In light of recent revelations, I am anticipating a flood of unofficial Dinobot combiners on the after market. I've checked out what I could, and youtube vids basically lick both combiner's feet. Forum posts say both have stability issues. From my observations, I'm leaning towards Gcreations because
>Amazing Combined Heads
>Better aesthetic
>Better individual Dino modes

I'm asking if anyone here has either and if they could give their thoughts. Are these guys even worth it at, even at large discount? Any Diecast? Is the chorme tough? Do they actually stay together, and could you compare the stability to any other 3p combiner?
>>
>>6442114

Nah, just use the long one and you'll be fine in both modes.
>>
>>6442127

I want one where Sludge becomes the legs and Swoop's just the wing backpack...

I always liked the idea of Sludge being bigger than the others.

I'm not big on repaints.

Who do you think has / will have the best legends Soundwave then? Not entirely sure on Hot Soldiers' offering, and DX9 is going to be a definite "no" from me. I know there's at least 1 other that's supposed to be in the works, but I can't remember who was making it.
>>
>>6442224

Personally I'm going with the Hot Soldiers option. For one, it's only $15.
DX9's is much more expensive and looks the same or worse, and IF's has both a shit altmode AND is only in a box set with Perceptor. I can excuse missing an upper arm swivel on a Legends 3P figure for $15, and if a better one comes along at some point, I'll snatch that one up.
>>
>>6442243
Keep in mind, HTS is larger than most legends figures. He will be a big Soundwave. Also, no upper arm swivel. Still a great figure though and worth the price.
>>
>>6442334
>>6442243
The only one that I'm still seeing listed in stock at the $16 price point is Soundblaster. Other than that it's the toy-color version that's ~$25 that has the 2 weird colored cassettes, or the clear plastic version.
>>
Well I'll be damned TFS actually shipped out all those iron factory figures the same day I ordered them.

Fucking miracle.

Sorry for potato quality camera

Got Susanoo this morning and he's pretty great. Solid joints and the rubber pads on his feet let him pull of a lot of dope samurai poses.

Only negative I've encountered is there's a lot of tabs and flaps to re-align when posing him in bot mode but overall he's a solid Bludgeon and a rad robot toy.
>>
>>6442127
I've got GCreation's set and despite owning it for a few months at this point, I have yet to actually combine them. Guess I've just been a bit wary of the task, I dunno.

It's a decent looking set overall though. I'm not a big fan of the legs on most of them. The thighs on most of them are kinda scrawny and the knee articulation feels and looks a bit odd (not-Swoop being the major exception) and aside from not-Grimlock, I'm not a big fan of the faces. That being said, combined mode (despite not having actually done it yet) is what sold me on GCreation over TowWorld. Both suffer stability issues from what I hear but GCreations' effort just looks more cohesive and properly gets the whole "bestial rage" vibe down. I absolutely LOVE the combined mode head. ToyWorld's offering just looks too... I dunno, "heroic", which is something the Dinobots have never been about. It looks like Superion were made of dinosaurs.
>>
>>6442377
I like mine a lot too, thought on mine the turret pops off easily and I had to reconfigure some of the track lengths in order for him to allow them to actually reach enough to hook together.

That's cool and all but I feel like WeiJaing has already given us a better Hound by retooling the absolute fuck out of the official mold.

It really goes a long way to show how much better Hasbro's figures could be, even if they had only half of extra engineering and paintwork WJ added, and with their ability to produce much higher numbers and offset costs, they could still probably offer them at reasonable prices.
>>

Man, I really wish I could like him, but that waist design just sucks. The waist joint should have been above the skirt armor. Ideally, it could have been a ball joint that allowed for an ab crunch too while giving a different design for the extendo spine. Maybe then you could turn his waist with the turret on.

I want to love him, but he's full of good ideas marred by both too little and too much engineering. Doesn't help that mine was missing his shins armor too.

>but he's full of good ideas marred by both too little and too much engineering

I agree. Transforming him into tank mode for the firs time was a tense experience. Even with the instructions I was still scared of hamhanding him into bits.

Tank mode is sold though, I'm amazed how solid it feels despite all the pieces being held on stalks/rails.
>>
I see a lot of mixed responses to Cross Dimension on here.

While I own Rioter Despotron and Striker Noir and planon picking up Thunder Erebus, I'm interested in hearing some of the issues people have with the line.

