Not gonna lie, I'd be surprised if the last two get made. They're nobodies even in their team, people are apathetic to the DJD in general now, and worst of all they're goddamned gigantic. If tarn was $120, helex and tesarus would easily be close to 200, and that's a hard sell.

I think the fact that they have super generic designs hurts too. A robot that turns into an an electric chair or a sniper rifle? That'll put butts in seats. A techno-washing machine? Probably not.
>>
>>6403306
Exactly this, the minicon, at this point is I think the only other DJD character we're likely to get, and I doubt MMC will be making it.

>>
>>6403112

>>6403223

...Go on...

>>6403313

That's not 'generic', that's just bullshit. Fucker turns into a smelting oven, they couldn't do something with THAT?
>>
>>6403306
>>6403317

Also does anyone even care anymore now that they went out like a bunch of bitches?
>>
>>6403324
I would still like to complete the set, but yeah I choose to ignore Roberts fuckery (seriously what the fuck was he thinking killing them off) and just focus on the fact that they're a pretty cool little group.

>>
>>6403326
>what the fuck was he thinking killing them off

...That had to happen. The DJD was a dangerous remnant of another age and it would have to be Megatron to take them out.

It was just a little underwhelming.
>>
>>6403327
Do you have $200 to spend on a literal who that takes up huge a large chunk of shelf space?
>>
>>6403190

I have the same problem on mine.
>>
>>6403327

If it's a nice mold, yes. Or an interesting character.

Neither of those apply to Helex. I think he has one speaking line in the comic and it's about Fly Wheels' feet.
>>
>>6403324
Well, I mean, I want Kaon still, and will totally get him when his reissue comes up.

But the other guys? I mean, they more or less become various shaped boxes on treads.
>>
>>6403331
It was retarded and despite everyone spewing that 'but they were a remnant of a past era' it's still retarded. We have so few cool decepticons still alive in IDW, and the DJD were mentioned since way back in the Bullets stand alone story more than 5 years ago and this is all we got of them. This shitty 4 panel ending. No Roberts just didnt know what to do with them so he killed them off like all characters he doesn't know what to do with.
>>
>>6403332

Thats like 90% of 3P offerings though, especially with the move to "MP all the time fuck anything else" by the vast majority of the companies.

I've heard J4zz is good too, but I can say from personal experience that downbeat is really solid. The only thing I'm not thrilled with are his legs, they're a pain to transform and the end result is pretty fiddly. He's got the looks and articulation down, though.

Overall though, I think it depends on what style you want.

While we're on the topic of shitty nondescript altmodes, kultur's is 100% better if you just leave the turret off. It'd look decent if it plugged in at the back of the tank instead of the front, but there's nowhere to even drill a hole.

Seems like that thing really is my number one beef with him in both modes.

>>6403441
I want his tentaclely delight in my hands already.

Not a fan of his biceps though, they feel really plain.
>>
>>6403684
Vangelus was impressed. He said it's kind of a floppy wiggly figure but not because joints or connections are loose or anything, just that he has so many bits of armor that hang freely, but not in a bad way. He also commented on that connecting hook in the crotch that everybody was worried about. It's apparently made out of a strong plastic with a bit of flex to it and doesn't show any signs of getting loose or breaking.
>>
>>6403471
>>6403466
I do hope this is compatible with Godbomber, still. Pretty much all it needs are two tabs for the Godbomber chestpiece to sit on

>>

>>
>>6403466
Fuck I really like this guy as a standalone. Is $60 too much for a deluxe sized toy?
>>
>>6403777
it absolutely is, and then combined with another $35 add on, the amount of money I've spent on this is absurd.

