I don't think a single game back then was localized well, but at least some of them had actual plotlines that were intriguing (not tales games).
I just wish that more RPGs would display what it's actually like to be the "hero" as a teenager.
The fact that they even added the option to run away from it all in a linear RPG is amazing to me.
He has suspicions that her JRPG quest tower unlocker / orb collector whatever are slowly killing her, so he gives her hot coffee, says it's actually ice coffee, and then reveals that it's actually boiling hot.
She can't feel it because every JRPGquest progress she makes is actually killing her.
It's actually a pretty decent scene.
Is there a character who shares the same stereotype as Colette who hasn't had a shitty voice actor?
Or is it really just in the nature of the character to have everything she says sound limp?
Nope, it's hot.
I wish I knew what you're talking about.
I'm willing to admit that the dungeons in Abyss seems to be lacking. Every "puzzle" was using one of the two Mieu abilities on an obvious switch.
Honestly, as someone who adores Abyss, I have to agree.
reminder that abyssion in ps3 symphonia went super sayian while his cut in still shows red and is noticably worse than the gc/ps2 ones
you had one fucking job baba
I wish they would have redone the models or something. Presea's Elize costume was disappointing as hell. She really is cute, but the game was way too outdated. I hope they make Symphonia skins and put them in a future tales game
>Top ten will always be guys
I'm okay with that.
Wait a sec
So the Tales games are basically Fujioshi bait?
Oh my god, it all makes sense now why the characters and the plot are so terrible!
This has potential to be used to bait JRPG-fags for months!
>Jade isn't number 1
>Raven isn't number 2
Leon got removed from the poll because he always stole first or second place. And even with that Judas scored a place in the top ten.
>Jade isn't number 1
>this amount of shit taste
leon and judas are the same person though
I remember Leon, I don't remember Judas.
>removing characters because they were liked
>not liking Jade
Oh, right. That. I don't remember them even changing his name, I just remember that he died and turned evil. It's been like 10 years anon.
He took first so many times that he and Leon were banned from the polls
Yuri and Leon got promoted to the "Hall of Fame" because they keep stealing the first/second spot in popularity polls and that was rather boring and predictable.
Depends on the game, but in general, the Tales games are a blast to play
Shut up, nerd.
The fact that this tales game mentioned coffee offended me. Therefore I think it is shit.
>Emil more popular than Llyod
JESUS FUCKING CHRIST RAGE FUEL MY ARMS TENSED FOR REAL
Fuck you japan fuck you so much
Just play it in Japanese dude, Tales games require no real understanding of moon to go through and get everything. Especially since these days they basically railroad you to wherever you need to go next in the plot.
>b-but I won't know the story
>implying you didn't already play it in english or didn't watch the cutscenes online by this point.
That movie was terrible. It fucks with shit in the game's story and changes Alexei's motivation from "I have no idea what they villain wants to do because the game won't explain it" to "wow, that's really fucking stupid"
Every fucking thread.
Yes, he could have, but he was a lazy shit who didn't want to have to explain unnecessary complex things to children.
He comes to regret his actions later.
They're equally good.
That game had several tedious moments.
They were easy.
That dungeon is such a drag, I want to die.
I love Sheena, and I enjoy her story, but her backstory is well, kind of fucking STUPID.
>Hey guys, let's send the nine year-old to go make a pact with a summon spirit who is hostile to humans.
>OH SHIT SHE FAILED AND NOW VOLT IS BEATING THE SHIT OUT OF THE VILLAGE FUCK
>This is the NINE YEAR OLD'S fault. There is no way we could've waited until she was older and more experienced in her training.
Fuck the people of Mizuho.
>they can't just kill the fish.
No one said they were hard. The problem is that it's a puzzle just for the sake of being a puzzle. I was 17 when the game came out, and I was stupid like most teenagers, but even then I was basically Krusty betting on the Harlem Globetrotters
"He's spinning the ball on his finger! Just take it! Take it! The game was rigged, they used a freakin' ladder for god's sake!"
>tfw The Abyss was too deep for western fans
>at least one of the characters can fly, but don't grab the fruit
>don't just push the kid out of the fucking way
>don't just beat up the stupid fish
>apparently none of the characters can fucking swim
Fuck Ymir Forest.
>You will never watch Elize accidently get drunk and watch her and Teepo struggle to walk and talk
>You will never cuddle her a she falls asleep.
I want these costumes, but I know we aint getting them. We didn't in Graces.
Still, surprised we got the [email protected] costumes in Xillia 1.
>no women in top 10
>no Sheena at all
Nippon confirmed shit
I got about 3/4 of the way through Abyss before I got distracted and dropped it. I think it was mostly because FONONS FONONS FONONS FONONS but I want to pick it back up again because of Jade and Guy who I believe are not only the only two sane characters but are also some of my favorites from the series as a whole.
i had an entire fucking playtrough with her in this suit
luke gets smacked for talking about someone elses tits.....
