its not that its strange popped have seen it, its that every person asked "should I watch season 2" despite it being the obvious thing to try, especially considering the main mystery isn't close to being resolved by the end of the first. Literally why wouldn't it be your first instinct? It at times feels artificial

Watch season 2. The second half is boring, but the last episode or so is great.

Then watch the (original cut of the) movie but expect to get majorly LYNCHED. Then you can watch Missing Pieces if you want but only a few scenes are interesting.

>>
>>83929676
Ive watched at least half of his filmography at this point, but Ive mostly stayed away from his majorly abstract shit because they spook me too much. Always thought he worked best when the Lynch stuff was built around something coherent, which is what (so far) this show seems to be

>>83929532
They're different races.
>>
>>83929532
This theory's got legs. Doppelgangers everywhere.
>>
>>83929719
Which of his movies do you consider the most abstract? Inland Empire is the only one I'd consider what you're talking about. Season 3 is coherent, albeit with a lot of hanging plot threads, but it is more like his later work than it is seasons 1 and 2 of Twin Peaks.
>>
>>83929573
Season 2 starts out strong, stalls out pretty badly towards the middle, and picks up a little towards the end. The movie is also essential after you've finished season 2.

If it makes it any easier, you can skip practically any scene with James in it past episode 8 of season 2 (I think). Some other subplots are pretty dumb and inconsequential, but they don't take up as much time.

Yeah, Season 3 is quite similar to especially Mulholland Dr. I wouldn't be surprised if Lynch is bringing back some ideas he had for the show before it was turned into a movie. It's even got Naomi Watts, Balthazar Getty, and Laura Dern in what will probably be major roles.

Fedoras may enjoy it by completely missing the point of one of the protagonists(he's nihilistic, but it isn't meant to be a good thing), but it isn't actually a fedora show.

It's just a really cool character-focused crime drama with references to cosmic horror.

Depends on the area, but for a family here of 4 in austin it's literally 900 dollars. Lynch doesn't
make money off of it. He just does it. So it isn't unethical for Lynch to support it, because he makes no money off of it and is easy as fuck to learn by yourself.

But what does it mean?
>>
I appreciate Lynch and like his work of what he's done in the past, but now just based on the 6 episodes, this haven't been promising at all.
I would have never thought that the beloved Twin Peaks turns to show that is embarrassingly slow, the whole Dougie/Coop thing is slow, too slow.
Some of the plots ain't really going and rewarding award but also I have to confess that some Dougie/Coop moments made me laugh a bit.
The indie-artists/bands at the end of the episodes are too known and haven't got any connection and link to the show/episode, so they feel disconnected.
Some people have too thick fan-glasses on that they can't see or accept the negative stuff at all. Im fan of the show, but can surely see through it.
It's very revealing of reading comments here and elsewhere, to see that this didn't eventually turn out to be glorious home run at all (similar case to The X-Files).
This ain't even near the feeling, mood and atmosphere of the original-series, sure even it wasn't perfect at all but that's the Twin Peaks I fell in love.
That's my opinion only, but Im entitled to have one.

We have been watching TP, the real Twin Peaks (original two seasons) from time to time again many times as it's such a great one. That was the real Twin Peaks.
Also, the original-series brings lots of memories of those early 90's times, when it was exciting to follow happening and talk about the episodes with friends.
But for what I feel for the new series, I doubt that I will ever revisit it again and surely I won't be buying this series at all. No need for it really.

I'm going to be so let me blow you the fuck out here.

When you are meditating you are not excluding god, mediation doesn't remove yourself from the experience of God, it's literally a tool to use to become more in tune with your spiritual side. This can easily be used to become closer to god, it actually doesn't make sense that mediation would be relativism because it isn't bound to a religion and doesn't exclude you from your beliefs. Again, you are retarded and it's embarrassing that you even made that argument. It's completely stupid as fuck. Shame on you.