But I really really like the look of God Ginrai and we'll never know if he will get any love ever again, so my logic says buy it right now before it doesn't happen again.
>>

Ok, seriously. Why not just wait for a 3P God Ginrai at this point? You're paying an absurd price for a toy that isn't even worth half of all that.
>>
>>6403821
So is their Hound. Its nice that the failed 3rd Party MPs like those guys and the UT stuff is going on sale. Here's hoping more toys become cheap enough to excuse the lack of effort put into them.
>>
>>6403837
You certainly have a way with words anon
>>
>>6403836
the only other Ginrai on the market just doesn't appeal to me the way PE and Takara's offering do.

I figure that the worst case scenario is another 3P does make a Ginrai that I like, and I'll sell off the old set for probably not much less than I paid.

I guess it's also worth mentioning that I rarely spend money on toys nowadays so to splurge on something I've wanted since I was a little kid doesn't seem terrible to my wallet

>>

>>
>>6403934

Depends on your money situation man. Personally I usually buy stuff on release and get it shipped over waiting months before shipping some gigantic fuck-off box for the USPS to play dropkick with on the way to the post.
>>
>>6403934
Aero Alpha is MMC so it means the release date could be anywhere from October to next July so I'd just ship cocomone separately.

The main reason I'm interested in the MPM is due to it actually being the conventional cab rather than the cab over truck.

Same damn thing, man. This whole "Takara Ginrai+billion addons+Godbomber" thing is seriously overpriced to the hilt. You really should just wait for any of the like 2-4 full 3P figures coming out, it'll cost you around the same as this $45 toy with $200+ worth of addons, and be 10x as good because it'll actually be made of solid plastic and have good articulation.

>>6404389

Thicchobby's pmop is 14" tall and actually does the whole proper little prime in big prime shtick. It'll probably run around 200 bucks and will combine with a confirmed god bomber figure next year. >>6404663

MMC's isn't bad but it dropped the ball where it needn't. The mask is the most obvious one, but the arm proportions and the cannons miss the mark. They could have done a lot of things with the very simplistic tank that barely resembles the actual alt mode.

Full transformation for Powertrain from Action Robo. The Robot ends up extremely clean. The combined mode makes do with some partsforming and the torso makes a skeleton like Fansproject's that can stand on its own, though unlike fansproject the legs do look just like framework and the cars to make the bigger bulk of the legs. There looks to be one leftover part from the trailer that he didn't put on, but it might cover the back of the combined mode given that the robot head was peeking out and there is a small gap. Unfortunately it looks like the combined arms won't have much outward range at all.

>>
>>6404814
Or this.
Like, fuck, I appreciate the effort to keep the team in scale and all that but how is this acceptable? That Menasor is two arm halves away from being a complete giant robot on its own.
>>
>>6404814

Having an all-in-one Motormaster with the trailer means he has to be way undersized, or the trailer has to be a hollow, fold-able shell. Or the in the worst case he's absolutely massive and bulks out from the mass. Lone Wolf was shit, but it was an all-in-one MM and was pretty much the height of the actual combined mode. Now you could probably make it work with a completely original design from the ground up, compressing and folding effectively, but TFM are translating the IDW design and has to make it work somehow. It makes sense to ditch the rest of the trailer as the combiner kibble, as Fansproject did.

Though when Fansproject did it Motormaster could pass well as a serviceable standalone truck with a short trailer. TFM's cannot.
>>
>>6404834

It works for stability and is a good way to use the trailer mass without impacting the car bots. It's obviously a skeleton and needs the bulk of the carbots to actually look the part. I don't get the hate for it.

ok so I am interested in that flame toys drift but I know nothing about the company; anyone here know how good their stuff is and about how much he's gonna cost?

There is absolutely nothing wrong with the figures that compose CW/UW Superion for the price when it was released. Now, yeah, with late fees added on it's way too much, but if you got him when he came out he is perfectly reasonable for his price.

It's not like PMP, where they took an alright mold, then decided to double it's price for the JPN version just due to some remolds, and then add on about $150 worth of 3P and official shit on top of the already inflated price.

