BOB seems to feed on garmonbozia harvested from pure evil, while MIKE only fed on garmonbozia claimed from Laura, who I guess is some kind of holy vessel of goodness.

BOB escaped the Lodge via Bad Coop and managed to stay past his 25 year limit. That's why they want him back. he's not playing by the rules or something.

If you listen to how he says the thing about removing the arm, he says: "I took off the arm, but remained close to this vessel for ONE PURPOSE: to find BOB, and stop him." So the clause can be read to mean that he took off the arm for the same reason that he remains inhabiting Gerard's body. Both are done to further the end of finding and stopping BOB.

This doesn't mean that the Arm is evil in itself. Rather, it suggests that he now has a new familiar (BOB was the evil old familiar) in the form of The Arm while he continues on in Gerard's body, able to pull off moves in the real world.

At times, The Arm can give him extra power through the phone pole and stuff. Woowoowooowooowoowowooowoo we hear from the speeding truck as he pulls up on Leland with the ring. Then later they form Voltron in the lodge to confront BOB—by their powers combined, they force him to give up the stolen corn.
