It's dropped because Lynch shoots a bunch of shit just to fill all the time he needs and forces a bunch of schlubs to throw the whole thing together in editing.

It's a miracle that Mary Sweeney made FWWM into a competent film, but look at all the footage left on the cutting room floor. Now, there's no way to cut the footage because he needed 18 episodes worth and that's basically all he shot.

For everyone who makes fun of the Q2 FWWM edit, season 3 is basically that in series form. 2/3 of a series, 1/3 deleted scenes. It's funny that that edit suffers from all the same pacing and tone problems as season 3, but all the pseuds of /tv/ hate it, while loving the current series.

FWWM theatrical cut suffers in the opposite way pacing wise. Scenes are too short and end before they should, making it kind of hard to follow. I don't think the pacing of season 3 is bad at all, it's just not paced as a TV series which makes it unbearable for some people. Season 3 feels more like Mulholland Drive than FWWM's fan edit. They both cut to scenes to start plot threads similarly but the non-main plot threads in FWWM with the Missing Pieces are too short and don't tie into the main plot threads whereas in season 3, while we don't know how all of them tie in right now, they still pretty obviously do.
