Hot Rod Wars are going on, IF released incredible seekers, and that one company is still making really cool and really fucking huge Headmasters

His vehicle weapon storage is... neat?
>>6388556
I know nothing about this giant Targetmaster/power/head/whoever the fuck
but it looks good
>>6388596
>>6388577
Damn MMC has been miss miss miss lately
>>6388604
Fansproject Cyclonus fucking when. I hate Eligos being my only choice for an MP Cyclonus.
>>6388604
that cyclonus is such a huge disappointment, like Im actually impressed at how hard they fucked up for a company that used to have such a great reputation
>>6388614
You mean Fanstoys right?
Well they've hinted at him so probably 3-5 years from now.
Don't get me wrong, I've never been disappointed by anything from them, but they move slower than an iceberg on releases.
So hyped for their Blitzwing, Sixshot, Springer, and Kup though. hopefully those all hit this year. Their Arcee looks great too.
>>6388634
Comparitively speaking, FT has been doing great as far as concept-test shot-release is concerned. The idea of getting more than two figs a year from them was foreign just a few years ago. Now they're doing ~5 or so which is great.
>>6388641
Targetmaster can't do much of anything. Just becomes fat lil robot. Can't be used as a pew pew in vehicle mode
>>6388664
>>6388666
>>6388668
Why are they so fucking HUGE
>>6388670
B I G B O Y S
>>6388604
I like the MMC HR. And their Megs looks great too. But yeah, the Anubis mold was shit, and certainly didn't deserve to be reused 3 fucking time.
>>6388673
only thing of theirs Im looking forward to at this point is Wing
>>6388673
Tarn is also a recent release that did pretty well.
He looks fun, is he worth $35
http://www.ebay.com/itm/ToyWorld-Transformers-TW-H02-Brainstorm-Headmaster-Brainwave-Figure-In-Stock-/332240241212?epid=1277929430&hash=item4d5b0fc23c:g:-6EAAOSwfpVZKmua
>>6388679
Wing looks great. But yeah, MMC's kind of in a rough spot at the moment isn't it? They really need to just suck it the fuck up and go for accurate designs, or if not, at LEAST fire the fuckwit who made Anubis, and the fuckwit who decided to reuse it 3 fucking times. I get they like their remolds, and some of them work really well, but they really need to learn some things just do not take well to remolding.
>>6388670
In the Headmasters anime most of the new characters were about the same size as Optimus and when it came time to make 3P versions of those bots Maketoys used that as a reference for their size when scaling them to MP-10.
MMC is bizarre because they're capable of making great figures but 75% of the time they decide to put their own spin on a character and make it look like shit.
>>6388683
Well if you decide to go for it, give a report later on.
>>6388672
STOMPIN' IN MUH ERRFORCE ONES
>>6388683
for $35, yes, but I feel like you need to get the thrilling 30 version to have an x-wing vs arwing brain battle.
>>6388729
>tfw hot rod is going to absorb all the shitty juju from MMC's hit and miss curse so their wing mold is free to be a carnifex-tier masterpiece
>>6389082
I think the final verdict is "Good mechanically, sculpt is up to the person".
tl;dr Buy it if you like it, it's solid, not a fucking disaster like Anubis/Jaeger/whatever.
Any "good" alternatives to MP10? I'd like a Prime that looks like Prime.
>>6389315
I heard that the oversized "MPP-10" is quite good. I believe it's a Wei Jiang one, if I remember correctly.
The weapons that come with Master Mades head replacement for scorponok are pretty great. They have handles that universal enough to be used by pretty any figure that accepts 5mm weapons .
>>6389319
It comes with two guns that can convert into a shield, although they only give you enough parts for one shield.
>>6389354
I own one, their Not-Omega Supreme. It's pretty solid except on my copy, the legs squeak something fierce. But it didn't start doing that until like a month or so after purchase. One day the legs just started squeaking and started moving pretty roughly. I think I need some kind of lube for'em, but I don't even know where I'd apply it or what kind to get.
Other than that, it's been good. And I've not heard of this happening to anyone else, so maybe it's just my shit luck rearing it's head.
>>6389354
>What are the Master Made figures like?
Enormousness amounts of detail, color separation, decals and articulation (moving parts, not necessarily range of motion). Loaded with gimmicks. Build quality if second to none. You pay for what you get though, they are on the upper end as far as price goes.
>>6389358
>I think I need some kind of lube for'em, but I don't even know where I'd apply it or what kind to get.
