I'd agree except that the scenes where Luke confronts The Emperor and Vader at the end of Jedi is fucking based as shit.
Yeah, the parts with the Ewoks was just dumb, the rehashing of the Death Star was stupid too, and the escape from Jabba's palace was full of dumb things, but that final scene is crystallized greatness.
Deal with it, nerds
Finding a Redditor is like finding a cuckold. Just call someone Reddit or a cuck, and if they get upset like you are, they've outed themselves as one.
Never fails. Now run along back to Reddit.
>people actually enjoying 3
Come on now.
It was just as shit
The dialogue was absolutely horrendous.
Grievous was a shit villain.
It had two good scenes.
The Darth Plageuis the Wise scene and the Order 66 scene.
The rest of the movie was as bad as the other two.
why are redditors so obsessed with their shitty site that they have to bring it up all the time?
1. Empire Strikes Back
2. A New Hope
3. Return of the Jedi
4. Revenge of the Sith
5. The Force Awakens
6. Attack of the Clones
7. The Phantom Menace
Top 2 are great
Middle 2 are good
Bottom 3 are trash
This is correct. Anyone who says ROTJ is better than TFA needs to watch the movie again. The space battle and Luke vs Vader were great, but the second act was pretty boring and the ewoks deafeting the Empire was the worst part of the OT.
Behold Lucas's genius filmmaking skills.
This is unedited and ripped straight from the movie.
He actually morphs two separate takes of Anakin's face to complete the scene.
Watch his hair.
This is a professional movie and he thinks he can get away with it because we're focusing elsewhere.
5 > 4 > 6 > 7 > 3 > 1 > 2
6 has a lot of fundamental issues, and 7 is more competently assembled I think, but it still has something to say and present thematically. 7 just kind of exists. Everything about it is dull.
i watched the prequel trilogy yesterday with a friend and i would honestly flip ROTS and TPM
sheev is the only entertaining part of that movie and he has 20 minutes of screen time as emps max
Han's (and Leia's) treatment in RotJ is one of those fundamental issues I mentioned. But, again, at least VI creates a thematic capstone that brings the story together to a satisfying (if very uneven) conclusion. What does VII do? It drags out old characters we never needed to see again and pulls them through a series of break-neck action sequences with very little tension fronted by a character that's ten times as much of a "non-character" as Han was in Return of the Jedi.
VII is a fucking mess every step of the way. It has competent production, but that's about it.
>VII is a fucking mess every step of the way.
what's wrong with it?
>implying that isn't a visual representation of Anakin turning to the Darkside
WHAT THE FUCK?
You can't be serious.
OP is correct. People like to shit on TFA because it's popular, but it is definitely on par with the OT.
You are comparing the end of a trilogy with the first movie of another trilogy. Your comparison is completely flawed. The only thing this new movie needed to do was establish new characters that are likeable and it did it. Kylo Ren is the most interesting villain Star Wars has ever had. Poe's and Finn's chemistry was perfect. And even Rey who always gets criticised for being a Mary Sue has a likeable personality.
The movie is unoriginal, but it is entertaining, unlike half of ROTJ.
The sequels suck, HOWEVER, can we put an end to the meme that Revenge of the Sith was the decent one? Only the last lightsaber battle was good, and maybe Windu but that's all it deserves credit for.
>Shit CGI during fucking Dookus battle
>Shit, forced Kasyyyk battle
I prefer Phantom Menace because the lightsaber duel is actually well-correographed, and even tho it sucked it at least gave us memes.
ROTS is shit, but at least there wasn't an annoying child character and an even more annoying comic relief character like in TPM or a horribly written, forced romance like in AOTC in it. It is only regarded as "decent" because the two other prequels are much worse.
Trolling aside, Rey is pretty much textbook Mary Sue.
Her only flaw is the prerequisite "Rejecting the call to adventure" that every Hero requires at least once.
Mary Sue just means that she is written like how a fan fiction writer would write a new story with themselves as an insert. It doesn't mean she literally is JJ/Kasdan's author insert, it just means she is written like one.
>she meets Han, her hero, and he loves her immediately
>she's just smart as he is and she even teaches him something new
>she understands Chewie
>she flies the Falcon perfectly on the first time
>she defeats the evil guy at his own game, multiple times
>she's Luke's Chosen One
It may be due to the extremely high pace of the movie, but she is definitely a poorly developed character and does fit the fan fiction character mold very well.
My order (in terms of which I liked most)
1 > 3 > 5 > 6 > 2 > 4 > 7
is the best film or the series. Likable characters, great music, exciting action sequences and colorful and diverse planets.
Second best in the series. Good starting sequence. Good action sequences. Good music. Exciting light saber fight. Emotional moments of loss and betrayal.
Best of the originals. The hoth battle, learning about the force through yoda, cloud city.
Good start, good end. Boring middle. Good movie overall.
Pretty cool themes. The weird tall species that clones shit. The the bounty hunters. The car chase scene. Overall a cool movie BUT the reason I rank it so low is because it really doesn't stand out in my mind too much.
I also fucking HATE the parts with anakin and padme on naboo with a passion. Just fuck my shit.
The original. Fantastic music and world building. Movie is a bit boring with cheesy dialog though. Would be nothing but a forgotten mess without the sequels. Still, I have a soft spot for it.
