Aqua, Crimson, etc. aren't even really names in the first place, just foreign-sounding words that are exotic to Japanese. The team tries to put in names that are at least possible in real life. The same thing happened in FE13. It's hit-and-miss, but then again so is everything when it comes to localizing.

I suggest you promote both parents to classes that can get Lethality/Astra/Gale Force and combo it with Hoshidan Unity/Nohrian Trust from Kamui/Corrin. You'll thank me later.

I recommend you have a SD card of at least 16GB so you can install everything you want without problem. If you have a SD of 2GB this won't work because to create an emulated NAND it creates a partition the size of your system NAND and that's almost 1GB of space.

The only risky thing is the firmware downgrade, but even then if you're cautious enough everything will go smooth.

You need to have in mind that you need to download the 9.2 firmware of your console region (US/EU/JP), then just do a MD5 checksum to be sure that the contents are not changed or corrupt. That's really all you can do for the firmware downgrade to be safe, the rest is leaving the software downgrade your shit and be patient. The o3DS has less risks of something going wrong, by the way.

Depends. Homebrew applications run on userland, so they are not dangerous unless they are for formatting/injecting/installing system stuff. With only Homebrew you can only install custom themes and run Homebrew third party programs like emulators; note that GBA emulation without kernel access sucks balls because the 3DS is very low on resources for that sort of emulation, it can't even emulate SNES at all unless it's a N3DS.

The best you can do once you have access to Homebrew is to downgrade your firmware so you can set a CFW, really. Once you have a CFW you have a clone of your SysNAND called EmuNAND where you can install all the stuff you want without risking a brick because it's not your real system, so if you fuck up really badly in EmuNAND you just need to set it up again.

I don't know about 'based on the original script', but the English version of both Advance Wars: Dark Conflict and Story of Seasons were different between the US and PAL versions of the game.
