So I only just found out season 2's already started, because I live on the underbelly of a rock in the desert, and I'm rewatching season 1. But I notice that Wikipedia says there's apparently a feature film?

Not really a positive episode for yuri, at least in the main pairing. All of the Reina date scenes were cute, especially the way she just assumed they were going around together without asking the instant they met, and there was no wingman Reina for Shuuichi, but they still ended up getting the standard girl-scared-in-the-haunted-house scene, and her denial that they deliberately went together to Reina wasn't on the same level as her previous indifference at all. More importantly, the big focus on the flowers means that the hairpin almost has to show in some form.

Not unrecoverable, since episode 10 was far worse and 11 turned it right back round again, but I dunno if they seem to care as much this season to put a big dramatic original segment like that in. There's still the shot of them holding hands on Daikichi from the OP left to see what (if anything) is going to happen there, though, and if anything could do it's a reprise of 8, this time entirely anime-original.

First 5 minutes of the episode reminded me of the Coffee shop AU on ff.net
That's how I noticed the Shuichi scene was completely harmless since the start, I just keep remembering how much Kumiko hates him on fanfics, Reina interrupting it was a nice touch too.
I'm glad Taki loves his wife so much, it just guarantees Reina's getting rejected. It seems Kumiko is glad too.

I've come to the conclusion that even if KumikoxShuuichi happens, that won't stop me from imagining KumiRei. Sure, they maybe together at the end of high school and even university or in their 30s but they will probably not show what will happen in their 40s or their 50s or even 60s.

By that point who knows? Kumiko may realise she prefers Reina after all and go back together. Later-In-Life Lesbians are being heard and we know they exist. So there's definitely some ample material there for fanfiction and fanartists...if they can be bothered. Most tween writers focus on the good old days of high school.

I've arrived at that stage in which I can't feel anything anymore when there is a Kumiko-Reina moment. I still ship them, they are otp and the first episode of the seson was great, but from that peak of joy I felt like a decrease in emotions.