Pretty much utter garbage and the WORST movie of the 7.
No epic sound track.
Boring action sequences. Where's the duel of fates moment? Or the binary sunset moment? even the fucking space-bar theme was nothing but fucking noise - not like the jazzy classic.
Hurr durr girl power
female master yoda wasn't even a jedi.
whole movie felt rushed. terrible pacing.
no likeable characters except the droid and maybe han.
The villan isn't evil enough, just some whiny kid with daddy issues and inconsistent powers.
Just. Fucking. Trash.
I'll always love starwars 1-6.
Maybe 7 will grow on me in time but for now it's dog vomit.
>Only the last lightsaber battle was good
maybe if you're a /v/eddit crossposter
>she meets Han, her hero, and he loves her immediately
WHAT THE FUCK .
>It's actually 93/90 now
Funny how opinions spread and are formed independent of the product itself. People loved the film initially, then do nothing but disparage it after reading negative tweets and memes about how similar it is to ANH. The notion that Episode VIII is better is already starting to form, even though it's in pre-production right now. Consensus matters more than quality.
TFA is still considered a good movie by almost everyone. No one thinks it's original or "risky", but it's still very fun and entertaining. ANH's plot wasn't original either and everyone loves it.
im gonna get hate and shit, but i rewatched the unedited vhs of the orgininals, and i think the high highs of ROTJ far outweigh the lowest lows. i like how the first half combined the fun adventure style of the ANH and later had very deep and meaningful scenes and overall it felt the most exciting and engaging.
>The Darth Plageuis the Wise scene
Not necessarily disagreeing with you, but all of Anakin's lines are as bad as they usually are and I seem to remember them being in a gross looking CGI opera house type thing, which was just stupid.
5 > 4 > 6 > 7 > 3 > 2 > 1
Yes, this is the normies opinion but its true. I can accept debate over 6 and 7, I think 7 will gain from having its story conclure in 8 and 9. Everything else is non-negociable.
The people who love TFA are blinded by nostalgia, champ. The references to the original trilogy every five seconds are the biggest reason people like it and overlook all its enormous flaws.
Reddit as fuck, desu
It's fucking jet engines attached to a carriage racing through canyons with Sand People shooting at you. It's a great idea for what it is, and it helps establish Anikan's powers, but it could've been better if they'd started off with Ani as a teenager instead of an 8yo boy. His ridiculously young age was just too much for me to swallow when he's supposed to be the only human in the galaxy that can do it.
Teenage Anikin would have deffo made Ep 1 better.
Could lead to some nice bantz between Obi Wan and Anakin.
Because, you know, they become best buds later.
Seeing them have chemistry would make a lot of sense
It isn't flawed at all. Sequel or not, VI still has something to offer thematically. VII does not. VII is a very dull and empty spectacle. I was bored by the end.
And, mind you, VII is still a sequel itself.
>Leia is now Luke's sister which makes the universe a lot smaller for no reason.
>Han and Leia do nothing in the entire movie
>Luke has no actual reason to join the dark side
>Some conversations were shot exactly like the boring shot-reverse shot conversations in the prequels.
>None of the main characters dies
There are many good parts, but it's not as well made as TESB, ANH and TFA.
You don't "join" the Dark Side. In the OT it's not Team Red Lightsaber the way it's lazily shaped later. You fall to it. He has reason to fall to it because he's impulsive, attached to his friends, and has the temptations all men do when given a lot of power.
I agree on the rest. I still think it's better than TFA and the prequels, though.
1. Empire Strikes Back
2. A New Hope
3. Return of the Jedi
Good-to-pretty awful tier
4. Phantom Menace
4a. Revenge of the Sith
5. Attack of the Clones
Star Wars in name only muh nostalgia soulless fanservice tier
The Force Awakens
seriously. It's weird and retarded that Qui Gon and anakin are butt buddies, but Obi-wan and Anakin share 2 fucking lines. When you watch the OT, Vader clearly cares more about Obi Wan than even his son. Everytime Luke does something impressive or surprising, Vader just mentions Obi-Wan and his training and opinions and shit. The dude clearly lost something important to him. In Ep. III, which is a great movie btw, Anakin hopes Obi-wan remained loyal to chancellor because he doesn't want to have to face him. He knows Obi-wan is the shit, and he's even jealous because he assumes Padme feels the same way.
They should have made Obi-wan and Anakin more like equals and both badass. Anakin is too unlikeable to care about his loss.
>worst special addition add-ons.
>Anakin ghost, Jabba palace song, Sarlacc dick beak.
> Jabba's palace is too cartoony and gay
> Death Star II (at least TFA is bigger and different)
> Endor is boring. Han and Leia don't grow as characters and honestly it takes away from the brilliant character development in ESB
I gotta say though, ROTJ made Luke the most badass character ever. He really transformed, and its believable. Props to Hamill. He's a lot like Obi-Wan is in the prequels. Cool, confident, powerful, but focused and good.
Switch 4 with 7 and I agree. 4 is really only hold to a pedestal because it was the very first one that started it all, the actual content isn't that good compared to 7. Plus 7 has better special effects anyway
but 6 has more Sheev than 7, don't you like Sheev?
