Three things wrong with the trailer, in my opinion.

1) Gatiss (why the fuck did Moffat cast his best mate in 12's final story. Detracts from it I think.)
2) Bill
3 [and the biggest sin of all]) why the FUCK are they reimagining 1's regeneration with the glowly light effects associated with Nu-Who regens. It is a sacred thing that should not be touched, but oh no, Moffat just HAS to go near it doesn't he.

What if show under Chibnall will become real show? Like, with drama, good comedy, a plot, a consequences, intrigue, etc. How would you react?
>>
My idea for the regeneration:

Throughout the episode Capaldi is occasionally holding onto his stomach in pain and he also gets noticeably fatter as the episode goes on.

By the end of the episode when he's back in his TARDIS he heads straight for the loo and wastes no time dropping his pants and sitting on the john.

He's groaning and straining on the toilet and as he does so he starts to get skinnier & skinnier and then malnutrition like skinny and then it's like he has nothing inside him whatsoever and a pile of Peter Capaldi looking boneless skin falls onto the floor in front of the TARDIS toilet

A feminine hand sticks out of the toilet like something from a zombie film and out climbs Jodie Whittaker who brushes herself off. "Well then, looks like there's a lot of work to be done."

I don't give a fuck, I'm sick of Moffat raping the Classic series to suit his huge ego. Changing 1's regeneration is just another aspect of his masterplan. If the BBC hadn't fired him after the steaming pile of shit that was Series 9 he probably would've changed the show's name to Moffat Who. I can't wait for him to go.

>/who/ presents:
DOCTOR WHO: SHIT TRIPS Vol. 2
- The Anthology -

>Are you a true fan of Doctor Who?
>Have you ever written down a sequence of words?

If the answer is yes or no, then you are ready to contribute a literary masterpiece to the second /who/ collection of original Doctor Who-based short fiction.

/who/ did it once. Now, we're gonna do it again! Yet another entry in an age-old tradition of p̶a̶c̶k̶a̶g̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶f̶a̶n̶f̶i̶c̶s̶ ̶t̶o̶g̶e̶t̶h̶e̶r̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶g̶i̶v̶e̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶m̶ ̶a̶n̶ ̶a̶i̶r̶ ̶o̶f̶ ̶l̶e̶g̶i̶t̶i̶m̶a̶c̶y̶ / celebrating the magic of Who and the talent of a community.

There are no limits (except the story must be at least 1 word long, and preferably not in excess of 10,000, it's short fiction you fuck).

>- Can involve any Doctor(s), companion(s), side characters, spinoff characters and beyond, as your heart desires
>- Can be in any style, whether it's "legitimate writing", "pisstake", or "shitpost".
>- Can be about absolutely anything
>- The main focus is on good fun in the vein of the wiki, although serious entries are allowed. (If you're going to write smut, maybe approach it with a degree of levity)

Stuck for ideas? Try starting with your favourite TARDIS team (or for timeliness, Whittaker 13th Doctor) and one of these authentic titles:
http://www.saberpunk.net/DoctorWho/DoctorWhoSerialGenerator.php
https://glyphobet.net/drwho

We are going to be starting an index on the wiki for the collection. Anyone can contribute, no signups/pitches required. If you have ideas, feel free to broadcast them.
The rest is self-explanatory. Format for uploading your work is up to you, as long as it can be conveniently copied across (and ideally don't spam long texts in /who/ directly). (Pastebin works well.)

BONUS: Anyone who wants to do cover art or "illustrations" is encouraged.

WE need more entries for classic as well as NuWho Doctors. Entries for Thirteen are accepted as well. Aug 3rd is deadline.

Anybody else think this would have been vastly improved as a normal 6-parter instead of the "epic 10 episode swan song"?

It's a great story when it's great, but the padding really makes it suffer for me. I prefer The Invasion and even that could benefit from being a little trimmed.

Also can someone remind me if this really was the first story where time lords were mentioned and established as his people? In imagine back in the 60's they got constant questioning and speculation about what his deal is.
>>
>>85374789
I'm doing another one I'll get finished probably tomorrow, with 8 and War. But it's not coming out as funny as I wanted it, reeeee.
>>
>>85374870
It's such a fantastic episode that I probably subconsciously want to defend it as it is but yeah pretty much every Classic ep could have been cut down and been better for it.

It was indeed the first Time Lord thing, that's why it's so powerful.

>>85374461
But it wasn't. He didn't have them doing any recordings they didn't want to, or take any more time than blocked out, or cost them any money they didn't intend to spend. I refer you to Terrance Dicks' description of the thinking involved in producing Doctor Who in the later, more sophisticated production environment of the Pertwee era - 'When people asked me: "What were your aims and ambitions for the show?" I’d say: "That the BBC did not have to show the test card at 6pm on Saturday night."'

