>/who/ presents:
DOCTOR WHO: SHIT TRIPS Vol. 2
- The Anthology -

>Are you a true fan of Doctor Who?
>Have you ever written down a sequence of words?

If the answer is yes or no, then you are ready to contribute a literary masterpiece to the second /who/ collection of original Doctor Who-based short fiction.

/who/ did it once. Now, we're gonna do it again! Yet another entry in an age-old tradition of p̶a̶c̶k̶a̶g̶i̶n̶g̶ ̶f̶a̶n̶f̶i̶c̶s̶ ̶t̶o̶g̶e̶t̶h̶e̶r̶ ̶t̶o̶ ̶g̶i̶v̶e̶ ̶t̶h̶e̶m̶ ̶a̶n̶ ̶a̶i̶r̶ ̶o̶f̶ ̶l̶e̶g̶i̶t̶i̶m̶a̶c̶y̶ / celebrating the magic of Who and the talent of a community.

There are no limits (except the story must be at least 1 word long, and preferably not in excess of 10,000, it's short fiction you fuck).

>- Can involve any Doctor(s), companion(s), side characters, spinoff characters and beyond, as your heart desires
>- Can be in any style, whether it's "legitimate writing", "pisstake", or "shitpost".
>- Can be about absolutely anything
>- The main focus is on good fun in the vein of the wiki, although serious entries are allowed. (If you're going to write smut, maybe approach it with a degree of levity)

Stuck for ideas? Try starting with your favourite TARDIS team (or for timeliness, Whittaker 13th Doctor) and one of these authentic titles:
http://www.saberpunk.net/DoctorWho/DoctorWhoSerialGenerator.php
https://glyphobet.net/drwho

We are going to be starting an index on the wiki for the collection. Anyone can contribute, no signups/pitches required. If you have ideas, feel free to broadcast them.
The rest is self-explanatory. Format for uploading your work is up to you, as long as it can be conveniently copied across (and ideally don't spam long texts in /who/ directly). (Pastebin works well.)

BONUS: Anyone who wants to do cover art or "illustrations" is encouraged.

WE need more entries for classic as well as NuWho Doctors. Entries for Thirteen are accepted as well.

I'm really excited. Most excited for the new Doctor, Jodie's great in Adult Life Skills and Broadchurch.

There might be a new composer too.
>>
>>85225777
Stop after the first Series.
>>
>>85225758
Most excited:
>new Doctor
>new companion
>new writers

The others I can honestly take or leave.
>>
>>85225748
I doubt Eccleston will ever be back, unless work's dried up for him.
I wonder just how much truth there was in that story about him and Moffat having dinner and discussing Eccleston's possible inclusion in the 50th Special. According to Moffat he politely declined after hearing him out. Do you think Eccleston would have said yes if Moffat had a different idea for him? Do you think Eccleston had any intention of coming back in the first place, whatever Moffat had to say to him?

>>85225863
I'm excited by just about all of those but if I had to pick I'd say
>new showrunner
>new writers
>new titles

Showrunner because it just changes the show entirely. The difference between RTD and Moff is so obvious. It's a massive breath of fresh air.
New writers for the same reason. New people with new ideas. No yearly Gatiss episode. Get more people in, talented people who haven't written for Doctor Who yet.
And new titles because we're in desperate need of those. I love the visuals of 12's intro but that music is screeching and I never got used to it.

Yeah, S2 was a bit weird because it turned into a court drama for half of it. But with the other plot of Tennant's character's earlier unsolved case it all became a decent series in the end, if a bit all over the place.

Like I said though, they're all worth your time.

Don't be. If you're already excited about the new Doctor than you can rest assured that Chibnall won't disappoint. The show will be different, just like when RTD started and when Moffat took over, but I have faith in Chibnall.
He's a talented writer and showrunner who writes interesting, three-dimensional characters. And I doubt he'd have taken the job, or been offered the job, if he felt like he wasn't up for the job of being showrunner.

>>
>>85227859
He said he's excited about the new Doctor. If he can accept Jodie as the Doctor he's probably an adult man capable of rational thought. So if he can get behind the new Doctor, he can get behind the new showrunner. Chibnall's didn't get the job willy-nilly. He got the job because the both the BBC and him saw potential in it. Just like the BBC and Chibnall saw potential in Jodie.