>>
>>6405240
>There is absolutely nothing wrong with the figures that compose CW/UW Superion for the price when it was released
For the $16 each of the limbs cost and the $25 Silverbolt cost? Oh yes there certainly was. Engineering was super simplistic and they basically feel like like upscaled Legends (the current Legends class, not the old Generations 5 points of articulation ones) and the plastic used was so cheap and shitty. I know Hasbro had to up costs thanks to rising oil prices but that was back in the hayday of Generations when we were still getting some pretty fantastic figures with higher parts counts, more interesting transformations and engineering, and better articulation. Oil prices then dropped back to a more comfortable level during PRiD but that's when Hasbro started on their big "kids are too stupid for our toys" kick so they simplified everything but at no point did they ever adjust the prices. Consisdering the complexity wasn't the only thing getting a downgrade, I think it was more of Hasbro cutting as many corners as they could to see just how much extra money they could get until people started to complain and thanks to the primary market for these things being parents just buying something to shut little Tommy up, they'll never see any ramifications from it. Oh yeah, and let's not forget CW was the same 3 Voyagers and 3 Deluxes repeated over and over and over again. Retool it all you want but doing the exact same shit for every figure gets pretty old when you're doing it for every single figure in the line.
>>
>>6405278

>>
>>6405289
Highly likely they'll oversize TLK Voyager Prime like they did with AoE Voyager Prime. The question is whether they'll do an extended update of the mold or simply give it a wumbo with better weapon paint.

The real question is whether they'll touch LC Megatron.

Not really. Most China sellers off eBay and the like are usually thieves. The lower the price, the more likely you'll get a box of rocks or a factory reject a slave woker stole out of a dumpster in the back. Some are legit though, at least...For now. But the prices aren't even that much cheaper. And if you're not in Japan or the US, you're probably gonna get such a deep dicking on prices, so much so you can feel it trying to knock the teeth out of your mouth from behind. >G1 was a mistake.

Without it you'd have nothing you enjoy. It is the definitive Transformers everything. Everything is based on it, any design is just a redesign of a G1 thing. Thats how it works for franchises. What, you think Mickey Mouse is going to one day turn into a panda? No, he's going to be a mouse forever, though with subtle redesigns throughout time. Just like how Optimus is almost always going to be some variation of a red truck, be it hauling truck, fire truck, or monkey truck.

Though I do think they should focus more on toy details than trying to nail shitty cartoon cels from the 80's.
>>
>>
>>6405905

I like it, like most KFC Xtransbuttsex guys. There's something very charming about the super 80's g1 design.

It's a damn shame it's going to be a floppy piece of shit though.

I've been scouting around for a decent 3P Ratchet for a while, hoping to find something in Voyager-ish scale, does such a Ratchet exist, even in pre-production? Or should I just bide my time or look at the henkei Ratchet?

Almost bought Medical Specialist here, but he looks like he's in an...odd scale, smaller than MP but kinda tall next to any other class.

No, they're just titan masters from the current official line. One is Overboard (the lil' t-rex), the other is Sawback. They're really cheap (like $5 apiece), and don't have much articulation or anything.

Theres quite a few of'em out there, and that little t-rex one has a few variations too, different colors/heads. I'd suggest taking a look at the Titans Return line itself too, it's got some good figures in it for the price.

I would, but i'm looking for something in a more CHUG-friendly scale, since I don't really collect MP. iGear Medical Specialist Ratchet seems to fall somewhere between the two in scale, so I was just wondering if anybody had noticed anything upcoming or that i've just missed that would fit.

Though I guess MMC will get there eventually with their current run of IDW characters.

Rickety piece of shit with panels falling off everywhere, whoever put this garbage together didn't give a fuck. Stress mark already existent on the ass-flap that pulls out to finalize tank mode. The panels that frequently pop off visibly have one of the tabs inside looking fine, and the other snapped off, without any bit lying around to show evidence that was ham-handing on my part. I can only assume a bunch of sweatshop children put this shit together and just jammed it in before throwing it in the boxes.

