Oh cool it's just like in the Last Knight. Next is the part where he magics himself back together.
>>
>>6392495
At least your collar antennas aren't broken yet. I've seen many people share pictures of their broken ones.

Good thing I never fell for the Takara tricks.

I like the goofy titan master vehicle modes. Repugnus and Sawback's are particularly silly and endearing.

It's not just some random accessory though, it's the item which allows him to transform.

No collar breakage yet but glad to know it's something to watch out for. I was repairing a mis-driven(?) pin on his right shoulder. Pic related, at this point it's more or less back together but you can still see the gouge where the machine missed.

At least he was surprisingly easy to get apart to the point I could go at it with a pair of heavy pliers. Left some dings in the desk, but it's all good now.

So, aside from prices, the tlk line seems to beoff to a somewhat-decent start with figures like megatron, hound, and barricade. We also have a new bumblebee and scorn (?) on the horizon. and as long as dragonstorm doesn't have the same issues as steelbane, along with nitro we should have quite a few more figures to look forward to.
But eventually they will run out of characters to take from the movie, so if they end up doing more bayformers versions of older characters, who do you think deserves the treatment?
>>
How is the $20 TLK Optimus? I need something to hold me over until 3A
>>

Genuine question, what is the Takara one missing? Or what are the differences?
>>

>>
>>6392573
I want to see 07/ROTF style figures of things that weren't actually transformers in the movie. The TRF walker and the submarine would probably be cool.
>>
>>6392594

And it posted anyway...

I got Valvotron in the mail today, no transformation and he has hips and shoulder swivels.

He definitely has an oil can alt mode, his back has a sculpted/painted lid to go with the bits on his arms.
>>
>>6392574
If you're talking about the Voyager, it's great. It's worth it. Neat transformation and a good Optimus figure.

Wave 2 is pretty nice. I was disappointed by Prime, and never experienced any version of Grimlock.

Wasn't pleased with Barricade and not really into getting anything else, maybe the remolded Crosshairs and Steelbane for the robot mode.
>>
Are there any fixes for TR Soundwave's gold chest chipping besides buying Reprolabels? I don't want that whole set just for the chest and maybe eye stickers.
>>
>>6392614
Clear acrylic coat right after taking him out of the box.
>>
>>6392618
Any advice if it happens to be too late for that/I don't own any clear coat?
>>
>>6392603
Did you get any confirmation that it shipped? I haven't gotten anything since the "you'll get your figure in 8 weeks pending approval" email. That was 8 weeks ago today.
>>
>>6392640

Nothing, it just showed up. I should mention though I send in a card as part of the "No purchase necessary contest" deal.
>>
>>6392581
Takara one isn't missing anything, they just chose to seal the leg compartments with glue, which is really kind of retarded. Yeah they are just leftovers from Metroplex but why remove them?
At the same time, that is something you can actually fix with minimal effort, where the retail Hasbro one is just lacking the Master Sword.
Takara's also has a different sound chip, spouting a piece of the headmasters opening jingle and a few character appropriate sound bites.
>>
>>6392554
I think TM wave 4 was the sacrificial cow my local Hasbro skipped for the movie toys. We've been stuck on wave 3 for months now. It doesn't help that half the wave are rereleases
>>
>>6392594
He looks like an upscaled minicon.
>>
>>6392621
You could paint it back but it doesn't sound like you have the technical knowledge/skill.
>>
>>6392674

He's the size of a Deluxe, maybe a wee bit larger, but hollower and basically an action master.
>>
>>6387047

They could never do that because the older toys contain way too much plastic. The beancounters would shit themselves in pure, autistic rage.

>>6392654
I'd actually say the opposite of >>6392663

Double jointed elbows, weapons that don't suffer for their seatgun nature, fun transformation, and a fun chunky aesthetic. Triggerhappy is okay but his arms can be a bithch to pose due to the arm mounted cannons. Kup is okay, but his garish colors and hollow guns really drag him down. The Takara version fixes those issues, but at over three times the cost.

Also have a base mode.