Most of what I hear tends to be the aesthetic but some people also criticize how good the articulation is?

Why is good articulation a bad thing?

I personally enjoy the line because the shape and design of the molds themselves carry a lot of character, and the articulation helps that even further.
>>
>>6442461
Is that a thigh swivel on him or just where the two pieces are glued together?
>>
>>6442696
There's a swivel, but it's a bit tight.

Just got my hands on Bridge Watcher here. He was actually on sale where I got him (Fuck the Canadian dollar), and I've been meaning to get a small Shockwave since I missed out on almost all of Generations so far.
>>
>>6442680
People complain about articulation because mire articulation means more joints which means more poses they can be shit at making for photos. Basically people dont like him because they are shit at posing.

Also the aesthetic isnt quite chug nor mp so it doesn't fit most collections.
>>
>>6442734
>>6442680
Too much articulation can be too much of a good thing for actually playing with a toy. For posing it's no problem, but when you're just fiddling around with your toys and constantly have to adjust multiple joints and realign multiple panels, it gets really annoying.

It's a silly complain/remark to make about a toy, but I think it's valid in some ways. It certainly shouldn't stop designers from putting as much articulation into something as they can, though.

I have Manus, Noir, and Rioter, and I love all of them, but there's plenty to be iffy on. The aesthetic is it's own thing and if you aren't on board from the pics, you're not gonna like the fig. I'd also say that that the Striker truck could look more solid, but I really like it for Noir since it looks so jagged and mean. Articulation though is a bullshit thing to bitch about, so they'd have to be contrarians or retards to whine about it.

My biggest gripe isn't with Cross dimension, but with Maketoys in general using that fucking hand rail system. All it does is make sliding the weapon into a hand more tedious. Plus if the weapon gets bumped or rotated hard enough, it could potentially bend the hand rails out of shape and prevent them from holding any weapons. It's bad enough that they have that crap hand design that barely looks good as a fist and looks ugly with the fingers uncurled, but then they have to make the weapons needlessly difficult to get into them. It's not impossible, but it shouldn't have to be so demanding for absolutely no gain, especially the fucking smokestack hatchets. They should just have swappable 5mm compatible hands so you can have ones that look good uncurled and you can just slide the weapons into the fists without having to dedicate more than 10 seconds to it.

Man, seeing the evolution of Iron Factory's engineering makes me yearn for V2s of some of their older stuff. Windblade and the Arcees could use some more articulaion and Perceptor and Soundwave need better alt modes.

Sadly that'll probably never happen due to the immeasurable shit storm it would cause.

Windblade and Arcee could be remade in bigger sizes and sans animu uguu faces without much issue I'd think. Soundwave and Perceptor could also probably get remade with their ACTUAL altmodes and get a pass.

And I say this already owning IF Arcee/Windblade.

I'd love to be proven wrong, but there's next to no chance that the official will be better than Feral Rex. Which in itself would be an accomplishment considering how shit Feral Rex is.
I'm not sure who would do Predaking justice. Iron Factory probably, but it'll be Legends and $250+. New TFC might do okay trying their hand at it again, but I'm afraid that the sculpt will be to round and soft like their Seacons and Road Caesar. Maketoys would make it stylized and while it'll look like pure sex it just wouldn't fill in Predaking for me. Warbotron/GT/TFM maybe?
>>
>>6443448
>how shit Feral Rex is

Well considering he's one of the best on the market, you're basically calling every combiner ever made shit. I know I'm feeding the troll here but c'mon bud, next you're gonna say the Earth is flat.
>>
>>6442744
I can kind of see where you're coming from and I agree somewhat in the case of Rioter as his hipskirts are pretty fiddly have a tendency to catch onto his hips when moving his legs around. His shoulderpads also move around on their armatures too much as well, and repositioning them can get kind of old. However, other than those examples I don't think that the amount of articulation on Striker or Rioter is excessive. The majority of their joints have just the right amount of tightness to them where they move only when you want them to, so if you're just fooling around with either of them they won't end up turning into a floppy mess.

