It's a fan edit and calling is despecialized is clever marketing for something he'll never make a dime on. If you want to watch HD versions of the movies without Lucas CGI poetry it's a good source. You aren't watching theatrical cuts though.

I watched it. It's authentic, for sure. But Star Wars, as originally seen, looks pretty fucking dated.

Here are the thoughts of an actual autist. George Lucas edited the original negative when creating the special edition. New footed was spliced in and the leading and trailing frames had to be removed. These are NOT in the despecialized edition. Lucas also edited many matte pairings and matte lines. He also digitally recreated optical wipes and effects. These are not including in the despecialized version.
