Hadn't seen a The Simpsons for years, maybe a decade. Decided to watch one to see how bad it's become; season 27 episode 10. I'm almost at a loss for words. It's absolutely disgusting.
>Homer is fat and stupid LMAO
>Springfield Elementary gets a femynist coding teacher
>Lisa is the only strong empowered gurl in the class
>but is smarter than all the boys put together
>Homer loses job because of Marge commenting on social media
>goes to work in a greek restaurant (apparently bad stereotypes are a-okay to mock as long as the recipients are European)
>Lisa and some feminists build an app that predicts the future
>actually comic book guy builds the app but they jokingly dont allow him any credit
>all men are BETA loser dongledonkeys lol xD
>terrible Stephen Merchant cameo. cringeworthy.
>appearing on this show he is a candidate for JUST
>"I am a strong female"- Lisa Simpson (thats honesty a quote from the episode)
all tumblr humor. embarrassing. boring. generic trash comedy.
In the last flash forward episode Lisa became a polylesbian with two girlfriends because apparently being a regular lesbian wasn't progressive enough anymore
They have lowered production costs several times over the years. On show-runners, writers, the voice actors have taken numerous pay cuts since the heyday. Even the exec-producers don't make nearly as much as they used too. Most of the money is in merch.
Wasn't she in love with male school teacher? And then she was enjoying attention from boys as Miss Springfield or something. There was some other stuff like Valentine Day that I almost completely forgot.
You need to realize now that Simpsons as the continuity of a goldfish's memory. It always has, like remember when the Nuclear Plant was literally in the Simpson's back yard (when it still took Homer 45 minutes to drive there)
yeah, and the episode where she fell for Nelson. those days are over. she is a rampaging tumblr dyke now and there isn't an ounce of irony. honestly the 'humor' is inappropriate for a character that is supposed to be a moral and naive 8 year old.
JUST fuck my shit up T B H Familias
Witty banter and subtle humor along with social commentary has been replaced with sarcasm and slapstick.
The Simpsons used to make fun of people who were desperately trying to fit in and be part of the fad. Now they're the ones jumping on the montly hype train.
Just pretend season 10 was the last one.
Isn't there a mountain range that runs north/south somewhere on either side of Moscow, almost or completely top-to-bottom? I kind of always assumed that was the implicit boundary.
Also, saying that the distinction is purely cultural, you're making a horrible error while drinking those Social Juices: No European nation has a culture on its own, and certainly no cultural overall. That would be like drawing a distinction between a bird and a worm, purely on the flight skill of the creatures.
I don't get why season 10 is the cut off. 11 and 12 both had really good episodes, the show's decline wasn't that abrupt, if anything it became utterly unwatchable shit from season 15/16 onwards
I walked in my house last night and this was on TV. Granted I havent watched the show in a good ten years. I kept waiting for Lisa to realize something wrong about these cunts but it never happened.
People like round numbers.
Season 7 is probably the last good season, with some decent stuff in 8. And even if 8 is an even number, it's doesn't end in a 0, so people get offended and round up.
That's just the point where it went from more than a couple of bad/hamfisted episodes each season.
There are still occasional good episodes of the simpsons but it changed pretty drastically even within the 'seaosn 1 to 11' frame.
"imnicolascagebitch: My tall baby is rocking that fedora ummpppf~"
Found this gem doing a google images search of "Stephen Merchant fedora"
There was ONE good joke in the episode.
Comic Book Guy is employed as the "token male" in the female coding group. He says "Everything I say offends them." One of the girls immediately responds "What do you mean THEM?!"
"Hello! I am Caroline, a very devoted Smerchette, who runs a Stephen Merchant appretiation blog. I do a lot of doodles, and a lot of Smerchspammng. And... that's about it. I'm a British weirdo who wants to act alongside Stephen Merchant one day, and I was lucky enough to meet him!
Stephen, if you are reading this, it may be a good idea to leave pretty sharpish. Firstly though, you're awesome and really cool, but please leave here right now."
Those are actual physical fucking barriers that have LITERALLY kept different groups of people apart for thousands of years you fucking retard. It's the fucking antithesis of arbitrary cock
>have kept different groups of people apart
No wonder Steve Merchant is perpetually single with his calibre of fans.
Arbitrary, I.e it doesn't matter... When in reality it matters a great deal. It's like saying the walls of your shitty piss bottled filled basement don't matter, when they are a literal fucking barrier between you and your mother dating you jerking off to tyranny porn you clueless cuck.
In fairness Europe and Asia should not be considered separate continents based on any consistent definition of continent.