>>85227790
>This. Plus he's a fan but not in the same league as RTD and Moffat
I agree that this is a good thing. He's a fan of the show and its possibilities, but not as much of a die-hard fan as RTD or Moff. I think Moff especially got too smug while holding the reigns, while I think Chibnall will hold them with more respect and grace.

I don't know who this is or why I should trust it but I would be very relieved if the title wasn't "The Doctors", which I think might be the laziest title we've ever had. It had "working title" written all over it, but still it would be nice to get a good title for Capaldi's final outing.

Twelfth Night should've been a Christmas episode title for 12, shame they never went with that. I'm not sure it would work with this Christmas episode though, like the other anon said we don't know just how Christmasy this story is going to be. I think it'll be low on baubles and tinsel, but high on melancholy and deep conversation between 1 and 12 (with some snow in the background because hey it's a Christmas episode). I'm not dismissing it though, it could be great.

I love and hate this one. The Victorian manor design is great but I've always thought the set was just too BIG. It's enormous!
I think they got it right during Capaldi's time. Still looks like a spaceship, but the bookcases full of books, the chalkboard and chalks all added to the atmosphere.

We don't know the nature of 13's character yet, but I hope the Tardis interior reflects it.
>>
why are people mad about an actor they habe seen nothing of yet? at least give her 5 episodes
>>
>>85229242
I think bigger's better personally, it's bigger on the inside and I love when it feels genuinely massive and overwhelming.

>>
>>85229352
this that was the the thing about 9 and 10 that i hated was that it looked like a small dome rather than an infinitely spanning ship
>>
On the subject of episode titles, why do so many people seem to hate on The Name of the Doctor? I thought it was quite good as a title. It states what the episode is about, The Great Intelligence wanting the Doctor to reveal his name. It created hype among viewers by teasing that the Doctor's real name would be revealed (even though we all knew that was never going to happen). And then at the very end of the episode it turned out to have a double meaning, when 11 name-drops the episode title with "But not in the name of the Doctor!" at the John Hurt, just before he turns around and we get introduced to him.

>>85229446
I think the only complaint I've seen about that title is the baity nature of it, it's not a bad title for the episode itself really.
>>
>>85229446
people hate that one? I thought it was good
same for time of the doctor, since it's both inferring that his time is up and at the end of the episode the clocktower literally strikes twelve, which is the time of the next doctor.

I don't want a tiny set either, I just thought 8's was way too big. I like a reasonably-sized Tardis set with the main console in the middle, and enough room for the characters to move around in. Like Smith and Capaldi with the layered Tardis with staircases to upper and lower levels.

On the whole I want to see more of the Tardis obviously. I want to see more rooms and corridors and stuff and I really hope they show us more of what's beyond the main console, but the main set should be about 11/12's set.
>>
>>85229559

>>
>>85229405
>>85229559
>>85229580
I genuinely don't know what you're on about. They introduced a new version of the sting in Deep Breath, but they weren't actually consistent about using it and occasionally edited the RTD-era one over the top of it instead. Sometimes it would be fairly quietly mixed in over the audio from the end of the cold open, so you had to listen a bit closely to hear it. Regardless, it has been present in some form in pretty much every Capaldi episode as far as I'm aware.
>>
>>85229446
>>85229481
I think it would have gotten less hate if the following two episodes weren't also The (thing) of the Doctor. Some people liked the trilogy nature of those episodes, but I thought it was lazy to give three consecutive episodes the same sort of title
>>
>>85229568
i hope they get stuck in the tardis with the 13th doctors run

it would be nice to see more rooms again
>>
Was the sting ever gone? I can't imagine I would not have noticed that. I'm sure Capaldi's episodes still start with a sting before the actual title music.
>>
>>85229568
i would like an episode with the masters tardis instead maybe the doctor gets trapped and discovers that the master has been keeping thousands of prisoners deep in the bowls of his/her tardis

More of the TARDIS is always a good idea. For once, when the Doctor asks his companion to fetch something from some room I'd like us to actually SEE the companion go down the staircase, through the corridor, third on the right etc.
Journey to the Centre of the TARDIS was a great chance but I felt very let down. Two corridors and a badly-CGI's swimming pool. Same with the other one, was it The Doctor's Wife? Amy and Rory get stuck in the TARDIS but it's just two grey corridors repeating forever.

Doctor Who's original cancellation in the 80's wasn't because of falling ratings was it? I thought some dude got a promotion and cancelled the show (which he apparently didn't personally like) in order to use the budget on other things.