>mfw that scene
>mfw it was glorious in japanese undub version
Playing Tales of Symphonia for the first time on chronicles. When and where is the last sword dancer fight?
Also I've heard Dawn of the New World is dogshit. Do I even attempt?
>both voiced by Yukana
>both have a similar personality to each other
>same hair length
>similar body structure aside from Tear lacking the pizza butt
Why isn't there more art of them together?
Last fight is outside of Dirk's house
And yeah at guess. At least once, to see what it's like.
>When and where is the last sword dancer fight?
It's somewhere near of the game but I can't remember what's exactly the trigger I can tell you where the last fight is and it's in Iselia Forest.
>posting Nip-Nap Jippo-Jap shit.
Weebs are the cancer killing gaming, and Japan is even worse.
Can it be done? Are their different species even capable of interbreeding?
Never noticed this, thanks.
Something that people bitch about endlessly because we're not getting it outside of Japan
I would imagine most didn't.
It's my favorite game in the series, but I can se why people wouldn't like it much even if they had played it. It's a love story, the plot is actually built around that. The ending still gives me bitch tears
Yeah I know the ending is a total copout, and that it kinda negates the impact of what happened before, but it's hard to explain. It's like an old classic Disney movie ending. It's not what logically or even writing-wise should happen, but it's what you emotionally WANT to happen.
Personally, I don't see why people are so obsessed with muhdrama that they would be more satisfied the character stayed dead in situations like this. It's like why bother with entertainment, just go read some fucking history, real life is full of shit like that and it's not very entertaining at all
Someday. Last progress bump was in March. 4% of menu verifications + patch implementation left.
Get your CFW ready. In the meantime play Xillia and Xillia 2 with all those 'JP only' DLCs.
It's especially infuriating because in one of the Human Ranch bases, Colette uses her wings to fly up and grab one of the key items needed to advance.
Screw Colette and that damn forest.
Get CFW on your console and wait until a converted JP DLC pack is out.
Xillia 1 had this shortly after release, and it even had all the item names and descriptions translated to the 5EUR languages.
Don't get me wrong, I understand completely why some people hate the ending. It's contrived as hell, it's emotional manipulation of a high level. and it flies in the face of the message of the story, that you have to face harsh reality when it stares you in the face.
But at the same time, I don't care. You spend the entire game watching two characters fall in love when you know plot-wise it isn't meant to be. You want the happy ending, even when it makes more sense to not have one. ToD2 is the only Tales game that just went "you know what? we're doing it anyway".
It cleaned up all of the models and has more content
What's there to hate?
I seriously doubt you've either played it or would have even noticed its 30fps. I played the gamecube one 9 fucking times and the PS3 version is easily superior in every way. You sound desperate in every way and seriously I get you're mad it's not on the Wii U, hell, I would have liked it if it was on the Wii U too for that comfy gamepad intergration but stop fucking shitposting misinfo agenda. It's sickening and we don't need this console war garbage
>That Tales of Abyss guy
This is me. I cannot wrap my head around the fact that people can say Symphonia was better. I clocked over 400 hours on GC Symphonia, Abyss was better.
I was actually watching my little brother play the HD remake over the weekend and was wondering how I managed to play it so much, shit is whack.
>my fucking face when Lloyd opens his mouth in Tales of Symphonia
>IT'S FUCKING ROBIN FROM TEEN MOTHER FUCKING TITANS
I think Abyss did this too, really.
But, just because Kyle was lucky things went well at the end didn't mean he didn't actually make those hard decisions he had to make. And this is a personal opinion, but really, the main point of a story is to be entertaining.
There's little point in something having all the story depth and poignancy of say, a show like Breaking Bad when you stop watching halfway through season 4 because you no longer care for the characters, their situation, or the outcome of the story.
If anything, as this is a series which has such a well established pattern, it would have been a bigger betrayal if it ended the way those people seem to think it should have.
Actually the ending works because it's a contrast with the post-Final Boss scene. If it was just a 'yeah this is kinda sad' scene, the ending would be a cop-out. But it's not, it's a max-level despair, ripping your heart out of your chest and dropkicking it into the garbage moment. We like to make the "why even live?" joke about never being with waifus and shit like that, but that is the actual emotional state Kyle is in during that scene. He isn't just so conflicted that
he genuinely considers damning the world if it means keeping Reala alive, but the whole reason Fortuna tries to tempt him with bringing her back in exchange for Reala coming back is because she knows Kyle might actually do it.It nearly broke him as a person. Even if history is rewritten and he (initially) doesn't remember her, is that a life situation you'd want yourself or anyone else to go through?
No it isn't, and that's why the ending works. Because it's giving you happiness after bringing you to your lowest emotional point. It's wish fulfillment, but it's also the literary definition of the sublime.
>The Teen Titans opening is now playing in my head
>The tentacle rape scene is now playing in my head