>>6442680
So to answer your question, good articulation is not a bad thing, but excessive articulation can be. However when speaking about the Cross Dimension line so far I don't think it has passed into that threshold. Chances are whoever is complaining about it likely don't own the figures and/or don't like the general aesthetic of the line.
>>
>>6443463
Quantron, Guardia, Gravity Builder, and Poseidon are much better combiners in my book. Even Toy World Devy is better if you're into parts-forming.
Honestly, Feral Rex only edges out against the peers of his time: Giant, Hercules, and Intimidator.
>>
>>6443478
As an addendum, I didn't mention the Dinobot combiners because I know they're pretty much the worst. You know that they're the worst. We all know.
The Toyworld Dinobots are pretty nice CHUG toys though, if you forget about the combining aspect.
>>
>>6443448
No matter how shitty it is, people will say it's better just like with Devy, even if the official one is objectively the worst by far.
>>6443478
No, Giant and Intimidator are both miles better than Feral Rex. And Hercules only looses because it gets floppy after a while.

I don't know how correct that is. That just seems like reductive bullshit. I don't even really know people who ONLY collect mainline or 3P.

It's really a crapshoot. Some things will stick around damn near forever (unpopular things, garbage things), some will sell out instantly but get reissued (MMC Tarn), others will sell out and then never be seen again, etc.

>Gravity Builder and Poseidon exist
There you go. Perspective, it's a bitch.
Seriously, think about it. Feral Rex came out at a time where the only comparisons were: Energon trash, DLC polished Energon trash, G1, Giant, Hercules, and Intimidator. Remember, we thought Hercules was the hottest shit when it came out? (I still think the tread arms are the best way to do Devy in all honesty) People were paying a $100 a figure for that shit. Things have changed now. 3P figures are improving. The paint, engineering, articulation, everything. I think HasTak's Combiner Wars really changed my perspective too. Not because of the toys themselves necessarily, but because of those goddam genius combiner pegs/ports. It really makes the previous combining methods look like the sloppiest dog shit.
>>
>>6443716
Poseidon is easily my favorite. Interesting team with a lot of personality, each individual figure is great on its own, colors are just the right kind of gaudy, scramble city mechanic is actually incorporated without fucking anything else over, combined form is dead fucking solid and can actually hold poses, transformations between all modes on each of the individual bots is intuitive enough and fairly pleasant instead of a total chore like many combiners. Combined mode elbow articulation is a little lacking but it's enough to still give plenty of posing options so it's not the worst.

Rex shows his age a little but only by comparison to sets like Poseidon who have had the advantage of a company learning from previous offerings. He's still otherwise one of the best combiners we've ever gotten, which says a lot when he was one of the earliest sets and was MMC's first attempt at it. I'm with you anon, I just don't understand the sudden hate for him.
>>
>>6443752

Being 2nd or 3rd is hardly a bad place to be. Especially now, when other competition to be the best actually exists. There are a SHIT TON of 3P combiners now, and theres still only 3, maybe 5 at the least, ones that are good.

GB, FR, Poseidon. MAYBE Quantron. Not-Road Caeser will probably end up good, if only because it's using the same connection system as Poseidon apparently, judging by how people can use Laster as a leg for the Not-Seacons. And what else is there out there thats decent? Hulkie? And Probably IF's Bruticus.

It's a really, really tiny pool of good combiners, man. Especially with how many of them are out there.

If only HasTak could get their fucking QC under control and stop using garbage plastics. They offered a simple yet elegant system to combiner pegs/ports but it means fuck-all when the figures themselves can't hold together for shit.

Quantron and Guardia are objectively worse for a variety of reasons. Gravity Builder is better in some regards, and worse in others, depending on how you want to angle it (trash robot modes with kibble supreme and restricted posing, but a solid combined form that's on par with Rex). Can't comment on Poseidon but he looks to be solid in all modes so that's not a surprise.

Feral Rex shits on combiners from his time period and still holds up well.

You're asking an honest question, and I'll give an honest answer, even if it breaks your "barring aesthetic gripes" rule, since that's.. exactly my main issue with him.

To play by your rules first though; too many panels and pegs that come loose when trying to pose him, on shoulders / calves / ribs. Definitely not a dealbreaker for most or even me since I stomach the issues with Gravity Builder just fine.

But then there's the look. I admit, he actually looks solid as a combiner, but the color scheme rolling with the goofy arm-kibble appearance is just painful. Part of me adores how the ambulamps arm looks almost like armor, but given it's not matching on the other side in any real poses (notable when you try to make him flex or point, as the ambulance starts to unhinge to allow it), it's.. offputting.

Then there's what really breaks it for me; the "ehn" robot modes. Only amazing one is (like most combiner sets) the body, the rest are mediocre sans the garbage motorcycle.