It is also unfair that Europe gets singled out as a separate continent when on Eurasia it is only one of at least 4 major cultural regions along with the Muslim world, India and East Asia. Of course you could argue that Arabia and India should also be defined as subcontinents, but then you are left with a clearly continuous landmass divided into 4 continents. Europe also isn't even geologically separated from Asia so even under that definition it falls flat.
Europe is purely a political continent, and that's okay, but for the sake of proper geography/geology it should probably be redefined as a region.
>Hey, how about the mountains and the lake?
>Wow, that'd be sick, yeah
>The mountains don't join up to the lake though
>Haha that's alright then, I'm sure you can find a river. Yeah just find a river haha
>He posts a graph literally refuting the point he's trying to make
>He doesn't even realise what an ass he's making of himself
>the imaginary borders of europe are deep inside Russian territory
>yet mongol genes come as far west as Ukraine
>doesn't even know where his imaginary borders should be
I think the best part of this plot is the writers actually believe female programmers exist and aren't just a feminist meme.
Did anyone hear about this? I watched the show and never even heard about the movie. 71% on Rotten Tomatoes.
>mens haircuts and clothes on all of them
if feminists hate men, why do they want to be us so bad?
Just watched the episode, its cancer.
Seriously female coders are treated differently? yeah, nope. Just because there is less of them, that doesn't mean that there is some sort of retarded sexism.
Women simply dont learn to code as often as men.
I was fucking done with the show years ago, im even more fucking done now. (literally only watched this episode to see how degenerate it got)
>He thinks barrier means "insurmountable barrier"
>He thinks posting like this unironically doesn't make him look even dumber
"Lisa—who due to the floating timeline could be construed as a Gen Xer or a Millennial—is a casual ambassador of third-wave feminism. She fights for the rights of all living creatures, from animals to trees. She’s well-informed, hyper-ambitious, and shows a willingness to learn about different cultures. Moreover, Lisa’s so politically correct that she once told a stuffed animal Bart was the black sheep on the family, and immediately followed with, “Not that black sheep are in any way inferior to white sheep.” Lisa is indicative of that hand-in-many-jars thing we tend to strive for: we’re attempting to be to be ultra-inclusive, to strive for large personal accomplishments, and to, for lack of a better term, have it all."
I always see hatred for The Simpsons everywhere.
Granted I haven't seen an episode since the early 2000s when I was like 8/9. I'm 23 now.
So tell me /tv/, what's so bad about the new Simpsons?
>claims said barrier as "continent" borders because it divides people
>it doesn't actually divide people
>W-WELL ITS NOT PERFECT!
nice try buddy but ural mountains are just as random border as Balkan mountains. why not make borders the volga river? why not Taurus mountains in Turkey? That's right because they took cultural relations as consideration before choosing those borders
Yeah, they did a similar show a few weeks ago I think where Lisa was getting all kinds of shit for being a woman inventor, and she found this record of a lady inventor from the 1800s who got locked in an asylum and apparently invented the first ever computer.
I really don't get this stupid fucking feminist narrative where they act like women in STEM are shit on all the time and aren't welcome. I've been in CS academia, no one cares, if anything those few women that do bother showing up are coddled by guys in that field.
All they're doing is selling themselves short, it was so fucking funny when the end of the episode came and the head coding chick told Lisa: You have to let us publish this app so we can prove that women can code.
These fucking weak middle class bitches are crying about prejudices that don't exist just so they can feel special meanwhile Malala Yousafzai is getting shot in the fucking face by real oppressors, fucking ridiculous.
Well an episode happened where Homer and Marge get divorced and then a distraught Homer knocks up Lena Dunham after a drunken one-night stand and Marge marries Kylo Ren - who goes on to become an awesome stepfather that teaches Maggie how to talk and convinces Lisa to give up vegetarianism.
Then it's revealed in the last minute that the whole episode was a nightmare Marge was having.
Then it's revealed in the last 30 seconds that the whole episode, including Marge's realization that the whole episode was a nightmare, is actually just a big tattoo on Lena Dunham's back. Dunham wakes up in bed next to Kylo Ren and he asks her what her tattoo means, and she tells him "It means never get drunk in Brooklyn."
Because this is 4chan I have to point out I'm not making up or exaggerating any of those plot details compared to what aired on FOX.
>This is a character that was so incensed by hearing the sexist platitudes spewing out of her talking Malibu Stacy doll that she created her own a doll with the “wisdom of Gertrude Stein and the wit of Cathy Guisewite.”
