>"You have failed, your highness. I am a Jedi, like my father before me."
tfw TFA and its sequels will never have a scene as strong as this
>yfw disney rehashes this line in episode 9 when kylo ren finally embraces the light side and kills snoke
>tfw TFA and its sequels will never have a scene as strong as this
yeah, basically nothing does
the whole confrontation and duel sequence is easily the best thing in the entire Star Wars trilogy
almost no films from any genre ever get up to that level
the only comparable sequence from another action/adventure/fantasy film is the lighting of the beacons from Return of the King, but this is still better than that
Well, you don't know what the sequels will have do you, dicknose? What a fucking stupid thread.
>Then I am a Jedi.
>No. Not yet. One thing remains. Vader. You must confront Vader. Then, only then, a Jedi will you be. And confront him you will.
Luke confronts Vader and becomes a Jedi. This is literally what poetry is like.
Luke is so based, fuck all the plebs who write him off as "whiny".
>"Today is the end of the Republic. The end of a regime that acquiesces to disorder. At this very moment in a system far from here, the New Republic lies to the galaxy while secretly supporting the treachery of the loathsome Resistance. This fierce machine which you have built, upon which we stand will bring an end to the Senate, to their cherished fleet. ALL REMAINING SYSTEMS WILL BOW TO THE FIRST ORDER AND WILL REMEMBER THIS AS THE LAST DAY OF THE REPUBLIC!!!"
he's very whiny at the start of ANH, and slowly becomes less and less and whiny as the trilogy goes on. By the time of RotJ, he's fucking awesome
the first order literally did nothing wrong
Point is he has good character development, but everyone seems to forget that and only see him as ANH Luke.
he is a whiny farmboy at the beginning but then he really comes into his own and grows to be the man in the throne at the end
the nice thing is that Luke retains his inherent goodheartedness even as he matures and loses his naivety and innocence. it's this goodness of Luke that allows him to resist the dark side and save his father's soul
after all, that's always his goal, once he finds out who Vader is. Luke doesn't want to kill Vader, he wants to help him. the fact that he starts as whiny Luke "Power converters" Skywalker makes the end all the more powerful
Scene was pretty good. Thing that gets me mad is the bullshit nazi imagery.
Nazi imagery in films is just writers being to lazy to make us actually think the first order is evil and instead tap into feelings people already had
It wasn't a part of the Republic in the prequels and Empire is just a reformed Republic. It was controlled by the Hutts and the Hutts are still doing well in the OT, so it's probably not a part of the Empire
it was all part of his arc man. Luke didn't invent it but by and large a metric fuckton of post-Star Wars fiction has taken the hero's journey straight from how Star Wars did it: whiny nobody with potential who rises to the task, gets fucked up and has to learn from his mistakes, returns selfless hero.
The sequels have already fucked themselves by making Rey perfect from the first movie to please feminists
Luke's got another daughter:
So who in the hell is his son?
>implying that the New Republic compared in any respect to the old one...
Nobody styles a King or Emperor "your Highness." Anywhere. Neither in the British Commonwealth, nor in any European or African state. If you're a Britbong, you must be public-schooled.
>I foolishly, and somewhat sexistly, thought that meant curtains for Rey in VII
kill yourself and whoever wrote this
>prime carrie will never hand you a tall boy after you blow up the death star
Do you think they named her Rey because she is a ray of light? :3
>hux' speech was actually the best scene of the movie
Fuck no i was laughing at him for the whole speech, he was like a puppy trying to shout like a lion. Fucking embarrassing 2bh lads.
He just mildly implied wrongs of the republic, a true speech would have told it like it is. He should have talked directly about the Republic being a bunch of cluckolds with no army and that they ignore the First Order completely, only spouting mean words towards their direction. That Leias Resistance is basically a private terrorist army and that the New Republic cares just as little about peoples well being as the old one.
But no, here have the death laser, it´s a cool thing and we kill like a trillion dudes now with one sick shot.
Because they are his soldiers trained all their life for war, they built the thing, they see it in action, it´s basically like an independence day for them.
