A very large aspect of vore I've always enjoyed a lot is basically everything that goes with pre-vore. When the predator is just looking at prey with that glint in their eyes, smelling them, feeling them around, thoroughly checking them with only one intent in mind for them: eating.
Dialogue there works in similar way, except that turns the situation instantly social and usually even kinda theatretical.
Instead, all those little details and actions that normally are never exchanged between two actual persons that are pretty normal between a person and food are now directed towards _someone_, and being the target of that would be just incredible.

It's not out of evil nor loving intentions, it's just the natural part done with things you eat. It can be easily contextualized one way or another but I just inherently love that part about vore.
CakeInferno's videos are fantastic, but I especially adore the way they give this sort of thing a lot of focus.

Sorry if the question is inflammatory, but for those that don't, why do you NOT like safe, or even just both-way pleasant vore?

Not judging, just curious because usually I can understand the appeal also in things I'm not into with ease, but this one eludes me. Some people seem to really oppose that sort of vore which seems tad unusual of a reaction to something as neutral as that.

Vore isn't some "ultimate hug" or "prey lovingly giving themselves entirely to the pred", it's a primal, natural, even violent thing where the predator is literally consuming and digesting another being live.

Making it all lovey dovey or safe gets rid of the reason why I like it in the first place; the pred being a primal glutton and sating their hunger with living beings, often just for the sake that they can because they're such a powerful predator.

I like safe vore when it's an innocent and cute thing, but my fetishes are all peril and fear-driven due to personal experiences. Safe vore makes for an "awww" moment to me, but it's not something that appeals to me on a more primal sense.
I like being scared, I like exploring themes of struggle in fiction. They make me feel more in control of my own life. I find the increase in heartrate thinking about being hunted and devoured by someone much larger and stronger who was able to outsmart me and being unable to escape and prevent my own demise to be titillating and it makes me squirm. Safe vore doesn't do that for me at all. It's just a cute big guy keeping a cute little guy safe. I enjoy it, but in a completely different way.
I also don't do romance AT ALL and have noncon kinks which I'm sure plays into that.

The visceral emotions of being utterly dominated by a hungry creature and made into their literal food. It's dehumanizing and humiliating and the intensity of the scenario hits me right in the dick like nothing else. Fearboners are very much a real thing. I always think that with some people, the high excitement of fear and arousal maybe get crosswired somewhat, at least when presented with certain perilous scenarios that their fetish fixates on. There's something I can easily relate though. I did mention vore that's pleasant but not safe for prey.
It's still morbid, but hits a big personal appeal with vore for me; I like getting scared and intimidated in vore, I don't like actually getting hurt and suffering. Judging by http://www.strawpoll.me/13892083/r I'm not alone either.

A lot of vore does that weird thing where prey is thrown into pool of acid and then it ends there or skips any parts actually showing what would happen to emphasize the scary rather than just the dark aspect of it, but either way just completely ignoring the morbid and terrifying implications of what just happened. As a prey insert that often bugs me because it's not like you can just skip it all with a moving camera and timeline, you're in for that ride all the way to the end and there is no stopping it.
Which I agree is titillating, but often more than just a bit too much when you get into it vividly.

Vore is essentially an abstraction of bondage and rapeplay or a dom/sub fetish to me, it's not about comfort or love, it's about the dom - the pred - abusing and gaining satisfaction out of the sub usually for sexual gratification, now the fictional sub isn't going to get pleasure out it like a sub in real life, but the viewer self inserting or viewer as a voyeur watching the act is.

I finally had a vore dream last night.

For the longest time as I had vore fantasies and even dreams it never really occurred to me to just watch it happen between others or to be outside on the situation, it was always myself as the target of getting eaten and still is for the most part.
