I just watched it for the first time recently. Decided to watch the few Lynch films I hadn't seen. I actually enjoyed it, just seemed like it was an impossible job to adapt the source material. Too much of the story relies on the back story and the lore so you spend too much time on the exposition, sometimes for minutes while literally nothing happens, and the major plot points kind of shoot by.

I have to say though I thought the visuals and the overall production values were great.

I'd say yeah, the series doesn't really go into how fucked up her life was. Not to sound like an edgelord, but normally those movies like Kids and White Girl with the whole "boohoo girl does drugs all the time and fucks around, look how sad it is" make me roll my eyes, but in Laura's case it makes sense due to the fucked things happening to her, and the performance is pretty great. Just a heads-up, I think this show will be normie central within the next few years. I know I will like it based on the little I know and the few images I have seen. I will be recommending it to all my friends and co-workers in doing my part to spread awareness and make sure your average person is talking about Twin Peaks in 2019. Much like Legion people are looking for something out of the ordinary with odd narrative structure.

To ensure things aren't spoiled for me I will not be in this thread after I post this. my only hope is that I get some (You)s regarding normie popularity of this show.

Normies like the show (it's a good show with a lot of different things you can like about it) but the new season isn't pandering to the people who liked the show for those reasons. You can just look at the reactions to the last episode to see that with people saying it isn't Twin Peaks and that Lynch and Frost don't know what they're doing just because it isn't pandering to them.

Funny thing, there was an article someone wrote about how Legion beat Twin Peaks to the punch with being the "weird" show on TV but even with episode 3, and especially with episode 8, that was a pretty premature thing to say.

Yes they are. Though there were plenty that did like it. Look at the IMDB ratings too. Some liked it but some hated it. It's not a case of "all normies liked it" or whatever you're trying to say. Even some normies have more of a tolerance for stranger stuff than others.

For the first two seasons though it was a lot more tolerable with this stuff which is why it got such a large fanbase. But some people are being lynched by the new season if they mostly liked the soap opera aspect.
