Grint might have the talent, he might not, but yeah, nobody's going to expect him to be able to play anything other than Ron, because that's basically all he's ever done. Capaldi had a decades-long career playing a wide variety of roles before Malcolm Tucker, so people could easily see him doing yet another very different role.