Vehicle modes are fine, they knock it out of the park.

When I compare it to Rex though, Rex does fantastic in 2/3 of the modes, and the worst is their alt modes, which is still pretty solid for the most part. I like that the mold reuse gives a degree of uniformity, and the worst complaint I have about Rex is that his range of elbow motion is somewhat limited, although it can apparently be rectified with a modification, but it's not a big improvement.

The only combiners worth bringing up are Gravity Builder, Poseidon, Rex, and Constructor. Maketoys does some fantastic stuff, but sadly they picked a bad combiner (aesthetically) to put work in to, as Defensor isn't popular, visually interesting, or sporting an appealing theme (WEW RESCUE VEHICLES). Compare that to the other popular choices and it's not hard to see why they're lauded as such.

I'll apologize and point out I was wrong when I said it was objectively worse, with regards to combined mode. Definitely not in all modes, though.

Eh, alright. I think Rex's aesthetic, choice of plastic, and deco are horrible. I feel like 3P's have "evolved" in aesthetics and Rex was left in the dust.
>>
>>6443924

I forgot to add that fanprojects Dinoking is actually very solid as well and able to hold both of his oversized weapons with little issue. It's just that he's a cluster fuck to manipulate from the waist down. Too much shit on the thighs and the legs are too fucking big and get in the way. You can sort of get them out of the way of one another but it defaults to the widest a stance. Also the head just flips around. It's a shame since FP did a great job with the connectors being one of the most solid and intuitive to latch and unlatch.
>>
>>6443940
I think the only combiner that has usurped Rex in all regards is Poseidon, but not entirely until we get a God Neptune recolor, since that'll give both combiners a color-matching option. That's probably the only bad thing about Poseidon, his colors, as everything else looks utterly amazing. Robot, alt, and combined modes look and pose better.

I know nobody asked but I'll compare Builder to Rex straight up - Builder's robot modes are... hit or miss. Some are pretty decent, two are TERRIBLE (I can't currently remember and I'm sure as fuck not taking him apart to recall), and a couple were really solid. I can't blame GT for Builder's inability to do a lot of poses with his legs (given they really wanted to stick with a shovel/truck foot), but... fuck does it make him hard to like. Rex poses much more powerfully despite having a more dated joint system, although I'd probably sing a different tune if GB just fucking had fully ratcheted hips. They're snug, but the fact is he'll still start to sway with a bit of effort, and given how heavy his arms are it's not difficult to make him decide to go for a dive.

Honestly the only thing I really wish about Poseidons colors is that I think he would have just looked better in the actual shades from the G1 Seacons. Their attempts to sort of make a more "mature" version of the color scheme or whatever by making the colors less vibrant just made it look a little worse. This might sound like a dumb question but why 3P companies (not KO) haven't made TR compatible products? You'd think that by not giving a shit about copyright they could fill the gaps that hastak has left such as Apeface or Snapdragon.
>>
>>6444526
There's probably more money to be made selling stand alone figures than upgrades or companions to Official figures. Company's are targeting the high end collectors market with Masterpiece alikes since those seem to be the hot ticket items and there's simply to many characters to be made officially right now. Couple that with the fact that upgrades and add-on more often cost as much or more than the figure it goes with and many would see it as a bigger gamble with too small a reward.

>>
>>6444552

The Springer Wars are currently raging with some already out and some on the way, I personally have the Unique Toys one and absolutely love it, one of my favorite 3rd party figures but there's several that honestly all seem good

Both of the Blitzwings that are out are kind of iffy, FansToys has one coming soon that seems like it will end up being the best

I know there's been some Astrotrains and at least one of Octane and Sandstorm but none of them have looked good enough to me for me to really look into them

I had the old Fansproject Broadside back in the day and really loved it at the time but I eventually sold it and I think it would seem a little dated now but it's definitely not bad at all if you like the look of it
>>
>>6444612
They probably want you to buy their products and only their products. It's also why some companies have other unique designs, like the Maketoys hand rails or the numerous combiner ports. Shame too because I'd love to mix and match figures from different makers, but that's never gonna happen.

It is very hard to turn from a sleek, thin plane into a giant box of a tank, and into a big-ass robot made of boxes, and still somehow come out looking good. He's got the same issues that Astrotrain does, pretty much nothing on either of his alt modes can be used on the other so they can't cheat the parts much if at all, and they also need to finagle a fucking robot out of this mess somehow as well.

