Fallout NV was more realistic all around while 3 had a better atmosphere. 3 had way better side quests then NV, but 3 had shitty DLC and main story line. The only thing I hate about the games is 3's speech system and NV being more linear in the beginning part.

They're all pretty good.

Dead Money is super punishing and desperate(almost annoyingly so at times) and it has a great cast of characters who all play into the setting and themes really well. Narratively, my favorite out of all of them.

Old World Blues seems like a fan favorite. Has great exploration and loot, as well as an awesome new player home and some funny NPCs and easter eggs all over the place. Storywise, it's alright I guess. Nothing worth writing home about.

Lonesome Road ends the story arc hinted at throughout all the DLCs and is meant to be a climax to your personal story. It's somewhat linear with secrets and other things hidden off the beaten path, but it has great unique armor and weapons as well as a pretty cool antagonist and companion. Depending on the ending you choose, it can open up two new locations to explore in the Mojave which have more unique armor sets.

They're all worth playing at one point or another.

If you nuke the Legion and NCR it opens up new locations for both of them. The NCR one opens up the Long 15 at the Mojave Outpost, and the Legion one opens up the Twisted Hair's camp at Cottonwood Cove. You can nuke both of them in the same ending, but it fucks up your rep with a bunch of factions for essentially ending the world again.

Doing my first melee character run in Fallout 1 and holy shit is this ever great, maybe too easy. I had a much harder time small guns and I've pretty always made characters that revolve around guns in one shape or another. What huge mistake. I took down the Mama Deathclaw with a supersledge by repeatedly targeting her right leg until it was crippled and she could only move 3 tiles per turn. The I started swinging for it's eyes and moving away 4 tiles. All in all, way easier, maybe too easy, and you don't have to dick around with ammo which is nice for once.

Melee, throwing(grenades) and gambling. What a great combo.

Yeah, I just went up to Kane and killed him in three shots. Unfortunately for him I have powered armor and a super sledge. He did do a bit of damage to me though but unfortunately for him I am also jinxed so he critically missed and lost his next turn but it's not a big deal because he's dead. I could see this guy being a pain though if you weren't at end game equipment and level wise.
