The captain falls of his ship during an space walk after waking up from hyper sleep not before accidentally knocking over the cage which held his boa constructor.

So weyland stepped up to the plate. The screen is filled of beauty both sexy sons of peter weyland basking in the coldness of the space ship. Gay Tennessee Dancing with such innocence in accord to David's flute fingering. Unbeknownst to Gay Tennessee however is David's intent... It's not true love, he desires to create the ultimate specimen with Tennessee's boa constructor...any boa constructor......

Highlights:
>Nikki and everything having to do with Nikki is a fantasy made by Sue
>Sue is a reincarnation of the Lost Girl (the girl in the room watching the TV) and is in charge of freeing her from her purgatory. The other main characters are also reincarnations of the people from Old Poland and are supposedly going through the same process as Sue is.
>Several characters (Janek, Mr. K, the two prostitutes, among others) are supernatural and are helping Sue along to achieve what is basically enlightenment
>The Phantom is just a force of nature that reflects evil or badness, the face in your image being that reflection of Sue's internal evil or badness, which she "defeats" as her final challenge to achieving enlightenment and freeing the Lost Girl from her (supposedly self induced) purgatory.

This is just one interpretation though but I think it makes the most sense. The movie started as unconnected scenes being filmed so there are no big picture at the beginning but it got more focused as Lynch filmed more and got an overall concept going.