The best you're gonna hope for is a decent robot mode, and one decent alt mode, with the last one being shit. Thats all most triple changers can hope for, really.

Opinions on Chaos Paladin, anyone?

I know someone with one (don't own one myself) and got to play with for half an hour or so.
I was going to buy one for the longest time but kept putting it off, but I was frankly underwhelmed when I got to play with it.
I think it might just be the partsforming, even though it's highly configurable/customisable, which is a bonus.

Was playing with mine the other day. It's still a pretty nice figure. I'm surprised how well the Hercules bots hold up. They may not be as complicated, detailed or even as accurate as some of the newer third-party Constructicons but geez, TFC did a pretty damn good job at the time.

...it's a shame the only good thing they've made since is Poseidon and, arguably, Raging Bull (though I'm still holding out for someone else to make a better-engineered Road Caesar set, even if it's unlikely).

Better than FansToys though? Full disclosure, I'm not a FansToys fanboy (nor do I think all of their products are great), but it certainly looks better overall, especially as a camera.

That being said, I like how Maketoys' Visualizers have no partsforming (unless you count the flash) and a proper shutter button, though I think the partsforming on FansToys' version works because I like the weapons and the proportions of the camera seem better.

Hmmm, decisions, decisions.

Anon, I think you mean TFcon, not SDCC.

I haven't heard about the Chinese rumour but I had seen a lot of speculation on TFW, where other people were saying that there was a good reason they weren't there (I can't remember the exact details, but it was some sort of disagreement between Maketoys and someone else or something like that, and so they were a no-show because they didn't want to be there, not because they're dead).

I think Maketoys has likely been hurt pretty badly by KOs recently, which is a shame. Once I have some more money, there are a handful of their products which I'd love to buy.

The major complaints of the T30 from most reviews iirc:
>Non-geewun (up to your taste)
>Shoulders not-locking(fixable with effort)
>Paint transfer from helmet to nosecone (SOL)

I think it's a pretty okay mold mainly due to it deviating from the geewun design, anything that uses >>6444764 will mostly likely end up blocky with kibble.

I don't read the comics but I wonder if IDW has a sleeker redesign for Blitzwing, maybe some 3P can get on that if it exists.
>>
>>6443962
Call me a heathen but I prefer Hercules to Feral Rex. I ended up selling Feral Rex. He LOOKS great and playing with one or two of the figures at a time was fun, but I found it cumbersome to play with the entire set at once, posing or even just moving Rex was a royal pain in the ass (the wings and waist skirt kept falling off because he isn't easy to pick up from anywhere but the back or waist), and he was just far too chunky for my taste.

Don't get me wrong, I think Feral Rex is generally fantastic, but I personally want more of a toy experience than just a big-ass thing that is fiddly and difficult to pose but looks great on a shelf.

Also, his sword handle kinda sucks ass.
>>

>though I'm still holding out for someone else to make a better-engineered Road Caesar set

Honestly, it's using the same joint system as Poseidon, one figure is a straight up reshell of the other, and the whole thing is gonna be half the cost. Unless they unbelieveably fuck up Blacker, we should be good.

And since this is the FIRST combiner I'm going in on before it's fully out, I hope they don't fuck up Blacker. Laster came out fine (other than the windshield wiper issue, I guess), the other guy should be fine as he's literally just a reshell/remold of Laster, and the only thing to worry about would be Blacker.

The kibble really isn't any worse than most other jets, including MP-11 (watch the TCP video with Air Raid compared to MP-11) and it at least looks fairly sleek.

My one big worry is the tail fin section on both, because of how it's connected with the long series of rods. Hopefully those are done up in diecast so they don't break easily.

Laster has various other issues too, such as having to manually install parts (I don't mind doing that but it feels like that should have been done in the factory), parts coming missing out of the box, some things not tabbing together perfectly, along with the windscreen wiper issue...

Don't get me wrong, I still want it, but along with hating Braver's head and the rear-view mirrors on the inside of the legs, as well as the Brainmaster gimmick just not being as good as the G1 or MP Star Saber toys, I'm just a bit unsure about them.

I'll make up my mind for sure when Blacker comes out. I can't justify going all-in on this set before we see how Blacker turns out, since TFC is notorious for fucking up torsos.

I agree there, but I also see it as a non-issue. It's not the first toy I've owned with "some assembly required", and even then, it's just putting tabs into a hole.