Btw. what does Finn mean by "I have no name, I was trained all my life for war"? Did the First Order steal random children like the Jedi? Are there First Order planets that see them as the legitimate government?
>yfw Kylo will be good guy
>yfw he will say exact same line in Episode 9 when fighting Snoke
>yfw the big twist is going to be that Kylo is actually the son of Luke and Leia
>Han just got cucked, and Luke is into incest
>this explains Kylo's autistic tendecies
The moment before this is even better.
That look in his eyes... you just KNOW he almost went to the dark side.
>faggots/tumblr reduce him to "lmao whiny pissbabby XD"
That's what I'm talking about m8, I know he starts off whiny but no one ever gives him credit for actually developing. The fanbase seems content to pigeonhole him as farmboy Luke.
This could actually be a legitimate theory
Anyone found the death of Sheev alittle anticlimactic?
Like Vader just simply lifted him and tossed him off into the reactor
Didn't seem like such electic charge like that would kill off Vader after that
ROTJ should have cut out the ewoks and gave us more of Luke flirting with the dark side
beacons are cool, but I fucking miss thereveal of the arwens standard on the first ship and eomers death poem just before that.
It is actually the only moment where I get tears in my eyes from reading a book, because of the power of the situation
We hate it for quite a few reasons. The fact that people don't want to listen to those reasons isn't really a thing that can be resolved. Its generic pandering nonsense. As its been mentioned TFA follows the same formula of most recent high budget family films.
But the winky face, anon. I feel like you were trying to imply something.
why is he so perfect
Watch this and cry
but we don't see any pre existing imperial presence on Tatooine. Just the stormtroopers who came looking for the droids.
We do see Hutts still doing well. It's much more probable that Tatooine is still a shithole run by gangs
is it true that during ANH they hadn't planned for Vader to be Luke's father?
is the retcon that Obi Wan was trying to spare Luke's feelings or did he really split Vader and Anakin in his mind?
Lucas originally intended light sabers to be heavy. So heavy two hands were required.
Based on how Luke effortlessly manipulates anakins lightsaber in ANH, I'd say they are either massless or weigh very little.
>tfw the prequels took all the weight out of these words
>Anakin was a child murdering maniac who fell for Sheev's lie about immortality
>Even when he was a Jedi, he was shitty
Why did we have to have more Star Wars movies? We were okay with the three. Return of the Jedi was shaky but a fine enough end to the Star Wars Saga.
I'm pretty sure they didn't have it planned back then. I remember seeing an early version of ESB script somewhere on the internet with Lucas' handwritten notes and Vader wasn't Luke's father in it
Just further on that point you can imagine the Sith having heavy weighted ones, while some of the female alien races make theirs lighter for maybe dual wielding?
Like Ventress' seemed pretty light (the curved ones)
>darth vader in the OT was a good guy actually
don't forget he blasted a planet to just for show
he only stopped because of selfish reasons (family), he didn't care about humanity. Which is also why he went dark initially (family)
That's it, time for some cute Luke.
I had always assumed that Light sabers were like gyroscopes. Not heavy at all when turned off, but when turned on you need strength to keep it steady and not jerk out of your hand. It would also explain all the spinning, lightsabers would literally help you spin.
fuck off fag. such a typical whiny fag. someone makes a good joke and you gotta label it "reddit" because you need to somehow insert yourself and convince yourself that you are the high ground in a situation you don't even belong in. Reddit doesn't even like homo jokes faggot. Can I say faggot one more time?
First off, fag, I wanna start this off by clarifying am not "REdddit", and I didn't even post that comment. I just decided to post this comment because your gay derivative stupid divisive go-to insult is soo gay because both sites are fucking full of fags, except at reddit you're lucky enough to not find faggots like you complaining how everyone is acting "4chan" because you are a giant pussy ass bitch.
Last off, you are an unoriginal. not funny, pussy ass 12 year old I hope because that would give you an excuse to sound like a dumb fuck behind an anonymous comment.
Oh yeah fagggggggoooot"
Pointless dragged on speech that didn't mean jack crap. I didn't feel anything when they blew up those planets. Then they just got blown up themselves, didn't care about that either.