I have it posed in robot mode and am not touching it further. I also now realize why people hate KFC hands, balljoint knuckles are fucking awful and pop out way too easily. Carnifex has it right.

Reviews do help. However, not every issue a reviewer has you'll have, and not every issue you have will be in a review. Unless it's a line wide issue. Like KFC toys always being raw shit and having something that breaks.
>>
>>6406620
He meant to wait for reviews made by people that aren't getting gibbesmedats from the sellers/manufacturers to review.
>>
>>6406637

I don't think that tactic would pan out well for anyone though. If they sent a perfect copy to a reviewer, people would quickly discover a problem and bitch about it. The reviewer would then either realize something is up, or the people would.

KO Megs is scaled with MPP01 so I'm honestly not sure if they'll do TLK Megatron again with extra tweaks. They probably will touch the movie stuff within a year's time when they've stopped milking MPP10. Give or take, if you know a KO collector's shop who sells these, wait it out for 6 months and see if any news pops up here for a brand new Megs or Optimus.

Sidenote, there is tfdreamfactory doing their own TLK Prime, but they have yet to produce an actual prototype mold.

Is Kultur any good? I'm just starting to dip my toes into the third party scene, and after getting Maketoys Rear End and whatever Swerve and Gears were called, I'm looking to start going bigger.

Same question for Planet X Jupiter or Vulcan if I can find one for sale. Also Perfect Effect Beast Gorrira. He looks cool.
>>
>>6407020
>Is Kultur any good?
He's a great figure if you like his look and size. Only real problem he has is that his arm cannons really hinder movement on that side but you can just take them off (I usually leave mine off because the attachment that holds them together looks retarded anyway) but other than that he's good with a simple but fun transformation.
>>
>>6407020
PX Vulcan is AMAZING. The transformation pulls some pretty genius tricks with the tail and the hands, articulation is great in both modes, proportions are pretty spot on, and the design is well sculpted. There's one particularly iffy feeling thing about the leg transformation in that you actually are required to flex a thin piece and that never feels good to do but the plastic is sturdy and was made to be able to handle it and has yet to even show stress marks on mine after dozens of transformations. It may very well be the most well made Grimlock figure every in that scale. If you're sticking to the WfC/FoC aesthetics, he fits in perfectly but if you're trying to go for a CHUG collection, he still works fairly well in a pinch. He's about large voyager/small leader class so he won't scale with MPs if that's your bag. Still, even if you've got nothing whatsoever to pair him with, if you're a fan of Grimlock, you owe it to yourself to pick him up. You won't be disappointed.

I'd say that Vulcun is not perfect. He has some trouble with balance because of backpack, and hip joint on mine is not exactly as tight as I would hope.

But daaaaaaaaamn he is solid Grimlock, in both modes. It's glorious figure, I'm still wrestling with an urge to get Hephaestus redeco just to have another mold of this beauty.
>>
>>6407052
Jupiter sounds solids from reviews, don't have him. As for dinobots, I have Quirinus (Slag), Neptune (Sludge) and Summanus (Snarl). Still no Swoop and maybe Hephaestus, Triton (Paddles) is a definite no because of Neptune.

Neptune mold is weakest one. It works, but stability is awful unless you mistransform his legs for robomode. Also, altmode articulation is weak. His toes for robomode just don't articulate, so he is stuck at the same A-stance forever. For some reason PX decided to have storage for one hammer, but not both.He works overall, but he is prime candidate for some mods. Since Triton is retool of this mold, With flippers instead of legs, I'm not mad about getting another one.

Summanus was next one, and he shows quite some improvements. Much more stable, very nice backpack, better articulation, better joints, and a pretty engaging transformation. Bit fragile, so careful with him.

Quirinus is perfect aside from weak ball joint in his shoulder, which is easily fixable. Also could be just my copy.

Overall, I'd rate them Neptune<Quirinus/Summanus/Vulcan, beside Sludge other three are solid figures.
