>>251498776 Trust me when I say that Pikmin 3's time limits are extremely lenient. Pikmin 2 doesn't even have a time limit, and the time of day pauses when you go underground, so you might be more into that.

>>251495781 Y'know, I played 1 and 2 a bit and I thought that they were excellent games though I never really could get significantly attached or involved with them. However, I've been playing 3 and I think I finally see the light.
Pikmin isn't comfy at all. Maybe the second one kinda comes close in places but it's still pretty hostile and you can lose shitloads of Pikmin at the drop of a hat.
The first one in particular is anti-comfy, with an incredibly isolated alien atmosphere, a fairly strict time limit that makes you rush around in order to avoid wasting days (which are themselves shorter than the days in the later games), and the fact that losing more than a couple Pikmin is a big deal.
I replayed it recently and Gaea's Navel was one of the more stressful experiences I've had in a game lately.
Yeah. Between the convoluted design of the area, the water, the darkness, the fire-breathing enemies that would decimate any non-red Pikmin, the mushroom thing that could take over your Pikmin, and Beady Long Legs, it was a pretty terrible place. Distant Spring was fucking serene by comparison.

NSMBU is the best NSMB by a fair bit, but it's still NSMB. Which means it's still wholly generic, derivative, and fairly soulless as it tries to recapture the feeling of 2D Mario games. Pikmin 3 on the other hand is an incredibly solid entry in the series, its only real sin is being short.