After seeing that protoform two pack I couldn't remember if I actually had this Prime, so I had to dig it out. He's actually not a bad figure. Simple, but with a fun transformation that does a few clever things. His biggest drawback is just his neck. Plus his alt mode has a really nice paintjob.
>>
>>6392573
Nitro into thunderwing, hotrod repainted in cartoon colors, hotrod repainted to nightbeat, bumblebee repainted as jazz, hound retooled into trailbreaker, megatron repainted into liege maximo, barricade repainted into prowl (but give him his black, white, gold animated colors)
>>
>>6392495
I'm seeing lots of reports that this thing is a real piece of junk. I guess not all the glitters is Goldbug.
>>
>>6392610
Im glad Voyager wave 2 had two nice new molds, it's the only wave I preordered a set.
>>
>>6392715
>hound retooled into trailbreaker
I'd like to see him turned into someone else. Perfect opportunity for a Flatline.
>>
>>6392717
Wave 3 is up for preorder at place but I'm coming off the movie high. I can wait to find Scorn in stores.
Him and Cogman are really the only two I see myself for sure buying.

Especially after getting the MP movie bots, that was a decent toy budget gone quick.
>>
>>6392723
I would support that
>>
>>6392727
Im skipping Scorn myself, I think the deluxe goes better with the rest of the team, and the AoE dinobots toys really need to stand together as a team to shine.

I find it especially easy to identify my needs and wants for this movie toy line especially when most of them are remolds or repaints of the AoE stuff, which I got for cheap back then.

He's not a bad figure if you get one with no defects, which is a fucking dice roll at best with modern Hasbro.
Mostly intelligent use of diecast, good transformation, etc.
I was lucky and able to get mine decently repaired a few hours after that work in progress pic. Doesn't transform quiiite right because I tweaked the connector out of alignment
FROM VIOLENTLY BEATING IT WITH HEAVY PLIERS FOR SEVERAL HOURS
, but he's in better shape than he came in.

Still though, having to fix a piece this expensive straight out of the box is fucking bullshit.

I'm a dumbass and posted in the old thread

As a noob to the entire franchise (g1 was my first exposure to Transformers, and I began watching it to it's entirety back in January) some of the terminologies and acronyms I see tossed around kinda confuses and intimidated me.

I mainly been getting TR figures, avoiding the headmaster ones for some reason. What's up with the same figure apparently being made by different companies? Or am I reading things wrong?

And "redeco," what is that? Like, a figure that recycles most/all of a previous figure's mold?

Hasbro is the company that sells transformers worldwide. Takara is the company that sells transformers in japan and some asian countries. People refer to them as Hastak collectively.

Hasbro and Takara will usually release different versions of the same toy, with Hasbro usually leaning to more G1 toy-accurate or original details and Takara leaning more toward being show accurate.

People say "deco" to refer to a toy's paint job/colors. A redeco is a toy that is rereleased in new colors. For example, Hasbro puts out some transformer with a toy-like deco, and when Takara releases their version of it they will have redeco'd it to be more animation accurate.

Nothing too complicated, we just have stupid words for everything. If anything has you confused you can try looking it up on tfwiki, it's surprisingly comprehensive on the various terms used by fans.

>What's up with the same figure apparently being made by different companies?

3rd party figures are unofficial figures made by companies because there is a market for these figures that Hasbro/Takara is not meeting. Some are exceptionally high quality, some are absolute garbage. Gotta do some research to see which is which.

>And "redeco," what is that? Like, a figure that recycles most/all of a previous figure's mold?

A redeco is taking an existing figure, and just repainting it and calling it a different character. A remold is taking an existing figure and changing some of it's parts to make it into a different character.

Nemesis Prime is frequently a redeco of Prime figures, since he's just a black/red/teal Prime with no changes. TR Highbrow is a remold of TR Scourge, because it's the same basic figure but with heavily remolded parts.

Hey guys, i've been out of the toy game for a number of years, since at least ROTF. I've recently been itching for a new TF to get just to fiddle with, what's a particularly strong Deluxe-class with a nice, complex and satisfying transformation? I'm kinda eyeying Generations Rattrap.

Take a toy a toy people like, or Classics Starscream, and change the colors. It's pretty much an autism tax. Sometimes it's a nod to a previous incarnation of a character, a new one, or the same one but they are contractually obligated by Paramount to release a set amount of Bumblebee toys in a toyline. Someone needs to post the pic of every version of the Classics seeker.
>>
>>6393163
Rattrap's pretty solid. The bot mode articulation could have been a little better but the transformation is neat and the beast mode is surprisingly poseable.

As for Shockwave, every second you spend not owning CW Shockwave is a second spent suffering.