On the joints themselves (so you'd have to open it up). You could try getting some sort of grease. I got some Tamiya Cermaic Grease from HLJ a while ago and that stuff seems to work pretty well but there are plenty of other options too. Hopefully you can fix it, anon, and thanks for your feedback. I appreciate it.
>>6389359
Thanks for the input anon, I appreciate it.
>>6389003
I seriously hope this is the case.
>>6389262
those arms on him are a fucking disaster though
>>6388683
Nope, I paid $35 moose bucks for it at a boxing day sale a while back and I regretted it.
Figure sucks major dick, barely tabs together so it's frustrating to look at on the shelf. Luckily I put it on eBay for its retail price and some idiot actually bought it.
>>6388683
You're better off with ToyWorld's Throttlebots (when they're on special - don't know what the WeiJiang ones are like but they might be a better deal since they're cheaper and bigger). I've only ever had Aurora since he's always on sale but he was really good.
Hey anons, what good third-party KOs are there for, say, under $20 on eBay or the like that you would recommend? Can be Wei Jiang or anything else; I don't mind. I'm just curious.
Also, I asked this in the last thread, but how impossibly hard is it to get Iron Factory's exclusive Elita-1 now and what about Windsaber (Windblade)? I can only find the exclusive version of that on eBay.
>>6389471
Elita-1 was never sold alone. She was came with their IDW Prime with the armor, but only certain ones. Windsaber should be easy to find.
>>6389506
Ah, darn. I'm assuming that'll be hard to find now since it was apparently exclusive. Not that I mind buying their Prime either but I really want Elita-1.
Windsaber seems impossible to find. I've looked and looked but the only two I can see on eBay are of the translucent pink exclusive variety.
>>6389528
Never mind, Alleria (Elita-1) is pretty easy to find, as long as you buy her with Prime.
I still can't find Windsaber though. I must have done about ten different searches on eBay (and I'd prefer it was shipping from China, not the US, for shipping cost reasons).
What does everyone use for faction stickers? It feels weird buying all these $150 slabs of thousand-folded plastic and putting shitty stickers on them.
Anyone have these WJ oversized KOs? Skullsmasher has the leg mod and Hardhead has flaps to cover his hollow forearms. I'm considering HH because him being larger makes sense.
>Check the Chosen Prime Calendar
>Susanoo is delayed by another fucking week
>>6389962
Really hope all these delays have been them shoring up the shortcomings of the figure, and not just manufacturing problems.
>>6389962
>Susanoo is delayed by another fucking week
kill me
>>6389989
Guess we'll find out in the end.
>>6390014
I cancelled my pre-order after hearing about the articulation issues. And the lackluster impressions reviewers had of him.
More work going into pmop. Don't know enough about to the source material to know about the heartmaster.

>>6389315
I have a hunch Takara is going to do a super toony Prime in the next year, and that's an asthetic I can dig (alongside my MP Prime)
Is Maketoys Rearend worth about $60?
>>6390313
I think he is but I love the little bastard as a character so it depends on if you like him. As a toy he probably should cost $40 but he has no real serious issues besides feeling slightly unfinished like he has a bit of flashing here and there but otherwise he's a fun little guy. The Cyclonus kit he comes with is ok but I didn't care for it personally and I dont have the Cyclonus anyway.
>>6390317
I feel the same, I like him a lot and don't really care about Cyclonus.
>>6390319
Ehh in that case it really comes down to how much you like him, he's probably the best mtmte version we'll ever get. I bought the plain hasbro one first but it was so disappointing that I went ahead and sprung for the MakeToys one and personally I'd say he's worth it.
When are we going to have a 3rd party figure of Edgatron? I heard they're making the Galaxy Force Screamer
>>6390327
Kek I thought that was Tarn for a brief second.
>>6389471
Just got in DOTM Voyager Shockwave and I'm sure it's a KO, but it feels like the real thing (save a kind of loose head ball joint). Look up "sasser" or go to where I got mine:

Got it within two weeks.
Selfie time!
>>6390471
figure is pretty good actually, just needs some joint tightening and a very careful approach to the transformation, think of it much more japanese than a flowing movement, each part has to move to a position before another part moves or finishes moving.
>>6390474
>>6390475
fuck if I know why they're all twisting on me.
Is DX9's Splinter (Wreck-Gar) any good? BBTS has it for like 35 bucks.
>>6390277
Looks ferocious! Don't suppose there's any more pics of it up anywhere?
>>6390704
Oh, there aren't. Oh well, will be watching with interest.
