they have such...passionate reactions.
>I hate SJW bullshit more than most.
>But I cant enjoy a boss, , when you got THAT running around.
You don't like this sexualization, some people do, there are plenty of games that have nonsexual female characters now, enjoy them.
A vs. mode in DMC would be an awful idea. You'd never be able to even touch top-level players because they'd just royal guard everything then catch you in an infinite air combo.
In the way that you're running through a level and then suddenly out of nowhere press X to not die, too bad you died now that affects your score at the end of the level. You basically have to be aware that QTEs are coming up or your score is gonna suck at the end of the level. Its not like you lose more than a minute of progress either. So more than just tedious, its detrimental.
oh god they are playing bayonetta on the stream trying to get platinum
there are only like 2 that are in actual cutscenes the rest of them are still attached to gameplay
plus they give you a ton of time to do them
not to mention there are only like 4 or 5 that you actually need to do
i can only think of 3 that actually do that
and only one of them makes you mash the button
if you really have that much trouble pressing a button when the game prompts you then maybe it really isnt the type of game for you
gross, it looks like fucking action figures. give me superior 30 fps please.
>inb4 b-but 60 fps is objectively smoother!
Smoother maybe, but that doesn't mean better. 30 fps looks more cinematic and carries more weight.
But it isn't. Smoother does not linearly correlate with better, and 60fps makes things have less impact and weight. This is why The Hobbit looked underwhelming and jarring in 48fps and was changed to 24. 30fps is closer to the 24fps used in cinema and carries more weight. It looks better aesthetically.
Unless the game is a multiplayer game with very intensive frame based interactions such as SF4's "plinking" 60fps is largely superfluous and in my opinion not worth the worse visuals. 60 fps also means you have to sacrifice graphical fidelity elsewhere.
PC has more features, like a boss rush. It performs better too, you won't have things like this happening.
>implying the gameplay difference that's a result of 60 instead of 30 fps in any way makes up for both 60 fps' ugly visuals and sacrificing visuals elsewhere
What's important for gameplay is mechanics, not halving the response of button inputs.
But what if the mechanics are built for fast-paced, reflexive gameplay? Then you obviously go with the faster framerate. Look at arena shooters and action games like Unreal and DMC4 respectively
You're such an idiot, dude. Seriously. It's INTENDED to be entirely over-the-top. You are NOT smarter or more observant than the writers, designers, programmers, 3d modelers, scripters, motion-capture riggers, directors, and producers. They made the game exactly as they intended to.
6/10 If it's pasta, I fell for it, but I really hope you're just an everyday idiot that hopefully learned something.
30 fps looks more cinematic and carries more weight.
>60fps makes things have less impact and weight.
For all the benefits of 60fps I sincerely, sincerely agree with this. However Platinum games are not so bad about it.
You don't understand. A game with out of place 60fps that feels too "light" feels unsatisfying to play for me. I'm not even talking specificall about Bayo/other Platinum games, but rather something like MGS or Zelda.
>A game with out of place 60fps that feels too "light" feels unsatisfying to play for me
good for you but you arent everyone and that doesnt mean 30 fps is better
MGS 2 ran higher then 30 fps on ps2
I'm sick of every thread some faggot ass fanboy posts screencaps of almost two fucking years ago and there was not an outcry like that ever again just to fit their pyscho agenda that "they are the best fanbase"
Fucking shit stay outta these fucking threads you're not even a fan of Bayonetta
>tfw this is what pants will look like in the future
And Umbran Climax.
And a new beast within.
And new weapons.
And new powers.
And new TA.
And new enemies.
And changed the bullet climax completely.
And new ways to manage your magic gauge.
And new combos.
>game obviously created with heavy executive meddling to appeal to the western audience, hasn't even had any gameplay shown
>versus a sequel to Kamiya's personal game-baby that already shows improvements over its also stellar predecessor
Faster, more fluid, more combo options, more hype, enemies are more aggressive and work together like a team, better visuals.
Magic burns a lot easier (bullet climax/360 attacks in general consume pearls), beast withing works slightly different (although you can still use panther offset) so spamming panther+dodge to gain time/pearls is off the question.