New season isn't meant to be nostalgia bait. It's Lynch continuing the story with the experience he's gained in the 25 years since the show initially aired. Even if he wanted to make it identical to the first two seasons I don't think it would work. You can't just return to that after so much time, both in the story and in real life. It would feel forced and even if you don't like what it is now it would be worse I can guarantee you.

right, which means you thinks its basis is ultimately relativism. I'm not arguing meditation can't perhaps be beneficial, Im arguing that its most beneficial when directed to God, and particularly the Passion, etc. To think that this exercise is essentially as beneficial as any other means of meditation is relativistic, and to me seems rather incompatible with the notion as God as the one, unwavering source of Truth. If you are arguing "do what works best" you are degrading truth from fixed to costume fit. Its gross.
>>
>>83930653

For the final time, I'm arguing that to say" it doesn't matter what you focus on" is relativism. The fact that God as subject can be included doesn't render this subject equally valid as any other. God has primacy, not the method.

Finished seasons 1 and 2 of Twin Peaks, what a hell of a ride that was.

So it's just the movie and missing feces and I'm all set for the series, then!

Overall I enjoyed the series, but it did feel incomplete and imperfect at times, with all the unresolved plot points, tedious secondary plot lines, and wasted characters. What happened to Leo, why did I have to care about Josie/Andrew/Eckhardt? Pete had very little motivation to support Andrew over his own wife, etc, etc...

I don't know. I enjoyed the series but there's a bit of an emptiness/disappointment inside my heart

>But in reality it was never a promise at all, it was a scam. Watching this show with the level of sophistication and interpretation and observation that the show LEADS you to think it deserves is actually detrimental to the appreciation of the program. Thinking is not a survival trait when it comes to watching Twin Peaks. It is just the opposite, it is an anti-survival trait, it leads you to be contemplating the meaning of log when a huge bear or wolf or a tractor trailer comes along and slimes you to pieces, because you should have been using your log-given senses to fend for your survival out in the wild instead of thinking about whether or not there were two Lydeckers or whether or not the stuffed toy duck sitting at the edge of the table in the scene where Maddy doesn't touch her cherry coke at the diner has any significance, or whether the very fact that Maddy doesn't touch her CHERRY C O K E is in and of itself significant. It doesn't matter. Really. Honestly. This show is best appreciated by NOT bothering to think about ANYTHING, by watching it JUST LIKE it was a common garden variety soap opera. For good reason: it *IS* a common garden variety soap opera, albeit a common garden variety soap opera with a log lady, a Zen detective, kinky sex in and out the wazoo hinted at and "brazenly" bared for all to see (at least as much as one can on TV), and a general quirkiness and atmosphere that LEADS us, the people who NEVER watch network TV and especially not those silly soap operas, to think that this is MORE than a common garden variety soap opera.

The newest season (which isn't really a season of Twin Peaks, more of a sequel film being released episodically so if you do watch it don't be disappointed it's not a soap opera) has some answers as to what happens after, but since it's set 25 years after Laura's death it doesn't answer things directly, more implied. Ben Horne isn't a good guy anymore, Shelly and Bobby don't appear to be together anymore, and James lives in Twin Peaks again. Those aren't really spoilers, but it's about the limit to what's revealed about returning characters (apart from Coop, though).

Season 2 got pretty stupid once Lynch left, mainly because of new directors and writers, but I never thought it was too bad. The Packard plot line also got pretty shitty, none of the characters really grow as a result of it and I feel like they made Josie a killer for no real reason other than having to answer the "who shot Cooper?" plotline.

All these unnecessary plotlines, I just wanted to see Norma happy. Plus Packard/Eckhardt were built up to be antagonists which became disappointing.

Plus, Windom Earle's motives became unclear and I preferred him doing the chess game as it gave an element of suspense/time-is-running-out. But when he for some reason wanted to go to the Black Lodge (to do what?), and when Annie was introduced, I figured she'd win and get kidnapped and killed. In the end, no one important died, and the threat that was built up to be Windom Earle/the Black Lodge was disappointing imo.

Nonetheless, I'm excited to see how the characters are all doing after 25 years. After the movie/feces, should I binge the S3 episodes to catch up, or take my time? How often do they come out, anyway?