Trying to remember which 3P was doing very stylised AOE Optimus & Grimlock, that combined with a second dinobot to make a three-bot combiner; those looked awesome.
>>6390709
Matrix Prime Toys. AOE Grimlock, Optimus, and Slag that combine.
I don't think he's as good as everyone else seems to, but he'll do. I'm kind of waiting for that flame toys licensed tarn in the back of my mind, though.

>the sculpting on the treads is soft as fuck
Thank you. Lord, I thought I was the only one bothered by this. Look how sharp the treads are here.
>>6390814
>>6390819
It's just sort of weird considering MMC's other stuff like commotus and carnifex had some particularly good treads. Kultur's look like they're made out of foam by comparison.
>>6390823
Also, he has removable missiles in his toes because OK sure?
>>6390819
I'm actually bothered that the treads in that pic look borderline flat. They don't look sharp at all, they look like someone wrote in a sharpie on a smooth grey piece.
>>6390810
Holy shit your whole post anon, I couldnt agree more. I thought I was in the minority on not really liking Kultur because of his head, the soft mushy looking treads and just general unpolished-ness of the whole figure. Really really hoping Flame Toys comes through with theirs.
>>6390987
>general unpolished-ness
Yeah, that's pretty much how I feel about him. It's extra disappointing too because his alt-mode is basically a wash from the design stage, so the robot has to pull double duty and it doesn't come close.
>>6390277
Looks ni-
>gcreation
>>6391000
>so the robot has to pull double duty and it doesn't come close
Yep I agree 100%. Don't get me wrong I'm glad I got Kultur and he's nice but he really doesn't live up to the hype and ultimately feels kinda cheap in-hand.
>>6391098
Whats wrong with them?
Well hello there~
Were you surprised at his size as I was?
>>6391149
Don't like the clear red chest, not sure on the sword, but the rest is hoooot. Oversized right?
>>6391152
HOLY SHIT
>>6391138
No fun allowed transformations and their fragile.
>>6390277
Checked. That thing can not come to me soon enough, though I have one concern; is the deformation subline just retooled official molds? The leader mold's dino mode was fuckin abysmal
>>6391138
Their MP IDW OP truck explodes inside into many tiny panels on hinges to form a robot. Comic accurate toy, but transformation is for rare people and some pieces break. But Grimmy is twice larger, so they may avoid that issue this time.
>>6390277
I wouldn't say no to it. I'd love more MP style movie bots.
>>6390818
fUCK yes
anyone knows how much?
>>6391246
MP sized. $140.
Does anyone have both versions of striker manus? I want to see how the regular one looks with some of Noir's guns.
>>6390277
>>6391222
Fuck yes. Wonder how they will do the tail, though. Or the transformation in general. It's kind of seriously bullshit.
And hell, I hope they go ahead and give him a sword too. Always had a fondness for the Construct-Bots sword, so having it styled after that might be cool.
>>6391149
Fuck me i want that now!
How do I get one?
After just getting mpp10 and the oversized KBB Bumblebee, I decided to just keep going at this OS scale. It'll be cheaper, and so far Weijiang is at least making improvements on the Hasbro/Takara molds.
When MPP10 with trailer is both better, bigger and the same cost, it's just silly to keep buying the official ones.
Peaugh looks at UT brawl. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jggDgcw3n9A
I need a good steve irwin bot.
What is there in the form of 3p or KO designs I can make into a steve irwin bot?
>>6391418
>steve irwin bot
Skullcruncher? Fansproject Function X8 Crox, Toyworld Swamper, and that recent oversized KO of the Hasbro Titans Return Skullcruncher.
Or you could use TFC's Mentarazor (Seacon Seawing) and make it into a stingray if you were feeling sick and twisted haha.
He's just so awkward

Don't worry every version of this alt mode plows

>>6391540
Well, can he pose like steve? That is the main issue for me.
So MMC's Rodimus is out but their Megatron isn't?
>>6391726
Yes.
When and where can I get this better version of Barricade? How much?
>>6391749
aliexpress, tfdirect, and BBTS, coming 2026, $185 USD
>>6391749
It's a KO mold update so 25 bucks without shipping price.
>>6391599
I don't think there's many 3P Outbacks.
Badcube Backland and iGear Bushwacker are all I know of.
>>6391910
well, I wish someone would pose backland in a way that he looked excited, as it is, I kinda feel like I need the SXS gears mold in a custom deco so he can pose, badcube minibots look too much like a dwarf in the poses I see.