>still enjoyed it, but there were a lot of missed opportunities
an old sith filled with doubts conflict and a devastated body, far past his prime,
vs a jedi at peak health filled with rage and in his prime
yeah so inexplicable that vader falls...
Fucking kill yourself you retarded contrarian little faggot. I understand Attack of the Clones was your first Star Wars film back when you were a wee lad, but please try to keep your shittiest opinions to yourself.
Damn, that outfit is cool. Too bad they wasted it on the very end of ANH and never showed it again.
I literally pumped my fists and yelled "YES!" to this comment.
Congrats anon, you made my day
The most typical response when someone tells you that what you just said was fucking stupid. I bet you get roasted IRL and just respond with 'y-you mad bro?', then walk home and cry into your pillow until your mum finishes your grilled cheese, THEN you're emotionally stable enough to start shitposting.
>Don't forget the fact that it was half covered up by that hideous jacket
I will never understand what possesed them to do that.
Luke threads usually reach bump limit, though. A-are they not allowed anymore?
I really enjoyed the Hamill threads before the movie opened but now they're all just filled with homo shit.
Do you have anymore images of Luke after or during his fight with Vader? I love the cinematography of that entire scene.
Homo star wars seem to be getting deleted lately
it really is awful
>but now they're all just filled with homo shit.
I'm straight as an arrow m8, but if you wouldn't go gay for qt Hamill you're not a real Star Wars fan.
>mfw Luke's black suit secretly had white on the inside
It's like fucking poetry
It's kind of endearing, if only for how 70's it is.
Because Red Letter Media told them on the Plinkett reviews that it was a great scene.
/tv/, incapable of forming their own opinions, decided to go along with this newly made ''standard'' and now it has become a fact that that scene is some next level stuff, even tho they probably never considered it to be good prior to the Plinkett reviews.
If the subject in the OP is just "husbando/waifu thread" or "why is (actress) so perfect?", they tend to get deleted. This thread is generally about Luke appreciation, so I don't see why posting Luke pictures is worth deleting.
Hamill's faces in the background when Han and Leia flirt are amazing
This nigga knows what's up.
I need a gif of Luke screaming NOOOO in that part.
>You're not allowed to have opinions about the original trilogy anymore.
yes, people only like this scene because of RLM
this scene that's the climax of 3 movies' worth of material
this scene that's the climax of the protagonist's character arc
yes, only because plinkett said so
tell plinkett you were right
He's not the best actor, but Mark was genuinely great in that scene.
Why do you guys think there's more Hamill threads than ford threads? Ford is better looking. Can straight guys only appreciate cue guys?
DUDE HITLER LMAO
DUDE HOLOCAUST LMAO
DUDE AND THEN THEY CAME FOR US LMAO
>around the survivors, a perimeter create
>tfw I ruined other people's TFA experience by laughing my ass off during Hux' speech
Because Hamill has made a huge comeback in both popularity and looks recently, so people are starting to say "hey wait, that mark hamill guy is really great/handsome." whereas ford has been in the public eye and handsome pretty consistently.
80s ford is the most handsome person i've ever seen, but i think hamill is more handsome today than ford is
>Ford is better looking
In a boring, mushy, boulder nosed way, sure.
Also, Mark is just a really nice guy who appreciates where he is and unJUSTed himself. Ford is a perpetual grump.
Do you hate extended lightsaber duels?
I mean a lightsaber fight that lasts longer than 2 minutes.
The confrontation of Luke vs Vader in RotJ is only about 2 minutes long.
How long can a lightsaber duel last before it becomes unwatchable?
I honestly don't understand how Force Users don't have flight as one of their abilities. They have telekinesis and the films demonstrates it could be used to lift aircraft or heavier objects. Force users using telekinesis to lift their own body weight should be a simple task, and if they could do that, that means they could fly for at least a limited amount of time.
>"I'll try spinning," thought Old Ben. "That's a good trick."
In spite of the good moments Return of the Jedi has (best duel, I agree), I think TFA is still the better movie on the whole.
