The Revenant was a great movie for it's cinematography and realistic depiction of the frontier, not the performances. Leo was fine in a physically demanding role, but there was not a lot of depth or complexity to the character. Tom Hardy I guess was good, but I have to admit he was pretty difficult to understand. I could tell that that scene where he and the young kid were sitting around the fire talking, and he was telling some ominous story was meant to have some sort of significance, but I couldn't decipher what he was on about.

He's actually both the good guy and bad guy in Legend which came out in 2015. Plays twin gangsters, good performances but movie was only ok.

He is Mad Max though, so that's something. I really liked his portrayal of Max, much more savage, very underrated since people focus on Furiosa. Mel's Max wasn't too much different but is played with more charisma upfront. But I feel like Hardys portrayal is a lot more accurate to the character in-world.

Just hoping he doesn't have any off-screen issues, drug use or something in the future. I think Heath Ledger mighta turned out to be one of the tip-top of the A list after TDK... movie makes me sad just knowing.