>>6390323
>Is Emgo autistic?
150% yes.
>>6390313
I have a friend who owns him and loves him, but said friend isn't very critical about things so I can't really give you detailed, second-hand info at all.
>>6389598
I saw them but didn't buy them. Wow, that's nice that they actually tweaked them. I just wish they weren't oversized and that they had also done Legends variations then then I'd be all over that shit. At least they're not drastically bigger though.
>>6390247
>Heartmaster
Unless this is Fansproject making it (and I'm pretty sure they're not making PMOP), it's a Powermaster, or Godmaster if you go by the Japanese terminology.
>>6391149
Is that the Voyager KO? Looks nice but I don't like the clear red and I'm not convinced it'll be worth it.
The Leader toy looks better than the Voyager, in my opinion. Why is everyone wanting the oversized Voyager instead? Just price? Or am I missing something?
>>6390474
That description doesn't fill me with confidence, anon.
>>6390401
Not bad. That seller doesn't ship to my country, unfortunately. I was thinking some more G1 or IDW than movie though, but if that's a KO, it looks like the real deal and I dig movie Shockwave's design.
>>6391307
That's a cool sword. It's a shame Construct-Bots were such an epic failure. I almost think Hasbro would have been better of selling single pieces or doing a Lego Store sort of thing. They're great custom fodder so giving people more buying options might have helped. I think the line was ultimately doomed from the beginning though.
>>6391749
It's not out yet. We just have to wait for now.
I believe his head is still inaccurate to the final design so hopefully they update that before release.
Either way, I'm looking forward to it. I wish they'd hurry up already so I can buy two.
>>6391519
>who's minibots are these?
I believe they're IGear's but I could be wrong. There was a companying putting them out some years back, and I THINK it was iGear, but don't hold me to that.
>>6392003
Agreed. The framing is pretty crappy, for sure. They're almost great, but just not quite.
>>6391519

>>6392384

I was kind of on the fence already with the clunky shoulders, but the price seals it. Maybe I'll bite on the actual drift retool and reviews are out.
>>6392233
The forward range of motion of on those hips is going to SUCK.
>>6392393
Oh...yeah I'll admit I was a bit surprised by the price (was expecting it to be around $80), but I like the character and have a serious love for bots that can wield swords so I caved and preordered it. I definitely wouldn't pay that much for some of their other shitty remolds like Rodimus, Cyclonus or Whirl but at least this guy actually looks good and like the character.
>>6392384
I put a pre-order in because it's going to be a limited run and I don't want to deal with aftermarket prices when he sells out.
>>6392412
he's probably going to be like commotus where hes popular but not popular enough for a second run
im still buttmad about missing him
>>6392402
If it were 2015-16 MMC I'd be a lot more optimistic, but their recent output has been majorly lacking.
>a serious love for bots that can wield swords
Oh yeah, I forgot he uses swords but doesn't have the joint range in his wrists to properly swing them forward. That kind of thing grips my shit on $20 marvel legends, it's not gonna fly on something in the hundo range.
>>6392417
3a's fuckhuge tf5 murder prime can't even do that and he's 420 eagle turds. I don't know why so many sword wielding toys don't have this crucial piece of articulation.
>>6392696

>>6392383
Crumbling issues? What?
>>6392112
Yeah, I can see that. I think there's something about the chest that's bugging me too.
>>6392166
Fair enough anon, fair enough.
>>6392338
And RID did it before that (with Prowl).
>>6392395
Peaugh forgot to mention that the bumper can move out of the way for more movement.
>>6392701
I could add more ideas but the fact of the matter is that these armour kits usually suck ass in the grand scheme of things.
God Ginrai aside, and putting aside figures that are designed from the ground-up to actually have powered-up forms, add-on kits for existing (usually official) figures tend to suck.
>>6392720
Fair enough, I just want more of that type of play pattern.
Chaos Paladin feels really nice to mess with and I want more like him.
>>6392233
Aside from the fact that he tends to have everything before it's ever released, I really can't stand Peaugh. He seems like a smug, egotistical asshole a lot of the time. He often gives the impression of "I'm better than thou". Maybe that's just me though. I don't frequent /toy/ enough to know how people feel about him in general.
It's kind of weird that no one's touched nautica, right? I'd say she's got an at least above-average design, and you'd think the 3rd party audience would go for more waifus.
>>6392264
I wish, but I don't think so.