>Hamill is better looking
I appreciate his grumpiness, its fucking hilarious when an actor hates the own movie they acted in
the only way now to make her interesting is to let her fuck up so she will have some sort of an critical moment
No idea, outside of the films most of the fights in the SWOTR cinematics are great, the Anakin v Ventress in the rain is also pretty amazing. I think a lot of them get overblown with spinning and things that just ... feel? unnecessary
How is Luke a jedi? The Jedi organization he claims to now be a part of was destroyed decades ago.
He might be a FORCE user or a LIGHTSABER warrior, but he's not a Jedi.
I knew that's all we would see beforehand, but I still wanted more
hopefully EP8 will give us a lot more of him. Maybe even a duel with Kylo.
>TFA is a better movie than RotJ desu senpai
you're absolutely fucking
Luke Skylwalker? more like Luke Kawaiiwalker
Watched it again for the first time in years today. For the most part its pretty great, but the ewok antics get way too ridiculous and just feels akward when they cut from that crap to luke with vader and the emperor.
Yoda, the best Jedi ever, said he would be a Jedi after he confronted Vader. Then he confronted Vader and won, without turning to the Dark Side. And he proclaimed himself to be a Jedi, and Palpatine acknowledged him. And he created a new Jedi Order, which seemingly worked for a little while. He's the last Jedi, but that doesn't make him not a Jedi.
Why didn't Leia hug him after Han died? Poor guy gets treated like shit.
It's not even that it was too long (which it was) it's that it was so completely outlandish that it just became laughable
>now they're swinging on chains
It's like a 12 year old wrote it
He's a super manlet, but is so qt that his small stature just contributes to his cuteness.
Also helps that Mark has never shown any insecurity over being a manlet. Dude owns it.
He was 5'8" not fucking 5'1"
He is a supreme qt though
>I see gay and trans shit everyday
>I am totally not gay. Not even a little.
>He was 5'8" not fucking 5'1"
He's 5'6 or 5'7, which is tiny, but he carries it well and is a qt so it's a plus rather than a negative.
RotJ begins four times, the stuff on Endor sucks, and that there's 3 different climaxes going on at the same time ruins the emotional tone. Han and Leia's entire purpose in the movie is to stand at a door
there's great stuff in there
he tried to spin against a spinning sith.
It has been well established that sith are the best at spinning, because it's a good trick and sith are the masters of tricks and treachery
Stupid jedi desu
>using reddit an as insult
That shouldn't impede on your desire to marry Mark, anon.
If you wouldn't go gay for young Hamill you're not human imo
This thread has become fairly homosexual, but do you faggots think Punished Luke will fight or at least meet Snoke in the next film
Or is Snoke actually a frail manlet with no power whatsoever and a little man's complex
Seriously, he looks more like a girl here >>64644663 than fucking Rey
How old are all you fags in this thread? I'm sick of this hip to be gay garbage.
Luke will die without doing anything particularly special so that Rey and friends can save the day, you know it to be true.
And yet here you are, in the qt Marky Hamill thread.
Embrace reality, Anon
The only thing I wanted out if these new movies was jedi master luke. I was so happy to see him unjusted. I even said to a guy at work how hansome he looks now. He disagreed but he looks a lot like JUST hamill so is probably;y just jealous.
I like Mark Hamill a lot and wish him the best in life but im not going gay for anyone.
What the fuck do you think? Everyone's been shit posting Hamill for the last hour.
>I like Mark Hamill a lot and wish him the best in life but im not going gay for anyone
Alright, I can respect that.
>Everyone's been shit posting Hamill for the last hour.
>implying it's shit posting
Lukelust threads are not new and I think anon was talking about the fact that you posted a picture for Ants.
Thanks anon. I'm glad someone here has some sense.
I don't even want it for the butthurt, but it would make sense why Rey is so awesome in TFA, 'cause they would be setting her up for a fall.
Then all the Mary Sue nonsense would be null and void.
Also I already called Ren turning. That regret on his face when he watches Han fall.
Well, Vader was under greater emotional conflict in ROTJ compared to ESB.
Okay you've made up for it
These threads are turning into some kind of homosexual hivemind
>Anakin and Luke were both at their strongest when they were basically standing on the line between good and evil
>Only Luke was able to tap into that power and then recover from it almost immediately
