you realize that at the cinema everyone used to talk and boo and shout at the screen and even throw things and discuss the film while it was playing

kinos tried to bring it back. part of me likes that idea of community but the bitter part of me would just want to watch the movie in peace with no interruptions.

I could totally understand that for classic stories you already were familiar with and could MST3k it with your m8s. It would encourage you to make single-serving friends around you, too. Of it were more of a pub atmosphere and not totally dark I think it would help.

From a sociological standpoint, I get that it's odd the only acceptable outbursts are laughter (and gasps if you want to count that).

Went to movies with my buddies after i funneled a 24 pack over a few hours. Went like this .