>>6392703
Someone somewhere got it into their mind that Cynicus suffers from gps but its not that, its that certain parts of his plastic are too soft for the force required by the transformation and this is supposedly only a problem with the first release and not the reissues.
>>6392726
Waifus are a niche market, people just think they're a bigger market because they're often the most loud and obnoxious.
>>6392737
Honestly just going off the figure alone and knowing nothing about the original character, I thought Cynicus was a fembot.
>>6392741
He could go either way since he's so skinny, you could always just pretend yours is a fembot I guess.
>>6392734
Do people not understand how GPS works...?
>>6392726
The only one people are willing to pay big money for is Arcee.
>>6392725
>Peaugh coming off as arrogant
I legit cannot figure out how you came to that conclusion
>>6392726
>>6392737
I feel like Nautica is popular enough to get a third-party toy though. No one is clamouring for Windblade, for example (because fuck Windblade), but I could see Nautica doing reasonably well.
Personally, I think I'll make my own since I'm never going to be able to get the official one anyway.
>>6392754
Well, I haven't watched him much lately but I was watching him from around the time he started. Don't get me wrong, he's had his humbling moments, but sometimes he seems too big for his boots, as if he's an authority on toys of all things.
Definitely some of his posts and such relating to third-party items tend to rub me the wrong way. And when he is like that, which I admit is not always, it comes across to me as arrogant.
>>6392725
The impression that I get is he stopped giving a fuck about Transformers a while ago but keeps doing it for the views.
>>6392752
They don't. They really don't.
>>6392752
I think its rare enough that most collectors havent run into it so they have no idea what its really like.
>>6392737
>Waifus are a niche market
Waifus definitely are not, the entire anime industry is built around them right now. But thats the thing: Anime industry. Thats why figma waifu's are shat out at alarming rates.
Transformers ain't got the same audience as the waifu anime crowd.
>>6392734
>its that certain parts of his plastic are too soft for the force required by the transformation
And what parts are these? I'd like some detail here, because I got a Cynicus second hand, so I don't know if he was the first release or not, and info on how NOT to break shit that shouldn't normally be breaking would be nice.
>>6392770
>Transformers ain't got the same audience as the waifu anime crowd.
Probably for the best considering the panic attacks TF reviewers have when their hands brush over some robo T&A.
They might die if something like this happened to them while showing off articulation.
>>6392770
>Waifus definitely are not, the entire anime industry is built around them right now. But thats the thing: Anime industry.
>Transformers ain't got the same audience as the waifu anime crowd.
Yes anon, I know, that's why I said what I did. We're in a 3rd party transformers thread talking about 3rd party transformers; I didn't think I had to specify that.
>>6392762
I got that impression too.
>>6392768
Really? I mean, basically any pre-RID (2001 RID, mind you) toys that have gold plastic suffer from GPS (and I believe there have been some since then, too). It seems common enough to me, at least common enough that if you know about it, you should know why it's a problem.
>>6392233
this thing's ACTUALLY making my mouth water hot damn.
>>6392780
That's Vangelus though, right? So not really pic related because I'm pretty sure he enjoys fondling them animu girls.

I did. I hope they do an alternate head with the red highlights since they seem to be getting into that kind of thing now.
>>6392852
I like the white head but I definitely wouldn't turn down an extra with the red.
>>6392852
Ugh. Drift is a character that improves drastically when not written by the guy who created him.
Roberts writes a decent Drift. One who's a bit too self-serious and that no one else is in awe of.
>>6392934
The funny thing is McCarthy really loves Drift and believes his version of him is legitimately better; he doesn't see how silly it is.
>>6392940
>writing a fucking weeb mary sue
>anyone liking him
Drift being anything other than a joke is just bad writing. He can can as badass as you want but the second he unzips his katana and everyone is in awe of his epic ninja skills you depart from reality.
>>6392946
Im not defending it, his writing of Drift is laughable.
I really liked Roberts Drift and his relationship with Ratchet in the early issues of MTMTE.
>>6392979
Still better than Windblade though, and I heard an interview with McCarthy that, at the very least, acknowledged that he tried a lot of things with AHM and Drift that didn't pan out how he'd hoped.
>>6392826
>hehe meads hehe
wut.
People are now having second thoughts on MPM-03 due to weak ankles and some QC issues.
If it sells bad then that means no future MPM Ironhide and Ratchet.
Would the Weijiang Movie line be better?
I am a bit concerned that M03 Battle Hornet doesn't have any ankle tilt.
>>6393008
Nah McCarthy is an ok guy he just gets waaay too carried away when writing Drift.
