They cant have a graduation for Yuno and Miyako without Yoshi present and I don't think recasting Yoshi would be accepted any better than recasting Hiro would have been.

Look at the situation with the VA for King Kaio, who was working in Super and was fucking sick and wasn't replaced until they guy couldn't do it anymore.

The anime industry really hates change, and changing VAs seems to be really high on the hate list. I don't know if there will ever be a new season for Hidamari, but her death does put another reason to not green-lit it.

That seems to be more of a case of the guy wanting to keep doing it as long as possible, illness be damned. I'd hardly say there's as much industry hatred towards recasting as you think there is (at least from the business end). At the least, they'll certainly recast her recurring role for the next Prisma Illya season. In the end, the decision to make more anime series of stuff lies with the usual crew (author, editor, committee, etc) and while the loss of a seiyuu is sad, it's not an end-all to a franchise. Certainly didn't do Strike Witches much harm when Mio's VA got replaced in its second season.

That's more of an American thing (more prominently Simpsons when the VAs behind characters like Troy Mclure and Mrs Kroboppel pass away). It's unlikely in the event of Illya and Hidamari since their source comes from the manga, meaning they wouldn't axe a character from the storyline because their usual VA can't do it anymore (and again, nurse from Hidamari has had like four of them). Living or dead, actors, just like directors and studios, get replaced all the time.

Just 2 pages of Hidamari was enough to make me smile after reading Homura's Revenge. This is why I love this series (both anime and manga).

It's the only series I can remember that made me truly sad it came to an end, at least for the anime.

I really need to buy up the manga. I swore off trying to collect any sort of manga years ago due to space but Hidamari may just be the exception. I'll definitely get the anime one day though.