Cooper, the dauntless and charismatic hero of the story, was defeated utterly and was locked in Hell, with his evil doppleganger stealing his life and assumably going onto to rape and murder far more than Leland ever could.

If the Black Lodge isn't a powerful and oppressive threat, then I don't know what is.
>>
>>83931616
Right, I mean the Black Lodge's presence was in a way a constant one in the series, however, Windom served as a catalyst or a segway for the Black Lodge to be entered and explored further.

As the lodge's relevance was strengthened, Windom's role/strength as an antagonist diminished.

So while we are left with a jarring scene in which BOB/a spirit has replaced him in the world, Windom Earle's role in this result, as well as his role as a villain, was overall lackluster - at the very least, compared to how threatening he initially was.

arm.png
274KB, 817x381px
Pretty sure the Arm in Twin Peaks is "one and the same" with the utility pole in FWWM / Season 3.

Why? In FWWM, the camera pans over the utility pole, and we hear the whooping sound the Arm makes. In Season 3, we see the exact same utility pole at the intersection where the kid gets run over . It even has the exact same serial number. When the kid dies, we hear electric noises, and see his soul / garmonbozia rise up past the power lines.

We see this exact same utility pole again, and hear electric noises, in the reflection of Richard's windscreen, even though he's clearly driving in a wooded area with no power lines in sight. This is the same fucking utility pole in THREE COMPLETELY DIFFERENT PLACES. Either Lynch is fucking us, or there's some deeper meaning to this, and I think I've found it.

The "evolution" of the Arm appears as a literal electrified tree. A utility pole can be thought of as an electric tree. I'm pretty sure that this power pole is the "corporeal" form of either the Arm or his doppelganger, enabling him to watch the real world inconspicuously. We've seen this before - BOB is said to possess owls, as well as Leland. Just like the Arm / MIKE possesses Philip Gerard in the series, he might be using a power pole as an alternative, less conspicuous form.

This explains how we can see the exact same utility pole in 3 places. It's teleporting. Because a utility pole is a piece of background scenery, not too many people would notice if it disappeared or got replaced with a different one - they'd assume the electric company changed it. Also notice how the pole seems to be harvesting the kid / mother's garmonbozia in episode 6 - it's able to position itself for optimum feeding.

Screencap this, boys.

I thought Nadine's plotline was pretty funny, albeit dumb, but I do agree that the Josie and James plotlines weren't necessary.

Cooper makes a point about Josie not being super perfect like the Sheriff thinks she is back in Season 1, but I don't think she was ever intended to be a murderer/prostitute. I've said it countless times before but I'm pretty sure the only reason Joan Chen was even around as much as she was in Season 2 was so they could put in more sex scenes with her. Her character keeps getting shit on after Season 1, but Pete is the only one in that family who isn't a cunt so they did it for no real reason.

Her burning down the mill made sense since Catherine was trying to take it from her, but Josie was still trying to get the money from Catherine's death. It's then revealed that she was forced to do it by her sorta-boss in Hong Kong, but then it's also revealed that she was a killer the whole time. Then she dies 20 minutes later. All in all it's a complete fucking mess that barely affects the overall plot.

None of the characters develop from what happens, the Sheriff is depressed for an episode and then doesn't give a shit for the rest of the series, even though he should be the one most affected by her death and acts. It's not clear if Josie was just using him and didn't really love him or not, she just dies and that's it. The Packard family don't even care, they bring it up once and then Pete and Andrew die in an explosion. What a fucking shitshow.

Like, I told my friend this, that the only reason this show is bearable is because of the likable and unique characters that you start caring about. But mid-season 2, characters either stagnated or did complete reversals. Like Josie as you illustrated, as well as General Robert E. Lee. Not to mention the ditched romance plot thanks to internal politics.

I don't really like FWWM that much. The story is a bit rushed, and I already know about all the things that happen. The shock of certain things happening isn't as effective if you already know them, whereas finding out about them on the show is hits the point of Laura being fucked up much harder.

All the scenes with Leland/BOB are 10/10, though.