>>6393009
Meadeslemicah the guy who did the review of the panty shot figure up their giggles in between every word.
>>6393029
Oh. Sounds childish, and apparently he copied Vangelus' background idea with the mechanical chain bases. Bleh.
>>6393011
Oh, absolutely. He seems like a reasonable person.
>>6393010
>People are now having second thoughts on MPM-03 due to weak ankles and some QC issues.
Source? I haven't heard about this.
We don't even know how likely MPM Ironhide and Ratchet are to begin with but I don't think it'll sell badly regardless of some purported QC issues.
Wei Jiang's stuff doesn't encompass the MPM line (at least, not yet). If Wei Jiang ever make MPM KOs then sure, they'll probably fix the problems that the official ones have, if any.
>Toyworld spanner is like the entire design team JUST gave up half way through
Apparently its worse than it looks in build. I honestly think the guys that went on to form Zeta straight up sabotaged TW with their Ox-but-not-really line. I guess we have the newest nominee for the 2017 Spinout awards.
>>6393052
>those random-ass panel lines on every surface
So this is what the polar opposite of Takara's current MP aesthetic looks like.
>>6393040
>>6393010
It's more likely that we'll get MPM Megatron and then Starscream right after MPM Barricade if the first two MPMs do well in sales.
The funny thing is that if it does sell well, we're likely to get MPM Jazz before MP Jazz.
On the sidenote,
>TFDreamfactory's doing LC Bonecrusher
>A good Blackout figure is still years away
>>6393052
>sabotaged TW with their Ox-but-not-really line
I don't care what anyone says, I thought those things looked bad from the start, and Springer/Spanner/Shit just proves my point.
>>6393070
And people actually WANT this aesthetic. Ugh. I'm happy with all the various aesthetics Masterpiece has had but I think most people would be happy to take the simplistic animation-style look over that clusterfuck any day.
>>6393101
Sure, more likely we'll get Megatron and Starscream, but I doubt we'll ever get as far as MPM Jazz or anything like that.
That all being said, IF we get more MPMs past Barricade, I really hope they start doing TLK designs because they're just better. I for one would much prefer TLK Barricade over the original design, and TF1 Megatron is a clusterfuck, so we should at least get DOTM Megatron, if not TLK Megatron, since they're much better designs.
>>6393101
I hope for MPM to be HA Barricade with fatter legs.
>>6393108
>I for one would much prefer TLK Barricade over the original design
Glad I'm not the only one.
>>6393110
Still buttmad I cant get anything higher than a 2 star Barry.
>>6393108
They'll definitely do TF1 for nostalgia's sake, skip on ROTF because many of those bots were combiners and repaints, probably skip AoE too because of the humanized designs.
All in all outside of the TF1 bots I think they'll do DOTM Megs, TLK Barricade, Sideswipe and wishful thinking, the Wreckers.
>>6393112
>TLK Barricade reveal
>Everything glorious but his head is too round and bland
>wished he had a face like >>6393116
>Movie rolls out
>Prayers be answered, he has a face
>Prayers be answered, he fucking makes it out alive even after fighting Grimlock
>>6393112
It's just objectively better. No gorilla arms, etc. At least we have the Black Apple one but I hope they fix the head before the final release.
>>6393116
Oh, I'm sure they'll do all TF1 designs, but it's disappointing. Just because it's the 10th anniversary of the first movie, that doesn't mean they HAVE to stick to those designs. Megatron, for example, is extremely dull for the first two movies.
I'm honestly skeptical that they'll even do much, if anything, past Barricade.
>>6393119
I know he wasn't in the movie for long but I legitimately loved Barricade in TLK, and I never really cared for him previously.
>>6393108
TLK designs do not logically transform.
Hence, in the film you see them morph and have parts just manifest randomly Getter Robo style.
Of course, the original trilogy wasn't that much better in terms of transformation logic, but oh well.
I always prefer non-transformables for Bayverse designs, but their sculpts are too complex for simple figures.
Closest things we've got are Revoltechs and DMK, then ThreeA.
>>6391749
They better upgrade TLK Bumblebee too.
>>6393136
>TLK designs do not logically transform.
Some of them do, at least to some extent, such as Crosshairs (though a bunch of his vehicle folds out into his cape, but still).
I'm cool with non-transforming figures for the movie designs but they can make TLK designs about as well as they can make the earlier designs. Sure, there are compromises, but there are compromises with the earlier designs too.
