Lynch has a really strong movie lineup, half of those are masterpieces.

Get a big cushion, sit on it doing the Lotus or half Lotus position with your back straight as a log and start breathing slowly and deeply (inhaling with your nose and exhaling from your mouth) while letting all your muscles relax. Once you feel that your whole body is relaxed, start counting your exhalations in a summative manner (1; 1,2; 1,2,3; 1,2,3,4; etc.) and concentrate only on that action. Don't worry if your mind is swarmed by intrusive thoughts at the beginning, it's normal. Once you achieve a trance-like state you can let your mind wander and have profound thoughts, but always focusing on your breathing.
Start meditating during 15 to 20 minutes, and once you get the hang of it go up to 35 to 45 minutes, if you feel like it. Use a timer to snap you out of your trance.