For the love of god I hope it comes with a toy head so something that looks decent. I love blaster but the cartoon head is a fucking abortion. Maybe there was some frame of animation in the the cartoon where they actually drew a good helmet by mistake and Takara can pack in that as an option.

I've started to realize that my reaction to MP announcements are becoming like my reactions to 3P announcements. When I go "Oh wow they're doing THAT Character?" My thoughts aren't "wow it's gonna be great!" anymore, my thoughts are "I wonder what they'll fuck up."

Maybe they'll give him one of Eject/Rewind and one of the remaining cassettebots will be sold with a Decepticon, still plenty of possible Decepticon tape repaints left.

Eh. I'm not excited for MPs anymore. Basically what >>6393335 said. Fuck, I remember when I was always excited for every MP announcement. Now they're just a horrible tease of a toy that could have looked a thousand times better. The best I can hope for at this point is that every figure gets an amazing, Artfire-tier, "literally who" repaint that isn't stupidly beholden to lazy animation from the '80s.

I really think Takara was better off splitting the difference between accuracy, because very few people, if any, had an issue with the deviations from cartoon accuracy that the Hasui MPs had. Geewunners were gonna buy it anyway, and people like myself who dislike the shitty cartoon animation still had incentive to buy because they just plain looked good. Now the Geewunners are still buying, but there are quite a few people who have dropped MPs ever since they've started to become ugly clusterfucks.

Interview with the lead designer for mpm03, Yuya Onishi

>Before the release of "Transformers / Last Knight King" on August 4th, as for Camaro likes the place where Bumblebee's career is anxious. And better news before the new release. Transformers masterpiece "MPM - 3 Bumblebee" commemorating the 10th anniversary of the movie will be released from TakaraTomy on July 15th.
>This MPM - 3, the world 's topic with the amazingness of making it. As I witnessed the appearance of the standing Bumblebee, I do not think that this is assembled with the parts built into the Camaro scale model.
>"This January, when real items were announced in Hong Kong in the world premiere, it was a pleasure from the fans around the world that I was happy." Transformers designer Hiroya Onishi . In the United States, Hasbro Inc., a toy maker based in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, holds a license for Transformers. In that connection, Mr. Onishi has visited Hasbro headquarters in the US East Coast several times. When entering the United States, passport control declared "Transformers designer" about occupation, and was also deeply impressed by the officer. It is not uncommon to be asked for a sign when participating in an event held in the United States. Even in Hong Kong, again. Transformers designers are very popular worldwide.

>"To faithfully reproduce the image in the play is a mast, it is a masterpiece movie that requires a high degree of completeness as a transformer toy, so I bothered as much as I could breath, and the overseas fans got a weight There was a strong desire to be sensitive to marketing and to have a strong sense of weight. It was severe in terms of cost but this time we adopt die cast parts everywhere to give weight And I made the deformation difficulty degree a setting of 8 years old up.When I touched the transformer toy for the first time, I designed it so that you can enjoy the deformation easily by getting used. "... It will fit properly in the Camaro form It is terrible because it is. If you ask Mr. Onishi, he sometimes aimed for a car designer. "Actually, our company President Toyama was riding in Camaro's Transformers specification limited car released in 2010, and I have also tried it.It is very prominent in Bumblebee color, but also unique to the cockpit There is a view of the world, driving is fun "
>The MPM-3, manufacturer's recommended retail price setting is 10,000 yen (tax excluded). It is a one-make product to be released under the TAKARATOMY brand logo as a universal specification, but although it had significant cost constraints, from the quality it can be said that it is reasonable. Bumblebee is a dream function carried by Camaro. That dream was very realistically reproduced and molded. It is wonderful that Mr. Onishi who likes cars designed it by driving Camaro. Whenever a new work of a movie transformer is made public, "Bamblebee is Speaking of Camaro", it is no longer promised. Mr. Onishi keeps his promise as a designer.

>I find, my inferno tabs better than grapple,
I agree (I own Artfire instead of Inferno, though), but Grapple is a bit clumsy in comparison to the fire truck mold. I think I read somewhere that they actually only share 50% of their parts, and when you actually look at them, you realize how much tweaking they had to do to just to make minor changes to Grapple, since his hydraulic boom actually requires a lot of structural differences to be accommodated in both modes.

