More self-awareness is the last thing horror films need. The amount of "It's a very self aware movie, now let's make jokes about black guys dying first and hehe no sex you guys" is just stalling good horror films.

Instead of getting interesting stuff, we get films that must reference other classic horror "cleverly" or use certain tropes to show they're in the know.

Seriously, Scream was the only film to get it right because it was actually scary and didn't completely sabotage itself with constantly eye-rolling self-awareness. Cabin in the woods is the pinnacle of this, not scary at all but "aware" of it's self so therefore great.

The reason so many horror sequels suck ass is because the killer ends up being the most interesting character in the movie, as opposed to an obstacle the characters can overcome. What's so hard about writing some likable, fleshed out characters so the when they die, we actually feel for them rather than cheer

Most fun I've had with a game in a while, but it's not perfect and won't be on anyone's game of the year list.


It's fun as hell to play with friends, or a group of people, and there was tons of attention to details in the movies. Recognizable Kills, all the detail in each Jason and map, even loading screens just feel like Friday the 13th.

The bugs are being worked out with updates, but it's still far from perfect. There is a learning curve but people are generally willing to help out new friends.

Get it if your a fan of the series, wait for it to go on sale if it just sounds like an interesting game/10

i like some of it, not all of it

the mask blackened by soot or ash is pretty cool, also how it's only half a mask really but the important eyeholes are actually more emphasized by not being the busy redwings yellow/red crap all over it. But jason himself is very human/ordinary: he should be slightly deformed. I like how in two he only has one eyehole in his bag, as if he can't rely on his deformed right eye. His head shouldn't be a potato like 3 but somewhere in between unmasked 2 and 4.

Having him be like a burned corpse that is supernaturally animated by 'helfire' is still a cool concept but the glow should be green/blue and dimmed a little, like you only realize he's not a zombie when you see the slight glow when he moves in the right light or something. Then he'd be a pretty good jason.

Problem is I don't think people want a remake and if they did Jason would be going back to being mostly human and ordinary - no supernatural shit - but if he's an undead revanant that keeps coming at you like the 6 and kane hodder jasons it would be more fun and slasher classic. I know ft13 isn't the originator but no one else does classic slasher - the remake of nightmare on elm street went in the creepy pedo direction with GQ 20 somethings fucking around and discovering a 'mystery' that the audience already knew and didn't help them stop freddy anyways. The remake for ft13 was abysmal from a story standpoint but at least it was trying.

The second movie retconned that. He survived somehow and had been living in the woods ever since. That's why he looks like a relatively normal (but deformed) person that one. Parts 3 and changed his look, but there was still sign, or reason, for him to be seen as any kind of undead creature.

I don't want an unstoppable killing machine that magically teleports. I disliked the 2009 remake, but I liked the idea of the underground tunnels explaining how Jason shows up out of nowhere. He knows those woods like the back of his hand and he's a huntsman. I liked the intro massacre where he set up bear-traps and other stuff to immobilize his victims. This is what Jason should be more like: a hunter that stalks his prey and takes trophies back to his lair/shrine to his dead mom.

Jason doesn't use guns because they require ammo and they make too much noise for his taste. He hurts tent stakes, knives, and hatchets as his throwing weapons. If he wants long-distance kills, have him use a bow and/or crossbow which the 2009 remake did. Let him have axes, machetes, boar spears, and other tools/implements that makes him formidable at close to mid-range.

I also want the cast to be level-headed. After the initial shock of realizing that they're being stalked by a killer, they do all the things audiences members yell at. Problem is, it doesn't matter. The situation they're in makes it so that their options are useless and it's just a matter of time until Jason gets the drop on them.

Also, explore how 2010's teens and 20somethings are different from 80's victims. Today's kids are self-absorbed with social networking and their smartphones. Why not have an old clip of Jason actually killing someone get posted online and it gains popularity as a hoax snuff film or something? Say the clip was from a camcorder from the previous 80's victims and it was recovered by the survivors or authorities. Somebody obtained the tape and uploaded snippets for some reason.

You know who should be brought back in the Friday the 13th reboot/remake? Ted, the lucky sob who didn't killed in Part 2. He was the goofball that decided to stay in town instead of returning to camp with Ginny and Paul. Because of that, he didn't die though I do note that there were several other counselors that went into town, but we don't know of their fate. They could've been killed off-screen by Jason or missed the massacre because they were still partying.

Ted is eaten up by survivor's guilt and when he hears about Jason's return, he decides to avenge his dead friends. He's a reclusive alcoholic that's derided as a coward by everyone for not being at Crystal Lake when the murders happened.

I just finished the whole series including Freddie vs Jason.
The later movies were cool in their own way for the over the top sillyness, but parts 2 through 6 are really the best ones. i seriously wish they would have done more with Tommy Jarvis. he sorta just disappears after part 6.

As far as the game goes, its amazing. If you watch some gameplay of it you'll see right away that the developers are passionate about recreating the movies in video game form. all the kill moves are inspired directly from kills that happened in the movies, and if a counselor player is good enough, watching them getting chased around from cabin to cabin by Jason feels a lot like watching the climax of one of the movies. If you love the Friday movies its a must buy, and even if you haven't seen them its a hilarious game with a lot of depth you might not notice at first glance.

You could skip the first if all you care about is Jason wrecking shit, but I find it an okay revenge flick in its own right.

Parts 2, 3, and 4 all take place over the course of one week and represent all of Jason's pre-death killings. WATCH THEM.

Parts 4, 5, and 6 are the Tommy Jarvis trilogy. 5 is potentially skippable if you know the gist of the plot, but no worse than any other of the movies. Watch 6, because it establishes the new Jason-as-undead paradigm.

Watch part 7. First time Kane Hodder plays Jason.

Part 8 is hit-or-miss. Despite its title, Jason is only in New York for the last 3rd of the film. I'm not particularly fond of the ending, but you may be cool with it. Last Paramount F13 movie.

Jason goes to Hell and Jason X: These two are probably the most skippable. JGTH is a bit of a mess. It ignores pretty much everything that came before it and tries to establish new mythos for Jason, but the results leave a lot to be desired. Jason is only properly in the movie at the beginning and end. Mostly, it existed as a way for New Line to use the rights they'd acquired and to set up Freddy vs Jason later on. Jason X ignores JGTH and goes for sci-fi. It's hokey and cliched, but I actually like it for what it is, cringey moments aside.

Freddy vs Jason: non-canonical monster mash. Monica Keena has a great scream and greater tits, but you sadly don't see 'em. Director Ronnie Yu tries some interesting stuff that doesn't always work. Ken Kirzenger's Jason is a departure from Kane's Jason, but I like it.

Reboot: Essentially parts 1-4 crammed into a single movie. Not a bad slasher flick, but it lacks the charm of the originals. Really different take on Jason this time, one that I actually like.