See, Lisa used to be a smart feminist and the writers got humor out of it. Now she's a rather naive feminist and the humor is absent. It's kind of similar to the transition between 2nd and 3rd wave.
my friends are doing CS and they say the girls never get more than 60% on programming subjects while almost every guy has 85%+ grades in them, I had one girl in my petroleum engineering class and she dropped out because the work ahead was going to be "hard"(while in reality we literally work for 1/12 hours on job)
Lisa is a typical tumblrite, that mean she wont shut up about muh oppresion but she love bad boys. Tumblr fucking love shoujo mangas and k-drama despite they're everything they complain on the media
Everything up to season 11 is good shit.
Season 11 is the turning point - it's not funny anymore, but not really cringeworthy, either.
Everything past that is abysmal shit.
And I'm being objective here - the drop in writing quality during season 11 is VERY obvious.
Why so many liberals are upper class? At least on the third world, leftist actually do stuff like coup d'etat and public executions but murrican leftists are whiny rich kids smoking pot all day
Just like the walls of your basement aren't impenetrable, neither are the Urals. At no point in time did I nor anyone say that not a single human got through them you daft cunt.
Even your dumbfuck graph showed how effective the Urals were at stopping chinks from getting into white land, faggot
Life on the Road is an upcoming film written, directed, and produced by Ricky Gervais, who stars as David Brent, a role he played in the series The Office. The film will be done in the mockumentary style: a film crew shadows Brent as he travels up and down the country living his dream of being a rock star. Gervais said, "This film delves much more into his private life than The Office ever did and we really get to peel back the layers of this extraordinary, ordinary man." He has emphasized that the movie is "not an Office movie".
>no mention of Steve's involvement if any
He was gay for the purpose of one plot, then at the end of the episode, lolnope not gay after all, but please do give us brownie points for being progressive
The people writing this are retarded
>that episode when Lisa becomes a lesbian feminist wiccan
Cringeworthy fat old loser goes on literal nobodies talk show.
I haven't been to that site in almost 10 years.
The whole plot (other than that awful Greek bullshit) was about what a gigantic twat the lead coder was and Lisa trying to keep her app from being sold by the greedy feminazis. Their treatment of comic book guy, the treatment of the males in the coding class, forcing Lisa to wear the "edgy" look and fit in, all of their actions were portrayed as negative and bitchy. Tell me you honestly didn't realize all the "gurl power" shit was tongue in cheek
I don't understand. No one I know watches or talks about this show, and hasn't since the movie came out. So WHO keeps tuning in?! What's their demographic? Who are they making episodes for?
Watching it now
I'll post screenshots
Why is this a thing? Why is that look "gamer" or "nerd" when it comes to women?
Where does it come from?
The best part is that people are literally bending over backwards to get more women (and people in general) into STEM. This nonsense that tumblr is pushing about how shitty the field is for women is doing more harm than good in terms of scaring women away.
Liberal philosophy is synonymous with a higher degree of intellectuality and success. It's only to be expected that deep thinkers would align themselves with a credo that prioritises the good of all, rather than the bestial self-service of their detractors.
It's telling that the stance they took at the end was effectively "police yourself so you don't offend people", as opposed to "learn to take a fucking joke".
Really, their own plotting betrays them, as Burns being oh so offended that he fires Homer is meant to be funny because of his overreaction to something so innocuous, which we are then told to not do in order to appease people like Burns.
Arbitrary doesn't mean something doesn't matter you illiterate fucking cunt.
See now I could have called you a shit-eating dumbass, or I could have called you a retarded faggot, or I could have called you an uneducated fucking spastic; the meaning in each of these things is the same, and that meaning is important to the message I am conveying to you (you are wrong and stupid and I don't like you) but the specific choice of words to convey that meaning is arbitrary.
Well she is The Lizard Queen
Wouldn't be surprised if The Simpsons went full tinfoil hat and ended up with Lisa being groomed by reptilians who are impersonating famous celebrities and politicians.
Imagine being Adam Driver in this scene.
>Lisa please, we have a chance to show all the dongledonkies that women coders can do something extraordinary! but you have to be tough
I was at universal last week, the line for the krusty ride has a bunch of monitors that show a reel of jokes and scenes from the show. Shit was fucking hilarious, the safety instruction video and ride itself was great too. I'm not even sure what's going on with the show anymore, it's awful.
And how much coding have they done in the last six months? Willing to bet they've been busy standing in the middle of major highways protesting criminals getting ventilated by the police and blocking ambulances from getting to the hospitals.