My only issue are the ones on his legs, they look weird, but that's only because he doesn't have any sculpted detail on his shins like the original toy had to compliment it, which is Takara's fault for being stupid.

So, while I won't say you're wrong, and the MP line certainly has way more QC issues than it should, especially given the average prices, to say that the quality is "really no better than a deluxe" kind of proves that you're a poorfag who could never even afford one. Not quite. TM heads that come with the leader class figures are all face, while the deluxe ones are face/helmet, meaning that the features are much smaller. That's why the thing in your picture looks like crap.

Eyes don't line up so he can actually see out of the helmet. Plus from a distance you don't notice the faceplate being a bit smaller on the Sawback head because the yellow stands out to your eyes and the orange blends with the red of the Blaster helmet. Plus the Sawback head's eyes actually line up with the visor, meaning it can "see" through it, whereas the default head doesn't.

>>6393746

Wow, that actually lines up pretty well. Still, thats a lot of money to be blowing just for a TM head. The guy who suggested to just break out some yellow paint is probably right, if you're unwilling to/don't like using, a cheaper TM head.
>>

If only collectors weren't so fucking retarded to ask for diecast in everything this shit could have an end.
>>
>>6393748
>Eyes don't line up so he can actually see out of the helmet
That's by design on Blaster. The design on his headmaster's forehead is supposed to fill in the visor. That's why his actual eyes are so squinty. It makes more sense on the Takara release. They made his whole head crest blue, so it makes it look like the blue comes through the visor represents his optics.
>>
>>6393779
>all diecast is evil

Does it take effort to be this retarded or does it come naturally?
>>

I got the final version but there was definitely a line in there from Lennox about Optimus not making it to the final battle. I remember because it was really awkwardly delivered and he just blurts it out apropos of nothing. According to tfwiki though, that was only in the alternate version.
>>
>>6393779
Diecast in feet and leg portions in fine for balance purposes, which bee has, and the only other bit of die cast on him is a razor thin bar that connects his body together.

There's a difference between using it when it's needed and having entire torsos molded in diecast for muh heft like some 3Ps.
>>
>>6393566
>just cost limitations held back what else he could have done
He should have worked around the limitations. For example, not waste so much of the parts count on fucking jointed fingers when the rest of the toy still needs so much done.

Perceived quality increases as weight goes up. This is universal. Higher end bars and restaurants will increase the weight of barstools and chairs to make the customer feel like the item is sturdier. I don't know why the human brain reaches this conclusion, but it does. "Muh heft" is actually something many people capitalize on. A heavier toy feels like a better toy like a heavier barstool feels like a better barstool.

Die cast in the feet, ass, and legs is great for keeping a figure planted and balanced on a table. It has practical function.

Pic related is the most egregious use of die cast in any transforming thing I've ever handled. Most everything purple is die cast, yet he has no stability problems at all and is touted by many people as one of the best 3P figs the company has ever done. You can do die cast and make a good figure.

From what has been leaking out of Boulder, the show is a totally different continuity from P/RID. I think Rescue Bots Academy might be a new continuity as well, since none of the voice actors are apparently coming back.

There have been rumors floating around that the new show is a full reboot of G1. Ark. Volcano. Teletraan One. Etc. Not just a bunch of new characters using the old names to maintain the copyright. (I.E. More like the IDW - ations books than say, the movieverse or the Unicorn Trilogy.)

Anyone get their 2017 LG EX Black Convoy? I just want to know a few things if you got it.
>>

I meant that you could probably count on the Wei Jiant Bee not having any QC issues like the MPM is apparently having.
>>
>>6394050
This is what happens when cartoon accuracy takes over.
>>
>>6394101
Oh.
Why get the MPM at all then? Movie Bee looks best when it's kind of busy, the chest in the MPM just looks like a slightly more complex version of the shitty Ultimate Bee's chest.

Hound V1. They recalled three weeks in to rerelease Hound V2.

Nah it was Hound. V2 they had to replace several small parts with diecast.

I actually got back in with Unicron Trilogy: Cybertron Leader Class Starscream. The next one I got was 25th Anniversary Prime. Then a few of the Alternators(Meister, Skids, and Rollbar). Then Classics came out and I went straight down that rabbit hole.

I don't understand, they might as well had made toys of Dreadbot, Onslaught, and Mohawk.

