I'm listening to the first episode of Classic Doctors New Monsters vol 2, and it's just a retread of Silence in the library but on a carnival planet and with 4, instead of a library planet with 10. The thing that ruined them for me is when you see them moving, which completely ruins the implication that in Blink they don't move because the viewer can see them (see: the last 30 seconds), which (along with the sending back in time) gave them a very original and distinguishing concept, both of which Moffat ruined.
The other things that ruin them is how in TATM the implication goes from "any statue could be an Angel" to "EVERY statue is an Angel" with the statue of liberty and their bullshit, poorly-explained new powers which seemed to work inconsistently, just doing whatever Moffat wanted them to, both of which are nonsensical and raise a lot of questions.

I am the eternal optimist. I believe we'll eventually get another such era of dark (but not gory or gratuitous) family-friendly sci-fi horror adventures. It's certainly a hard wait though; I thought that's what we'd get with Moffat, then I thought the same with Capaldi and I expect the Chibnall/Whittaker era to be ultra-kiddy.