I could maybe stand an episode or two trimming, but to me it felt like it held it's run time pretty well, even compared to most 6 parters.

It's the first story where the Time Lords are mentioned by name. The only inkling we had of the Doctor's origins prior to The War Games was the he'd been "exiled" and that The Monk was one of his people.

>For any drama to work it must move on, develop fresh POVs, communicate with today’s audiences. You can’t always look backwards or dwell in the past. The very best of Doctor Who has always been when the writer and producer went out on a wing and pushed the boundaries even further back. I look forward to seeing Jodie Whittaker do the same.

Anyone else a bit disappointed Bill is in Twice Upon a Time?
I like Bill a lot. I wasn't a huge fan of her ending in The Doctor Falls but liked to headcanon she legit died and the Heather stuff was either a dying dream or an actual spiritual experience, and 12 just uhh magically got back in the TARDIS somehow.
Won't really be able to headcanon that neatly after the special. Of course that's not a valid complaint or anything, Moff clearly didn't intend that interpretation as the dominant reading, but I dislike how superficially close Bill's ending is to Clara's (they are nothing at all alike thematically or even character-wise, but the surface is...really similar).
One thing I get leery of with Moff is how reticent he is to leave characters alone. Maybe Bill's part in the special will be perfect, but I'm a bit sketchy about it at the moment. Here's hoping it all works well.

You know, I would once have agreed, but then, realizing (fave Davison word, that) that I had yet to see all of his episodes, I decided to marathon the ones I hadn't seen. Fuck ME it was a chore. His range in most of them is
- mild concern,
- just been jogging on the spot,
- mild outrage,
- the phrase "I should have realized".

Most episodes involve everyone else being more interesting around him while he presses his hands against control panels and occasionally slaps them and spins around to make his coat-tails fly.

I don't care if you believe me or but according to source at BBC. Jane Seymour was actress originally approached to be Doctor with Jodie Whittaker and Kris Marshall set to be her companions but turned it down to due to her age. That's why last week It was leaked to be press that Kris Marshall was set to be Jodie Whittaker next companion only because according to original plan that what they were both meant to be. At least four other older actresses turn down role before Chibnall decided to go with younger Doctor and give role to Whittaker instead. Personally no, I think he's terrible. Of all the people who started off in fan fiction or fan productions, he's the one where you can most obviously say "yep, I can see that", and yet he's the most high-profile success, and it baffles me. He can't act, he can't write, he's even a pretty half-arsed fanboy. But the crucial issue is, he's graceless. I will never forget his insulting sketches for Doctor Who night, in one of which he described every actor in the role after Tom Baker as "any old fucker with an Equity card".

Well... when he was an anonymous fucker with an Equity card, several of those actors had given his career a leg up by being in shit he wrote for Bill Baggs - productions he does everything he can to prevent people from seeing now, because when you do, you realize that *he hasn't improved*. They thought he was their friend. Then when he gets more prestige from being in a flavour of the month comedy show, he shits on them. He's regretted it since, and they've never repeated the sketches in full, but you find out what a man is like from how he treats people he doesn't need. Gatiss is a cunt.

At least he does understand the book well - http://www.eruditorumpress.com/blog/if-you-were-that-old-and-that-kind-timewyrm-apocalypse-and-timewyrm-revelation/

The sentient text stuff though...ehh........I don't know why he's so fixated on it. He really does like to think he's Alan Moore 2.0

This is the daring kind of storytelling I want from Chibnall.

Also like half my captchas this week have had "avenida" in them, what gives

>>
>>85379293

it's spanish for avenue. captchas often take their images from street signs

Thanks Cats, that makes sense. Any other captcha lore to drop on us?

I get spooked when the captchas are of places I live near
>>
>>85379349
I thought it might be, I get a lot of "avenue" too
>my captcha when I was talking about "avenida avenida" had "avenue"

Am I the only one who has those weird and fucking annoying "click the panels with road signs/cars/apartments", etc CAPTCHAs?
>>
>>85379431
I hate those, I used the extension 4chanx's settings to switch back to the old captchas, cause I can type those quicker and don't need to use the mouse
>>
>>85379412
Coom at mah tardis again and oi'll brek yer fookin face
>>
>>85379383
captchas are now used for google's image recognition, they're getting you to read street signs hence all the "avenida" and "calle" etc

>>85379431
yes, the rest of us are smart enough to use classic captcha

>>85379457
that's in regular 4chan's settings, not 4chanx

Oh my bad. Well the extension is still pretty useful (: Nice you don't need it to do that though
>>
>>85379382
before I switched to legacy captcha I watched a lot of weeb shit and all of the street signs I had to click were Japanese or Korean
>one time it was a street sign from 15 minutes away from my house
pretty spooky stuff