I need it.
Also, what the fuck is this, I feel jewed that I bought the cheaper one
>>
>>6394296
We've got a dragon that turns into 2 of the knights
then a dragon and a retool of said dragon turning into 2 more knights
and we have a 5 bot combiner turning into infernocus.

But realistically, a 12 bot combiner would be extremely hard to do.
You'd have one for each head, one for each limb, one for each wing, one for the tail, and then 2 for the torso (granted, this would basically be the "spine" as the end segments of the rest of the parts would be part of the chest.
Past all that, it'd be fuckhard to keep combined.
>>
>>6394297
Yeah it's not like they are reusing the dotm mold either
>>
>>6394320
It could actually work, as long as it's 9 (4 legs, 3 heads, 2 for the torso) and it matches with the number of knights that form Dragonstorm in the finally.

Now that I think about it, it's strange that the Dragonstorm combination wasn't affected by 3 dead knights.
>>
>>6394318
Don't, that's just a repaint of the last movie's optimus, so it's an inferior mold despite being bigger.
>>
>>6394323
it's finale, not finally.
and I don't think it was strange, as we already knew with Devestator that the combiner forms are rather independent of the parts. I.E. merely being in the combiner race allows you to adapt to whatever part needed to form the combiner entity of your race.
>>

Is this out yet? I can't find it anywhere.
>>6394326
I was about to return mine for that, so thank you.
>>

Nope, and don't expect it to show up soon, leader wave 1 hasn't shown up yet and Dragonstorm is in the following wave.
>>
>>6394332
Ah, gotcha. Is the Megatron that pairs w/ Optimus out yet (the smaller one)?
>>
>>6394320
I don't think the movie designers worked out an actual transformation scene for dragonstorm. They first merged offscreen then later merged far off in the distance.
>>
>>6393915

I'm packing to move so I don't have anything handy to compare but he's about 6" tall.
>>
>>6394334

It seems like AoE Galvatron took just as long to show up too.

a faggit did this digibash on facebook, looks kinda okay, but I think Hasbro will not make any other decepticon, not at least for the main line, maybe takara retool Brimstone and make Mohawk, but who know, I really want to have the decepticon team

I honestly wouldn't mind that one bit, Longhaul goes beyond 70$ in Ebay nowadays. It's kinda surprising to see how much the 2009 and 2010 figures have been appreciating in price lately, almost like toys that are actually made with some effort actually have a longer lasting appeal or else.

Do you guys remember when Hasbro used to make toys of vehicles that weren't even transformers in the movi? And most importantly, how they were actually good?

What the fuck happened?
>>
The Last Knight is easily the single stupidest fucking movie I've seen since Age of Extinction
>>
>>6394423

Half of AoE dinobots were background characters or didn't appeared at all in the movie, also kids only wanted the main characters and collectors wanted more generations toys, not enough room for ofscreen movie characters.
>>
>>6394423
>when Hasbro had to make toys of background vehicles because they had more screentime than than the robots
>>
>>6394423
I loved when they tried for the movie line. They made a shit DOTM line and it sold shit and now Hasbro doesn't try. They made the scale way smaller but also the price went up.

Now they're afraid to try but trying was what we liked

One is a CHUG repaint and the other one is a rudimentar one step changer that's also built using the same basis as other one step changers. That shit hardly counts.

>"Hey Cade, what's with the C-3PO ripoff?"

>>
>>6394423
>And most importantly, how they were actually good?

I run with the theory that since they didn't have to follow any of the scrap heap character's models and could just make up their own better shit instead, they'd much just do a normal generations figure with slightly more realistic molded details, then add with a weird monster face instead of a G1 face to make it a bayformer.

A lot of the toy only characters are big and chunky, like a regular TF, while the movie characters get nonsensical transformations that barely achieve the desired results and have psychotic molded details.
>>
>>6394423
IDK man, in Aoe they released a very few characters, even the lines for kids had more toys, I mean, Junkheap, Vehicon, stinger, rollbar, prowl there was a fucking prowl man
>>
>>6394423

99% of the actual movie designs were shit.

Designs somewhat inspired by the movie could work well though. Basically right after ROTF - Reveal the Shield and Hunt for the Decepticons was the high point of this. Truly a golden age for Tfs.

Fucking Bay and whoever as Hasbro signed off on the movie designs. 10 years later and we're still paying for it. I mean, who the fuck looked at Megs from the first movie and thought: "Yeah, that's a good looking Megatron design right there"?
