In fact even more simple than the tutorial:
1) Use a dremmel or hobby drill instead of the larger sized shown in the tutorial
2) They make screws with no 'head' on them. The slot is in the actual threaded shaft. So there's no need for cutters or hacksaw.

Someone let me borrow a camera yesterday and decided to take some pics, I photoshopped some blood on him. I don't have a good spot to take pictures so I just took did it my room. How do you guys do it? do you go outside? what about lightning?
>>6428320
Either point the light at the figure or adjust your metering.
Try adding a second source of light. One straight on and one at an angle, or use the lamp with window sunlight or even the room's main light.
If you mix light sources and they run at different temperatures you can get some interesting results
Hey guys
How do you promote yourself? I've got some nendos, keep taking pictures of them, posting it on insta, but I feel like I'm ignored, so where should i go show myself? Even if it means to get some criticism maybe?

$10 LED desk lamp at Walmart and a regular ol' 40 watt bulb on the other side. I should probably get another LED lamp. But I'm a poorfag who has to choose between a figure and a lamp, so maybe I'm not the best for this.

Thanks, never wouldve thought of using my laptop or tv as a light source for pictures. I did use a lamp though. What about white backgrounds? Do you have a complete white space somewhere in your house? Or do you make them? I like >>6429011 btw
>>6429541
Just two pieces of 50 cent poster board from a dollar store, blutacked to the wall and one for the desk.
>>6429541
I don't use backgrounds because if I'm not outdoors I'll use a shallow depth of field and I like a little bokeh but you can use poster board or a light box/light tent which I'm half sure Miniature Krillin is using
The black background you see in that pic is because the figure is in a beam of light so the camera is keyed into a sensitivity that will prioritize the sunlight. In other words there is no background, just the absence of color because of the high contrast. Does that make sense? I'm trying to write this but I'm being talked at at the same time.
Pic related isn't a toy but you get the gist. That's a kitchen island so there's obviously shit back there and not an empty black void, it just looks that way because of what the camera is looking at, the light it's in, and it's sensitivity to that light
Think of it as the opposite of a silhouette
>>6428821

>>6429971
Something I was messin with
>>6429675
>>6429675
Thanks a lot anon, speaking of camera sensivity and stuff. Are there any camera settings i should be messing with? The camera I borrowed is a regular digital one, nothing fancy.
>>6430478
Depending on the camera you have you should have a wheel for different settings. Leaving it on Auto will try to figure out whats best however it can sometimes be "wrong" or unable to capture what you have in mind so you'll have to use Manual mode to program it yourself.
Keep the exposure triangle in mind.
ISO is how sensitive to light your sensor is. The higher the ISO the higher the sensitivity to light but in really dark shots it can produce noise so you'll have to find the right balance with the other two
Aperture dictates how much light is let in. It's the "iris" of the camera. A wide aperture will let in more light than a smaller one. A wide aperture will also produce a shallow depth of field and blur out the background while a smaller one will take in more of the background. A shallow DOF with lights or color in the background will produce bokeh
Shutter speed is exactly what it sounds like, how fast it will take the picture, more specifically how long it will open the aperture for
Its all about finding the right balance for each shot. For example, if you're taking a shot at night, you'll want a wide aperture and a slow shutter speed with an ISO thats high enough to take everything in but not so high that it produces noise.
If its broad daylight and your ISO, aperture, and shutter speed time are too high it'll over expose the image and the opposite is also true.
This one >>6429011 required a medium aperture, very low ISO, and very fast shutter speed
This one>>6429439 was taken in a dark room with an LED flashlight so I used a wide aperture, medium ISO, and slower shutter speed
It should be noted that the longer the picture takes the steadier you'll camera will have to be, so get a tripod.
On the flip side, this one >>6416519 was done with my settings all leaning toward a fast shutter speed
Anyway. Figure out the exposure triangle and check out some youtube videos on cinematography to learn more about mood and framing and the like.
>>6430478
>>6430722
You'll also want to take white balance into consideration.
Basically, color is what light frequencies are reflected back at you and different light sources will produce different types of light which in turn dictate what colors the camera will see.
For example, if you're taking a picture in a room with a fluorescent light the picture will lean towards blue so you can change your white balance to warm it up and give it a natural balanced look.
If you're using a desk lamp that gives off soft yellow light then you can compensate by making the camera more sensitive to cooler colors and the result will be a natural color balance
White balance and the exposure triangle can be a little confusing but once it clicks you'll be good to go.
If you're still not satisfied or if something still won't come out right then just correct it in post. I don't care what the ACBA says about Photoshop or Lightroom. Any actual photographer will tell you post is just part of the process--- always has been.
It's literally the modern day equivalent of developing film. DSLRs don't take negatives, they take in raw color information and then combine them all together which will initially look sort of washed out and grey. Its up to you to "develop" the image in post and dictate what colors are accented and which aren't--- just like how people used to (and still do) in darkrooms
The ACBA's stance on not doing any post is the equivalent of a woodworker building a chair but not sanding or staining it. It just produces an unfinished and product which a lot of American collectors see as they way to do things and they in turn start developing bad habits jut because the ACBA said thats how you're supposed to do things even though they don't know any better.
>>6430722
>>6430760
Unfortunately i don't think I can mess with the shutter speed or aperture. All I can see is the ISO settings which I have on 100, color mode which I have on vivid, metering mode( i think it controls the exposure), focus mode and white balance which i have on natural.
>>6431001
Meter is what the camera focuses on from an exposure perspective rather than clarity if that makes sense. Here's a helpful link

>>6453983
Thanks man, I got them from reprolables. It's called toyhax.com now though.
Here's a glimpse of my setup; it's the backside of a giant poster that has a sort of matte finish. 2 desk lamps with another standing one that's higher up, which has 3 lights on it, all dampened with tracing paper taped to them (my bulbs are all daylight, but the exact temperature is on the box, which I'll find sometime).
That box on the canvas with the tracing paper over it is what I use to block and further dampen the light on each sides of my figure when I do close ups (there's a second one offscreen), like my next pic
>>6454442
The boxes on each side of the figure prevent the light from drowning out the figure too much. I use foil from the front of the figure to reflect light onto the figure so I can eliminate as much of the shadow as possible
Here's another behind-the-camera shot, with the settings I use to get the next shot
>>6454456
>IT'S YER BOY, SHIBITO YO
Some post-processing is used, mainly color balance to get it a tad warmer since for some reason my LCD screen doesn't exactly show me the exact picture it takes. It turns out sort of yellow-er than it seems (and sometimes I spot-check stray dust)
The bright exposure also helps hiding stands, something I had to learn to do when I used to post in the ACBA page often since I don't use dioramas. Here's a (bad) video of how it works: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2WZSs_LYMv8
