When you make an OC, think of a species you like either visually or conceptually. Think of where that species comes from and work your way from there. Play up or break the stereotype. You could make a kangaroo that's an australian stereotype, crocodile dundee and all that. Kentucky has a "Kentucky Down Under" park, you could make him a southern redneck kangaroo. You could make him into a boxer, a beach-bum, a surfer, or go against that and make him a professor, a nerd, a gamer, something smart. Visually, you can either just make a normal kangaroo or give him something distinct. Does he have a favorite hat he wears all the time? Are his ears really long or short, is he self-conscious of them? Does he wring his tail when he's nervous? Is he buff, or is he more sleek?

So this isn't really a request exactly, although I wouldn't mind a delivery with her. What I'm looking for is input.

Right side is an old character I made in 2006-ish. She was supposed to just some random magical dragon. Left is a 2015 retooling I made, and I decided to make her my world's take on the Dragon Goddess. So I wanted to make her design more fitting of the new status, but I felt like a lot of the charm was lost in this new design and I want to know where I fucked up.

I've already decided the rainbow wings are stupid, and white matches her hair better, and maybe I should return the spine things on her back, and shorten the neck. But anything else?

Not going into super powers, I haven't decided on that yet. The OC is a goddess in an entire pantheon of other gods, and they're all competing for the worship of mortals, some of them have a friendly competition, others are more hostile about it.

She'd probably want to be like one of those guys from Primal Rage. Weren't they all about getting human worship? But she'd be more like that rarely seen god or goddess that drops off important upgrades for the chosen hero or whatever.

Are you sure you didn't get mixed up when you wrote that? Your description of things you want to change about the re-tooling make it sound like the right-hand one is the more recent version.

Assuming the right-hand side is the retooled version, then I agree that it's not as charming as the original. I think the charming qualities of the original boil down to several neotenous (childlike) features of her design:

>her eye shape is rounder (the elliptical eye shape in the retool makes her look like she's squinting, which gives her a demeanor of seriousness or even anger)
>her eyes are slightly larger in the original
>the size of her head and legs, compared to her body, is larger in the original
>the overall body shape is more elongated in the retool, which is more suggestive of adulthood
>body shape in the retool is also "thicker" overall, while in the original it looks like she has a slight belly

Also, the original shows her smiling and sticking her tongue out, so she seems friendlier (and friendly people tend to be more charming, after all)

Those are good notes. I definitely agree with all of it. I definitely don't really want an overly serious personality for her, so maybe drawing a squinty frown in the retool wasn't the best idea.

So I realized that this is a bit too (see: 'way too god damn') "magical realms" for /tg/ but if you guys don't mind I'd like a character drawn up. A cow alchemist that lactates potions by eating ingredients.

Basically an anthro cow/minotaur that would sell the adventurers surprisingly refreshing drinks. She's basically the "Tough but fair" type of motherly, but completely unaware of some basic human norms, like not whipping out your tits to fill a bottle up in a town square, or maybe wising up to why adventurers would pay extra to drink from the tap. Essentially, the character is like a slime humanoid, but the outside of their body is very taut and rubbery, rather than wet. However the inside is what's gooey, rather than the outside. If the outside layer is harmed, the inside will work to harden and morph in response to physical trauma. They can be any colour of the spectrum, depending on various environmental effects on their body. They have 6 small cores in their body that regulate their systems, rather than a central system like a brain. One in each wrist, one in each ankle, one in the center of their body, near where the middle of the spine would be on a human, and one on the head. Their features are rather androgynous, they have no set sex, they can reproduce on their own, like some species of fish. They primarily look like humans in the face and body proportions, however their have a larger iris. (Not like pic related.) If the description is too advanced lemme know. Just throwing in pic related since its a decent slime people ref. If you do draw it, I'd prefer a short haired slime with cyan colouration. (Or no colour.)

A blind character could have thrills trying to feel their way around a new place and get a good feel for their partner, characters with missing limbs can have thrills from having to learn to deal with new problems and also might make it easier to do BDSM related stuff a god character just seems they'd be into generic stuff, doesn't mean you are but it just seems that way, yaknow? Stuff like rape or being a pet/slave just doesn't seem as fun or possible when the person you are raping or making your pet can just teleport away or whatever

People try to justify suffering by giving it a purpose when it has none. I give my characters paradise because shit happens IRL but it doesn't have to in fiction.
