hey guys just woke up from a 7 year coma what'd i miss?
>2007 was 7 years ago
You can go back to sleep, you woke up too soon.
The only marginally positive thing in that time has been the resurgence of "hard" genres like roguelikes, but even then they've kinda been mangled to hell and back.
FPS games still dominate the multiplayer landscape, with the exception of the resurgence of DOTA.
So everything old is new again.
>just pretend video games died seven years ago
no need to pretend, that really happened
Konami sells a demo of their upcoming Metal Gear game for 30 US dollars
Chad Warden was a propjet and lead Sony into golden throne.
Xbox crashed and burned due to idiots at helm, RIP.
Nintendo is the same shit as always, zero change.
Ubisoft amd EA are the new devil, Activision just exists,
From what I've read so far they seem like computers you can't maintain yourself.
The whole point of a console was to have your're friends over and play mario kart for 6 hours.
Online play shoulda stayed on PC, if it hadn't devs would have been forced to stay being creative.
Nintendo released a handheld with 3D support called the 3DS but it didn't give them enough shekels so they made a version without 3D support called the 2DS instead. Still no Half-Life 3.
I have some good news for you, anon...
All Dreamcast was was an arcade port machine. Only 2 games worth a damn that werent just arcade games was Shenmue and Code Veronica, the later of which got a superior ps2 port anyway. The controller was utter garbage too. I remember it taking 15 minutes to enter codes in MK Gold due to shitty D-pad.
>tfw i graduated high school in 2007 and haven't done anything meaningful since
i mean, i have a full time job and i recently moved into a house with a bunch of people from bands i like but fuck man
Brawl came out and literally everyone stopped playing after a month and went back to Melee. It was that bad.
Massive increase in the number of video game players over the past few years since 2009. Some alright games came out.
Consoles are a rip off but developers are shying away from PC due to piracy, and most developers in general just make mobile games now.
oh yeah, smart phones are much stronger now than they were before, so they can play some alright games.
That fish game
Sword of the Berzserk
That's off the top of my head.
There was also this survival horror where you played as a chick.
Games are insanely easy now
Graphics really haven't gotten that much better at all
Survival Horror is fucking dead, Resident Evil and Silent Hill have actually gotten worse
So many old IPs died
Duke Nukem Forever came out and it was awful
Metal Gear Solid Ground Zeroes is pretty much the Tanker prologue from MGS2 sold at $20-$40.
- Valve stopped making video games and now develops malware that forces you to run a client in order to access PC games.
- We've removed primitive notions of "ownership" by pushing people to buy digital-only copies of games at retail price.
- Hobbyists are now considered "artists" and go to conferences where they preach to publishers on how to make triple A games.
- E.A is still shit.
Starcitizen, a crowdfunded space sim, has almost reached 50 million dollars funding.
You pay for digital starships that you can look at in your hangar, while more hype news are posted almost daily.
The killing blow to me it feels like was the fact that it was $60 on release, and now you can probably get it for like less than $3 in such a short period of time.
All that fucking hype for nothing.
jesus christ. thats the shit we used to think was funny.
fucking kill me
Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze = Donkey Kong Country Returns
Mario Kart 8 = Mario Kart 7
Super Mario 3D World = Super Mario 3D Land
Currently in the works:
Kirby's Rainbow Curse = Kirby's Canvas Curse
Yoshi's Woolly World = Epic Kirby/Yoshi's New Island
Bayonetta 2 = Bayonetta
>There's an alternate reality where Dreamcast succeeded.
>GTA III, Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy X all become Sega exclusives.
>2KGames replaces EA Sports as the biggest sports game publisher.
>Sonic's mainstream appeal keeps him free from faggotry while Jak + Daxtar becomes the furfag cult series popular with autistics.
It could have been beautiful.
I know this is bait but I don't give a fuck
>Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze = Donkey Kong Country Returns
playable cranky kong, playable dixie kong. One of the best platformers ever made.
>Mario Kart 8 = Mario Kart 7
What the fuck do you expect out of Mario Kart
>Super Mario 3D World = Super Mario 3D Land
Confirmed for having not played it if you honestly think this.
>Kirby's Rainbow Curse = Kirby's Canvas Curse
People have been asking for a new Canvas Curse for YEARS now and it's suddenly a bad thing when they do make one.
>Yoshi's Woolly World = Epic Kirby/Yoshi's New Island
Sequel to a game that came out in fucking 1995 that uses elements of a more recent game. No problem here.
>Bayonetta 2 = Bayonetta
Sequel to one of the best action games of our day and age, raises the stakes and greatly improves upon it's predecessor. By your logic ANY SEQUEL is equal to the game before it.
Dreamcast graphics > PS2 graphics.
I thought you would know this.
No, just no. The only good thing I can think that is better on the Dreamcast has more progressive scan games, but that makes the framerate tank in a lot of games.
Something like, just thinking off the top of my head, Burnout Revenge looks better than anything the Dreamcast has to offer.
>people born in 1996 are now legal adults
That boggles my mind even more.
>people born in 2000 will be freshman in high school this year
I always thought it was just my mind when I thought PS2 games looked dull and washed out, especially compared to DC games. Then I learned about the 4MB and 8MB VRAM difference. Yuck.