>>6393139
They may as well just do the whole TLK line at this point since Hasbro and TakaraTomy seem to put so little effort into the movie lines these days.
>>6393119
I might be remembering wrong but doesn't he have a battle mask in the movie and that's the more rounded face the official toy has?
Anyone got TFC's Laster yet? I don't currently have the money for it but I want one. I'm thinking about waiting to see how Blacker turns out first though since TFC love to fuck their combiners over at the last minute with the torso piece. Laster looks fantastic though, and it's quite cheap to get a combiner since there are only three pieces.
>>6393143
>bee has qc issues like megs did
>optimus looks worse than the old leader figure
If takara don't quit fucking around then turds are gonna own the movieverse. Chinks love the movies.
>>6393159
Pretty sure he is nowhere close to being released yet, is he?
>>6393175
Which Megs, and what QC issues are we talking about?
Optimus looks fine. Flawed, but fine. The old Leader figure is worse in some ways and better than others.
Anon, you appear to be making a mountain out of a molehill.
And yes, on an apparently unrelated note, chinks do love the movies. In a traditionally white-ass country, the theatre was filled with about 75% chinks, 24% Indians and 1% white people on its opening day (there were about five white people in the whole fucking IMAX theatre, myself included).
>>6393179
He's out now. You can buy him on eBay. Reasonably priced. There's one seller who has him very cheap but I THINK it's loose as it is listed as used.
If you go check out the thread on TFW, people are posting lots of pictures there, with that bad photographer Sixo going to be posting a bunch tonight.

Fuck me, I wish I had the money for it. They had a flash sale earlier (yesterday, for you Americans) but I missed it. Not that I could afford it anyway.
>>6393181
MP bee has some shitty shoulders and some collar panels keep snapping off on several people's copies. I'm just learning this from tfw and the official thread. I don't have him in hand.
Fine if mediocre as fuck is your standard. His fat chest and still shit backpack is hardly mp worthy. I'm sure wei jang can steal the engineering and do a better job. It's been like eight years since the leader toy was released, no sense in an mp being only slightly better.
>>6393122
>Megatron is extremely dull for the first two movies
I dunno, Crabtank had pretty sexy threads and a more coherent body design if it wasn't for his extremely skinny arms.
>>6393140
I'd want a cheap statue of Crosshairs, he just looks too good with that duster and dual smgs and criminally underused.
>>6392384
What's a site better than BBTS to order from?
>>6393122
I fell in love with him through every other piece of media that focused on him as a character
>IDW corrupt cop
>TF2007 DScepticons campaign
>His rather intriguing reputation of being the only Decepticon to never actually die onscreen, outlasting even Megatron in five movie's worth of timeline.

>>6393209
Man I miss Starscream, I wish he could come back somehow even if it was a bullshit way.
>>6393220
If you're in the states try Chosen Prime, Toy Dojo, Captured Prey (excellent customer service but not sure if they have him) or if you want you could order him directly from MMC's store Planet Steel Express, they get stuff more quickly since it's their own shop.
Personally I use BBTS because I like being able to cancel my preorder easily if it sucks or something and now they have $4 flat rate shipping so yeah.
If you're not in the states then either Robot Kingdom or Planet Steel Express.
>>6393221
Besides all that hes actually a good looking character with a beautiful atlmode which is rare in the bay films.
>>6393209
Don't get me wrong, I liked ROTF Megatron, but his arms just kinda ruin it, and the transformation is really weak.
>>6393210
Yeah, Crosshairs looks great. It's a shame he hasn't got a better toy from Hasbro - if you watch closely in AOE, he basically transforms the exact opposite way to how his toy transforms, and it baffles me as to why they designed the toy that way.
>>6393229
Did you watch TLK? He's in TLK.
As a head.
>>6393221
I'm so far behind on IDW (as in, literally only halfway through AHM Coda, but I'm working on it) so I haven't caught up yet and I've barely touched the IDW movie stuff.
I thought he was just captured really nicely in TLK though, and the colours and new design just really pop for me.
>>6393240
Nope I havent seen it yet but thats something I suppose. I take it his head's not alive or anything right?
>>6392112
Nah, Kup has really low shoulders, they always look weird. Chest is a bit too large and the thighs need to be shorter and beefier.
>>6393247
Spoilers anon. I would've used spoiler tags but, you know, /toy/. I personally thought they handled Starscream quite well though. I think I would have been happier if he went out on a higher note, but still.
