Probably not. The author didn't want it so it'd receive huge backlash from the fans.
Very misunderstood work too. It's less about a whiny teenager's mini existential crisis and more about the aftermath of sexual abuse and the fear of adulthood that stems from that. It's a shame that subtext is so often overlooked (especially by the teenagers who are forced to read it) because it really does change the book.
>mfw my friend in highschool said he identified with holden and thought he was a troubled genius
Fuck this lame ass trend of disliking books/whatever on account of the fan base, or the attitudes of some fans. It's a good book, and saying "meme x" is just an acceptable way of saying "it's popular so I dislike it".
Catcher is a pretty good book, even being a bit overrated because it's entry level and the fact that Holden is kind of a bitch. I can enjoy a character without connecting with them, but I feel like we were all that immature at one point.
It already has. An underrated gem.
Better question: Who could play Holden Caulfield if this film came out in 2016?
Pretentious garbage and anyone that identifies with Holden should be publicly crucified. I hope it gets made into a movie so there's a high possibility of a mass killing targeting Catcher fans.
>modern day Catcher would feature Holden as a NEET complaining online about normies instead of phonies
Enough. If you disagree with this list, you're reddit, so fuck off there.
>Have you ever been to redd-
No, just leave.
the music section was the only relevant discussion though
It may have been tolerable in 2011 but that bald fucking idiot fantano made Reddit memers drone into the place
Now it's almost as bad as TV if not worse neo mu are complete spineless pitchfork / fantano drones
John Green. Perfect since he writes schlock tripe work and characters just like the book
i think if this guy was younger then he would be perfect