>parts coming missing out of the box

Now this I haven't heard about. Care to expand on it?

Also hadn't heard of this, most tabbing issues I've seen were all people not tabbing it together correctly.

>>
>>6444949
>I agree there, but I also see it as a non-issue.
I also agree with you too, anon. My point is more just that it feels kinda cheap on TFC's part than anything.

In the TFW thread on Raging Bull, there are quite a lot of people who have mentioned that they have had it arrive without various light parts. Sometimes it's just one of the six headlight pieces. Sometimes it's one of the taillights. Sometimes it's multiple pieces.

Granted, it's only a handful of people in one thread on one website so it's hard to tell how widespread this issue actually is, but enough people were reporting it that it irked me.

And the Brainmaster head not being able to turn still kinda irks me too (mainly because I like and will use the Brainmaster gimmick rather than the ball-jointed head), though that's more of a knock against it than a turn-off for me.

Oh, and one last thing is the way the bicep swivels are cut off at diagonal angles by the squared-off shoulders. That's annoying, but again, not a major turn-off or anything.

As for it tabbing in, you may be right, but at the very least, it seems that certain things such as the leg panels can be kinda hard to tab in properly (i.e. they require a lot of force or something like that).

I do still want it but... I'm still thinking about it. I have other figure I want to get first, and I really wish Braver looked better. And then there's Blacker. They have to nail Blacker. If they do, I'll be more interested.

OP and orignator of that pic there.

I'm incredibly biased when it comes to stuff like Chaos Paladin because the whole armored mode/enhanced mode is my favorite play pattern of all time.

It's why I picked up KFC Simba and MP Starsaber and why I'll be picking up Thunder Erebus.

That being said the figure does have a few issues, mostly related to articulation and the tolerances of the PCC pegs and ports. The articulation in both Paladin mode and Chaos Mode can be somewhat limited and definitely shows its age.

But the best part of the toy is the versatility. I fucking love coming up with new arrangements and combinations like the one in the OP pic. Fuck, that one even gives him proper ankle tilts. It gets even crazier if you own multiple copies, similar to smashing the new Diaclone stuff together. I legit almost wish I owned another copy or two of this guy so I could pull off shit like this.

The short version is that he's DBZ Starscream. They had energy auras and everything, and the show had characters who would forgo their massive weaponry that hung off them so they could get into fist fights. He also has some absurd feats. IE: Tanking and soloing all the autobots, stealing a part of Primus's spark, becoming as large as Cybertron, gaining the ability to mass shift his body and limbs at will, so he was absolutely massive at the end of the show.
He was mostly successful until plot armor demanded Prime and Galvatron have a showdown. He ended up jobbing horribly to a powered up Galvatron who he was beating the shit out out of prior.

Odd that they didn't include a crown accessory for him though.

Is Leader-1 worth 50 dollaroos? I just found out that he's about the scale of the old CHUG seeker mold in both modes and the idea of a Good F-15 vs Evil F-15s gives me an itch.
>>
>>6445438
I heard he has some bits that don't tab in (his backpack, mainly) and I think he might be a bit of a pain to stand up. I think he might even be a little fragile. But from everything I've seen and heard, he seems pretty good. II don't have one but I know I want one.

Nope. Some genius had the bright idea to put an excessive amount of diecast on him, despite having fucking ball joints and being so small. It makes any posing a bitch for no gain other than increasing paint used and shipping coss
>>

>>6445033

yeah, this is a non-contender. but i'd still consider it if they gave us a CHUG scale version.

Yes.

For what it's worth I have him and really like him. I personally have no issues with floppiness or posing but I guess ymmv.
>>
>>6445447
That's what I saw on TFW. I DID say "apparently". Hey, if I'm wrong, I'm wrong. I just saw someone saying it was $70.
>>
>>6445451
Oh yeah, forgot about this.

