It's never going to happen, mate. Raimi was done with the movies after 3 and this new one is successful enough to at least warrant another sequel or two. It fits in with the current trend of cinematic universes, and Raimi's did not, they were of a different era. I loved the Raimi movies, but those are over now. Clinging onto the past and wishing for it to come back won't make it come back. There's no reason to be bitter that they have made a new, decent Spiderman. If you love the old ones, you can always watch them, they'll always be there.

Speaking as someone who hasn't seen hoco yet I feel that it probably got Peter Parker right just as much as Raimi's films did.

I think a lot of /tv/ posters don't realize that highschool stereotypes 10-15 years ago and highschool stereotypes today aren't the same.
Holland works well in context of being a "Peter" in 2017 and not 2002.
He still does an excellent job of invoking the Spider-Man persona as well.
There are problems with hoco, but Holland definitely isn't one.
It'll be interesting to see him grow into the role over the next few years, it reminds me of the way the comics portrayed Parker's growth.

Spiderman 2 was not a good movie. Spiderman 2 was a overrated hack job with a shitty story and a pathetic rehash of a villian. Toby maquire sucked as spiderman and was a mopey cartoon with no depth. Kraven being a man who obtained everything one could expect from his life but has a fire to achieve everymore. With Peter Parker a man who has through his battles lost everything a man could lose and as such has lost his fire to ever strive to be the hero he was. His best friend, his wife, his only family all gone at the expense of his super hero life.

The film would focus equally on the two characters and open with Kraven. Switching perspectives throughout the film.


The beginning of the film would establish the current lives of both Kraven and Peter.

Kraven being a restless in retirement his introduction and the start of our film would be on Kravens 60th birthday where he with his old hunting pals reminise past glories around a crackling fire in Kravens Manhattan high rise. Here we establish thst Kraven as a man who never wanted out of the game to begin with. Think the scene from wrath of Kahn with bones talking to Kurt. It is also here Kraven will first hear of Spiderman. One of his hunting pals was tasked as a game expert for NYC zoo was saved from an escaped lion by Spiderman 11 years ago. It is a video recording of the fight between beast and man that impresses Kraven immensly.

The intro ends with Kravens friends departed and Kraven sitting alone by the fire staring at it through the night. On the table next to him lies an open diagnosis for lung cancer.

Enter Peter who for these past 10 years has worked as a professor at his alma mater. We see peter here as a grouchy but fair professor who spends all his free time consumed with lesson plans, student aid and university work. The scene will follow peter through an average day as a proffesor. The only seemingly friendly relation peter has is the schools janitor who stays late with peter till 2am each night to lock peter class. This intro ends with peter at his flat staring at a photograph of mary Jane and him together with only the static noise of his tv and the screen illuminating a sobbing parker. Signs of alcoholism apparent with empty handles scattered around the apartment.

From here we would continue to switch back and forth between the two. Kraven beginning his research via looking into the past of MJ (as she clearly knew spidy) and more peter is suffering scenes. This clulminates at the anniversary of MJs death where both peter and Kraven pay respects at her grave. Kraven asking MJ for insight on how to find his prey being interrupted by Parker who stumbles into Kraven while he is leaving. Kraven being suspicious of peter digs until he discovers he is spiderman.

The middle of the film will be dominated by Kraven hunting parker one night after work as he booby traps peters College while he works late into the night. Kraven utilizes various poisions, mechanized dogs of his own design and the janitor as bait to ruin peters night as he deaperatly tries to survive.

This will mid fight ends with peter getting capped in hiding in the tomb of the colleges founder. Id like it to mimic him falling into a grave like from the last hunt.

Peter on deaths door will have a scene of him talking with the visage of uncle ben. Someone with better dialog writing skills than I convinces peter to save his own life and take down Kraven.

Throw some more filler scenes until we reach a climax of peter hunting Kraven to his high rise which is rigged by Kraven to blow. The only other point I want to stick is after peter finally fights his way to Kraven he finds him already dead in his chair from his cancer which he refused to treat. Along with Kravens last words being directly to spidy on letter next to Kraven addressed to parker. Here I essentially ape the last hunts dialog and have Kraven who addresses peter assuming he lost asking his worthy foe to continue his path as spider man.

I genuinely enjoyed Spider Man 3. Objectively, it's a mediocre movie, but when you compare it to most superhero movies noawadays it's a fucking masterpiece.

My only disappointments with Raimi's Spider-Man trilogy are:

1. We didn't get a more satisfying conclusion
2. We never got to see Spider-Man's Civil War arc, especially JJJ's reaction to Peter revealing his identity
