Can't say I'm surprised, it was already put on ice, Del Toro was just giving his last go at getting it made.
As a kaiju movie fan it's dissapointing but there's a few Godzilla films coming out which is awesome enough for me.
Del Taco just can't catch a break
>At The Mountains Of Madness cancelled
>Justice League Dark cancelled
>Hellboy 3 cancelled
>Halo movie cancelled
>Left The Hobbit
>Silent Hills cancelled
>Pacific Rim 2 cancelled
>instead of making Hellboy 3, go to make movies nobody cares about like Crimson Peak, which was shitty
>Demoted to making music videos
I feel bad for the guy. Hopefully he gets his way back up the ranks.
so they think Pacific Rim wouldn't do well
meanwhile literally who gives a fuck about a Fantastic Voyage remake?
PR2 would be huge, by the time it would've been ready the capeshit bubble would've burst, people will be turning on Star Wars 8, and everyone would be looking for something a bit different
Independence Day looks good and will probably be a bit of a hit, people will be interested in big global scale threat/invasions with the world struggling to come together
PR gained a lot following after its theater run ended and a bigger badder verson without any need for setup would place it in line for a Aliens/T2 type scenario
biggest fucking mistake anyone involved will ever make
First action film I genuinely enjoyed in fucking years and of course the sequels are going to get shelved while TFA, the biggest snorefest cookie cutter sci-fi film of all time is going to keep breaking records all across the board
You do realize Taco has been desperately trying to get funding for HB 3 but all studios refused him, right?
Directors can't just decide what to film, even for absolute top rank directors like Spielberg or Ridley Scott it's a struggle to get to make the movies they want to do...
Studios simply don't give a fuck.
