Lynch was always like that.

A part of his charm is that he never oversells what he's offering. There's not a single iota of pretense about anything he's doing since he looks sincerely amused and invested in it.

His shots are always overly long and staged, characters linger on and bumble around. He fucks around with making his footage look "glitchy" and so on..

But there's a knowing elegance there that can only come from someone who knows what he's doing.

An amateur would overplay his hand. Lynch never does.
