Smoking is the most overhyped "killer" in the history of modern medicine. However, the point is that it's completely preventable.

Smoking deposits carcinogenic byproducts of combustion into your lungs, many of which do your body cannot break down and thus contribute to lung disease and cancer long term.

Then there's the fact that tobacco products contain heavy metals, like cadmium, many of which are radioactive isotopes. These isotopes deposit in the lungs, concentration radiation to the tissue.

Then there's the addictiveness of smoking and nicotine, which leads your brain to associate the smell of smoke with feeling good, making quitting harder than just simple willpower and nicotine supplementation.

Most people who are hospitalized that are smokers have cariopulmonary issues. I'd love some proof they wouldn't have had that happen anyway.
