>>

Best action movie in the last decade
>>

>was this the movie of the year?

on reddit maybe
>>
>>64709014
the most boring action flick I've ever seen in a while, tom hardy was horrible as mad and the colour grading was beyond bad making all the practical effects look retarded.

also this>>64709268
>>
>>64709014
I thought it was great. I haven't seen a lot of movies this year though.
>>
>>64709014
B-but that's not this...

It's one of the best according to the majority of critics.
>>
>>64709392
I disagree, but not because feminism. In fact my movie of the year was TFA which has an even stronger female lead xD
>>
>>64709387
>>64709014

desu senpai I do try to keep an open mind when I watch pleb movies, but this was just boring. The fact that I watched it at all shows I'm not just a contrarian nigger
>>
>>64709014
i've watched it 5 times. what do you think?
>>
>>64709482
As was Boyhood last year, but you let RLM decide the fate of it instead
>>
>>64709504
I think you like to drink when watching movies.

I'm not sneakdissin btw.
>>
>>64709495
That's on friend, not everybody likes the same movies.
Which one was your favorite then?
>>
>>64709566
Actually, I think Fury Road is much better when you are high
>>
>>64709014

no but it was one of them

Carol and In Jackson Heights were better though
>>
>>64709495
>pleb movies
Oh look, we have a patrician here.

Road Warrior still remains the best Mad Max and you're a pleb if you think Fury Road was better
>>
>>64709447
Tom Hardy's character is called "Max" not "mad" friendo.
>>
>>64709480
Nie yin niang (The Assassin, Hou Hsiao-hsien, 2015)
Rak ti Khon Kaen (Cemetery of Splendour, Apichatpong Weerasethakul, 2015)
Blackhat (Michael Mann, 2015)
As Mil e Uma Noites (Arabian Nights, Miguel Gomes, 2015)
In Jackson Heights (Frederick Wiseman, 2015)
Hua li shang ban zu (Office, Johnnie To, 2015)
Bella e perduta (Lost and Beautiful, Pietro Marcello, 2015)
Bridge of Spies (Steven Spielberg, 2015)
No Home Movie (Chantal Akerman, 2015)
Ji-geum-eun-mat-go-geu-ddae-neun-teul-li-da (Right Now, Wrong Then, Hong Sang-soo, 2015

I see MUBI cucks still love Mann.

It's a cozy movie, but I really hate the second part. It should have gone full test imho and skip the women. Pushing ideology was a big mistake for the movie. It could've been the GOAT action movie.
>>
>>64709948
That's not how you get dubs
>>
>>64709978
I agree, the vuvulini were the worst part of the movie
>>
>>64709014
My favorite? Yeah.
But overral best? Nah, it's prolly Brooklyn

Sicario was MEDIOCRE
>>
>>64709014
No, but Doof is the best character this year
>>
>>64709919

good call on Bridge of Spies. One of Spielberg's best, it seems strangely underrated though. Blackhat would make my list too. I haven't seen most of the others as I live in a tiny city but I'm extremely hyped for that new Wiseman. The others all look pretty great too.

Others on my list that you don't have there would include stuff like Phoenix, Magic Mike XXL, Carol, Clouds of Sils Maria, and Hard to be a God.
>>

>was this the flick of the year?

FTFY

and no it wasn't.
>>
>>64710210
It's not my list. It's the list of Adam Cook. /tv/'s favorite MUBi guy. He wrote this for example.

there was a new weerasethakul last year?
fugg didn't know...
>>
>>64710302

oh

well it is a good list either way

>>64710313

it's mostly just played the festival circuit so far
>>
ex machina
>>
>>64709978
Agreed, the action scenes were so much fun he could of carried it on without a break and kept up the pace all the way through.

I felt like the Green Place was meant to be more but was perhaps cut, it seems a little tagged on.
>>
>>64709014
More like movie of the kekade
>>
>>64710630

it feels a little "tagged on" does it?
>>
>>64710728
>it feels a little "tagged on" does it?

That's what I said tough guy.
>>
>>64709014
TFA obviously
>>
>>64709014
It was okay
I'm not really a huge fan of carsploitation so I really don't see the best action film in a while label people give it
>>
>>64709014
having to balance this and Sicario

This was a 100% pure distilled fun action experience, I can't believe we don't have more movies like that currently. Sicario was more cerebral and all about tension but the second half felt a bit lacking
>>
>>64710915

that isn't a phrase bro

you made yourself sound dumb bro

also because your criticism was dumb bro

I was discounting your argument by highlighting your inability to use the English language bro
>>
>>64711134
tagged on is a real expression faggot

state your opinion
>>
>>64711134
Let me science the shit out of this for you.

Tagged on means something that is literally tagged on. It was added at a last minute without being properly fleshed out or situated.
>>
>>64710630
The Green Place was handled weird in general, like they wanted to develop it more but also didn't want to take too much away from the action so we wound up with shitty scenes that both took away from the action and gave us a vague and underdeveloped idea of how the world works.
>>
i really wish they used the music better since it was good.

and wish the action was more focused on Max and less about cars.

pretty forgettable the way it is
>>
>>64709387
I liked Mad Max. It's probably one of the best Hollywood films in recent times. But I wouldn't consider it one of the best of the year.

I'm blessed to be able to go to one of the major film fests, so personally:

The Assassin (Hou)
Arabian Nights (Gomes)
Cemetery of Splendour (Weerasethakul)
The Forbidden Room (Maddin)
Hard to Be a God (German)
Right Now, Wrong Then (Hong)
L'ombre des femmes (Garrel)
Trois souvenirs de ma jeunesse (Desplechin)
Office (To)
In Jackson Heights (Wiseman)
Lost and Beautiful (Marcello)
The Treasure (Porombiou)
Chevalier (Tsangari)

And that's not to speak of 2014~ films like Horse Money/Jauja/P'tit Quinquin
>>
Ant-Man was better

I don't think anyone disagrees. I'd say it's quite possible that FR could be number two though, depending on whether you prefer the first one or not.
