Have vague memories of visiting when I was a kid and my Dad moved us to Florida while he did some work in aerospace (he's a chemist.) I recall it being interesting, and recall having fun shooting around in air boats and shit.

Beware of pythons, I hear they have a lot of them there now.

I went April 2016. My hotel in Miami offered an Everglades tour so I did it. It took around an hour on bus to get there. I thought I was going to experience a swamp full of alligators and monsters, big mosquitoes, a safari-type adventure, etc.

Nope. It's humid, and flat as the eye can see. I rode around the water for half the day in one of those hover boat things, with about ten other people. Saw a few gators. All they do is swim slowly with their eyes poking out the water. Sometimes you’ll see one sunbathing. That's about it. The tour guide explained that alligators need to conserve their energy as much as possible, which is why they hardly ever move. They only eat about once a week. I didn’t know this. It was cool for the first hour, then I was bored. The Everglades reminds me of a huge lake with lily pads. Every once in a while you see a cool looking bird, or you get a nice warm breeze. The Everglades is huge so maybe it was just the area where I was in, but that was my experience.

Went Houseboating there in the 70's w/4 other people. Quite and mellow time. Only bird noise.

Stop being old, oldie

Isn't it sad that someday people who literally don't exist yet will judge you for being alive right now?

It's not sad. It's going to be poetic when time ravages the asshole that doesn't respect his elders.
