We always had this thread today. The lotr films aren't perfect and you can say that Jackson changed too much on order to set the tone as big action films, but theyre still very, very well made for a big blockbuster.

You're just mad that the force awakens was a big stinker that felt more like a commercial for the star wars brand than a real film.

Lotr = wonderful characters, we enjoy he good guys and the bad guys and the plot is a big adventure and great music

TFA = bland characters we don't ever care about and a tension-less boring story with forgettable music

For real, I didn't mind to compare LOTR and TFA.
LOTR is pure poetry, while TFA is a good action film which good moments, but a disturbing lack of poetry.

But /tv/ is just contrarian as fuck and can't appreciate a good film for what it is - a good film. Is it full of flaws? Yes, it is. The plot is full of holes. But that doesn't mean the film is garbage. It delivers what it promises.

The point stands, /tv/ just want to be contrarian for fucks sake and giggles and to appear edgy.

If it wasn't star wars it would have gotten middling reviews. It's very ho hum and forgettable. I liked JJs star trek a lot more than this one.
