Season 1 was fantastic. Extremely good.

Season 2 was really mediocre. Decent jokes, but some shit-tier plot points that were self-contained (Caroline and that rabbit guy, Mr. Peanut-Butter not getting mad at Diane). The problem is that those sorts of plot points begun and were summed up within the same season, making it a little pointless to watch, whereas some plot points carried over from the first season and worked much better (Bojack and that deer woman, for example).

Also because it's realistic in it's portrayal of slow development, not "le happy montage makes everything better". Mr. Peanutbutter and Diane's wedding didn't suddenly make them lovey-doveys, Bojack's role in his dream movie didn't suddenly fix his whole life. Having a qt3.14 superb owl gf didn't fix his personality. /tv/irgins are convinced a sudden change which comes from above will save them from their miserable selves. But it won't.

It gets easier, every day it gets a little easier. But you have to do it every day. That's the hard part.

I've re-watched the show a few times and have picked up on something I missed earlier every time.

I think the people who call it shit think it's nothing but, "ha ha, anthropomorphic animals trying to be human but doing Family Guy tier gag jokes, because they're animals after all!", which is really just a foil, or absurdist side element, to the Sartrean existentialism set in the 21st century Hollywoo core.