...and having to be all like "damn, Lena Dunham, you fuckin' fine, all sexy with your flabby body and horrific square ass. I would totally have sex with you, both my character and the real me." when all he really wants to do is work on his screenplay in his dressing room. Like seriously imagine having to be Adam and not only sit there while Lena Dunham flaunts her disgusting body in front of you, the purposely revealing lighting showcasing her blubber and pallid skin, and just sit there, take after take, hour after hour, while she perfected that dance. Not only having to tolerate her monstrous fucking visage but her haughty attitude as everyone on set tells her she's EMPOWERING and DAMN, REAL WOMEN LOOK LIKE THAT?? because they're not the ones who have to sit there and watch her mannish fucking gremlin face contort into types of grimaces you didn't even know existed before that day. You've been enjoying nothing but a healthy diet of patrician taste accompanied by your beautiful, loving wife, for your ENTIRE CAREER coming straight out of the boonies in San Diego. You've never even seen anything this fucking disgusting before, and now you swear you can taste the sweat that's breaking out on her bloated stomach as she sucks it in to writhe it suggestively at you, smugly assured that you are enjoying the opportunity to get paid to sit there and revel in her "modern (for that is what she calls herself)" beauty, the beauty she procured over years and years of fried chicken and ice cream. And then the director calls for another take, and you know you could kill every single person in this room Kylo Ren style before the studio security could put you down, but you sit there and endure, because you're fucking Adam Driver. You're not going to lose your future career as leader of the Knights of Ren over this. Just bear it. Hide your face and bear it.
Imagine being Arnold in that scene and having to be all like "damn, Pebbles, you fuckin' fine, all sexy with your shapeless body and horrific androgynous monster face. I would totally have sex with you, both my character and the real me." when all he really wants to do is fuck Allison Williams in his dressing room. Like seriously imagine having to be Adam and not only sit in that chair while Pebbles flaunts her disgusting body in front of you, the favorable lighting barely concealing her stretchmarks and retarded tattoos, and just sit there, take after take, hour after hour, while she perfected that dance. Not only having to tolerate her monstrous fucking visage but her haughty attitude as everyone on set tells her she's STRONK and DAMN, LENA DUNHAM LOOKS LIKE *THAT*?? because they're not the ones who have to sit there and watch her mannish fucking gremlin face contort into types of grimaces you didn't even know existed before that day. You've never even seen anything this fucking disgusting before, and now you swear you can taste the sweat that's breaking out on her distended stomach as she sucks it in to writhe it suggestively at you, smugly assured that you are enjoying the opportunity to get paid to sit there and revel in her "healthy at any weight (for that is what she calls herself)" beauty, the beauty she worked so hard for with personal trainers in the previous months. And then the director calls for another take, and you know you could kill every single person in this room before the studio security could put you down, but you sit there and endure, because you're fucking Kylo Ren. You're not going to lose your future Star Wars/Capeshit career over this. Just bear it. Hide your face and bear it.
>this is what people think 'programmers' look like
Lisa is actually the most dynamic and relatable character in the show though. Even in the good seasons (1 to ~11) it was that way.
Early Homer was actually just a piece of shit person despite how hard he'd try and everyone around accepted him for it,
Marge was the epitomised mother with the odd mid-life crisis which lasted an episode at a time.
Bart was the embodiment of ADHD and schoolboy antics, and that's really it
Lisa was complex, resented her family but inherited a lot of their characteristics, intelligent, a struggling creative, selfish tendencies from her dad and constant pity for her mom. She was a lot of the things that anyone from a less-than-great family experienced growing up.
Christ, did anyone enjoy those fucking Marge episodes though?
>empowered female makes a dongle joke to insult all the boys at an elementary school
>wow, so progressive
>two male programmers make a private joke about dongles within earshot of a SJW
>one of them loses their job over sexual harassment because of it
>wow, so progressive!
Man, I don't really care whether it was SJW or not, but that was one of the shittiest Simpsons episodes I've seen. The plot was retarded, the jokes bad and the cameos made me feel sorry for the actors. It was to heavy-handed to even succeed at pandering.
your problem is that I'M THE PLEN THAT WON THE WAR
Watching this now
>Smithers are you playing that grindr game again
They don't even try to be clever anymore
I think the only modern Simpsons I've actually enjoyed is the one where Homer sets up a team of secondary characters to help write the next YA shit novel, mostly because Homer and Bart were actually pretty competent and cunning but then they had to go and ruin it by making Lisa come out on top again in the end. Still a fun episode.