Bandai almost never make good transforming figures. Once in a blue moon, they make something like SoC GaoGaiGar. Every other time, they make an absolute clusterfuck. Even their premium figures are sometimes fucked over by diecast. Idiots.
>>
>>6445486
Never mind, I must have misread a post. There's no price yet. Yeah, I highly doubt it'll be $70. If it was, I'd probably buy one despite the shitty wings.
>>
>>6445491
It'll be $120 minimum I'm sure

>HURRDURR CHUNKY BOTS CAN'T HAVE GOOD ARTICULATION

>Maketoys: Watch this, faggot

Almost 180 degree leg bends, 100~ degree arm bends, shoulder swiveling, ab crunch, waist swivel, ankle tilt, holy fuckballs take my money. I wouldn't be surprised if this fucker could do a pseudo-handstand on one of his arm-plates with one blade helping prop him up.
>>
>>6445498
>do a pseudo-handstand
Depends on how strong his shoulder swivel is and how far back his ab can extend.
I would love to try an accomplish it.
>>
>>6445488
It's not made by Bandai
>>
>>6445498
To be fair, the liberty offered by the I-transform-into-a-big-pile-of-scrapped-metal-that-doesn't-look-like-anything design and not having to keep the partscount down help a lot.
>>
>>6445574
He really is just a space triangle.
>>
Knowing that I'll only buy one per month, in which order should I buy FT Phoenix, FT Grinder and MT Contactshot to avoid price rising/sell out?
>>
>>6445574
I can't think of most chunky bots that look good in their alt modes anyway. MMC's Roadbuster molds all look like squashed-down bricks in theirs.
>>
>>6445558
Oh, you're right, my mistake. I forgot that someone else made them - I was just thinking of the original Machine Robo.

Still, they certainly seem to take after Bandai.
>>
>>6445013
Finally got around to watching this and holy fuck, that thing is better than I thought. I already wanted to buy it.

Now if only I weren't poor as fuck right now.
>>
>>6445579
I doubt you have to worry too much about Contactshot (and if he does sell out, there's always the KO).

I'd personally go for Phoenix first just because he's bigger and more expensive so you may as well get him ASAP before he goes up in price.

That being said, I don't have any of the three, I'd like all three (though Grinder I can take or leave), and that fucking chink better email me back about the Phoenix I ordered today else I'm filing a complaint to get my money back and I'll just buy it from ShowZ instead.

The high end robot action figure market and the Transforming toys market are usually divided pretty hard. I can appreciate it due to how impossible it would be to engineer something so complex yet look seamless in both modes with all that articulation to boot.

I got to play with a Sentinel piece at a con not to long ago and fell in love. Now I'm 350 in the hole after buying this crazy fucking thing from a show I've never seen. Give it a shot. I'm considering getting the MAS gigantic 18" prime figure for shit and giggles.
>>
>>6445622
Looking to get my first Sentinel figure with the Modular War Machine, hopefully I won't get fucked too hard when trying to find one online after the Wonder Festival hits.

I wish I could justify buying this buy I'd rather get a transforming one instead. Not that I'm against the non-transforming Transformers action figures, especially when they look like this, but... money.

Also, Drift is still a better character than Windblade.
>>
>>6445616
>>6445617

Fuck why is this so beautiful but sooo fucking expensive. I want to buy him but I can't justify that $320 price tag.

Maybe when they do Tarn, I'd pay that much for him...maybe.

C H U N K. No seriously there's no room to talk about Repugnus' alt mode as it's a goddamn ant-monster thing when the initial bitching was about "hurrdurr it doesn't look like anything". I like him but he looks pretty stupid.

NIGGA THESE AIN'T IN ALT MODE. Apollo's alt mode is neat as fuck but not really... y'know. There. Kind of thrown in like all of Mastermade's alt modes.

Can't comment with as much knowledge on that Megatron as I don't have him but he's not really chunky, is he? Probably an example of one that looks solid in both modes though and actually like the real word iteration, or close to it.

He's pretty damn beefy. Pretty much an IDW or Dreamwave Megs in terms of body design. Big thick trunk chest, big arms, big beefy legs.
>>
>>6445833
Try Paypal credit? They let you pay it off slowly over 6 months with no interest.
>>
>>6445840
He's the Maketoys one, right? Wouldn't surprise me that they pulled it off cleanly. Again, definitely an exception to what we usually see, but a good one (the scenario being good looking alt + bot modes, and being posable + chunky).
>>
>>6445865

Yep, Maketoys Despotron. Pretty much the best Megs on the market now, unless you absolutely HAVE to have G1 cartoon aesthetics at the cost of everything else.
>>
>>6445881
I'm not keen on G1 aesthetics whatsoever so I'm 110% cool with good looking designs over accuracy to an 80's cartoon. I have Rioter Despotron and am super happy with him. From the G1 Megs I've seen, it's a tossup between Maketoys and the official MP, but I'm not sweating it since I don't want either.
