Nah, that doesn't fit either. Yayaka and Papika were clearly rivals for Cocona in the show. I think Yayaka is probably my gave character in the cast, but I like PapiCoco, YayaCoco and all three of them together too.

I think Shirley/Trude is a closer fit. The show just portrays them as rivals (with Shirley and Lucchini being close), but the tsundere rivalry is what made it so popular among fanartists.

So, we're at the half-way point of the season. There's not much chance of anything new being announced or confirmed for Spring, is there? Because unless I'm missing something significant, other than a smattering of OVA episodes it's going to be a pretty barren wasteland for /u/ possibilities. There's a standard-issue CGDGT that's probably the best bet, a panchinko tie-in magical girl show that is either the cross product of Yuyuyu and Madoka in terms of bullshit trailers or will be the most generic thing ever, and a 3DPG puramo show that I'm physically incapable of imagining being longer than three minutes an episode. Oh, and I guess Sakura Quest, but >PA Works.

I really liked that show, and am suprised it hasn't got more credit and fan support on /u/. I'm guessing that may be because the story was pretty well wrapped up at the end, and so there hasn't been as much fan fic-ing/dreaming of what could happen next. I find it kind of weird how much activity Kani Collection gets around here when this water show was much more yuri than that is... I'd also like to see a season 2 of this, but with how season 1 ended I don't know where they'd go from there.

Aikatsu is a great show with great characters, so that's why some of the popular yuri artists love to draw yuri-related stuff. There's yuri in Aikatsu, but most of them aren't in-your-face kind of deals. There are exceptions though like pic related.

Sorry, but I wholly agree with the japanese fanbase. They don't want to see more moe everyday series ala Kirara in YuriHime. They want it to be more like in the past. Gachirezu with story. I also agree with them about incompetence of the editors. They ruined so many series. Just look at Shoujo Shikkaku or Last Waltz or recently finished Choco Mate or Momoiro Trance (what the fuck was that?). This magazine survived so long because of Yuru Yuri mega popularity in non yuri fanbase.

Secret Crush on My Sister has been the most serious of the new YH series in its treatment of the protagonist's homosexual feelings. I think for Yuri to be sucessful with the mainstream there has to be some threat of het, or established het status quo that is to be overcome, especially at the beginning of the story. What, like Yuru Yuri?
Nah, I would rather say that pure yuri is never going to be mainstream: it's romance, and a niche one at that, so most people don't care about romance mango/animu, and even less about some specific part.
YY success was rooted in it's comedic aspects, the yuri was a great bonus.
Yuri stories can be successful if the yuri is not THE plot, but a part of it (and the plot is compelling enough to many).
People want to have fun, and romance isn't fun to them, they won't enjoy a good deal of yuri stories.