>>6393262
I also just noticed that the little tabs on the chest stick up in front of his chin and, from some angles, make him look like he has a goatee. Not a great design - they should have reversed the tabs so that they were on the back and tabbed into the chest instead.
>>6393247
Nah, just a graciously continuity-error filled fanservice.
>>6393228
There's those cheap inarticulate plastic models that I have no idea what they're called from other anime.
>>6393281
PVC, I believe, but don't quote me on that.
>>6393239
Crosshairs and Hound have bullshit transformations in TLK which I don't blame them for having.
>>6390323
9001 % YES
>>6393242
Barricade in IDWverse (not the movie IDW, the main G1 IDW) starred in two oneshots, first as a short minor role talking to Optimus and the second one featuring his short-lived adventure with the Dinobots and the introduction to IDWverse Strafe.
>>6393273
Ugh, I hadn't noticed til you pointed it out and now that bugs the shit out of me. Overall I'm still really pleased with him, though. I'll probably still get one, and Kup is one of the few characters that I don't mind having a few of, so if a better one comes along so be it.
>>6393293
Oh, so he WAS in the G1 IDW. Nice. I'm working on catching up but man do I not have time.
>>6393337
Neither had I but I was looking at photos earlier and realised he appeared to have a weird goatee in some pictures. Once I figured out what it was, I couldn't unsee it, which is annoying.
Personally, I'm just going to stick with Legends Cup once he comes out (and hopefully, EVENTUALLY, a Masterpiece Kup).
>>6392706
the chest is too wide for my liking
For $50 this kit is a fucking steal compared to PE.
I don't know why people were making a fuss about breaking their figures. It's just one peg that keeps the purple "light bars" closer together. I'm actually thinking about cutting off the light bars and adding detail to the legs.
The crotch-plate was a bit loose but secure enough. I personally added a pin to keep the crotch-plate in place, but it isn't needed at all. Some parts were a bit squeaky, but a little lube fixed it up.
TL;DR great investment if you want a Generations Bruticus or if none of the 3P offerings tickle your fancy.
>>6393844
If this comes out in the g2 colors I'll probably pick it up.
>>6393844
Which kit is this?
>>6393935
Brawl and swindle look great, but the rest are so greebly. Onslaught legs look extremely bad and don't match the cartoon design of the others at all.
>>6391488
I love how they didn't try to make the vehicle mode realistic, but gave it the dimensions of a toy made in the 90's
>>6393935
I like Brawn and Vortex, hate the rest
but then the other kit I hate votex and Blast Off
and then the Warbotron I like Blast Off and kind of liked Swindle
is there any winning
>>6393985
There isn't because theres a lot of possible aesthetics they could use, and none will match up to some idealized non-existant Frankenstein's monster you have dreamt up in your skull.
I got the toonier colors of him and I love his look, he just has so much die cast. Is there ANY way to lock his chest? After fiddling he always stretches out
>>6391355
Yeah this - also collecting them seems more fun anyway. I got the mpp10 & it's one of the best figures I've ever got.
>>6391152
fuuuuuuuu i need them now.
Do you think pre-order will be nessecary? The MPP10 is still all over eBay.
>>6391991
>Meh, movie Dinobots don't transform in the movies anyway
They did..several times
>>6394015
Not in the latest, notta once (boy that movie was a mess)
So anyone have the first Roadcaeser piece here? I really want to know how he is. He looks good, but thats never an indicator of quality, some bullshots on the internet, you know?
Anyone test out his combiner bit? Or does he even have any combiner bits on him? I haven't seen any pics of a ratcheted nub or whatever.
>>6393982
>but the rest are so greebly
Vortex doesn't look that bad but Blastoff and Onslaught seem like they were designed by someone else.
>>6394062
Transform Dream Wave Bruticus add-on. I got the US version on Robotkingdom, but they're sold out of the US version right now.
Yes, it is around $50 shipped for everything.
>>6393363
LG Kup is great, and headmasters are probably my all time favorite gimmick, but somehow I'm still a little disappointed that we haven't gotten a 'real' Kup, MP Kup would be fantastic, but my luck it would be total monkey's paw and there would be something majorly wrong, or he'd use an entirely faux chest which bugs the shit out of me
/autism
>>6393987
Still waiting on colour shots of IF Bruticus.
Then again
>legends scale
>>6394234
Personally I think I'm going to be in on it regardless of scale, but I do want to see color images. My only other Brut is RotF + Colossus.

>>6394259
So there's
Maketoys
Fanstoys
and TFC
no one likes TFC. He's pictured here and is just dumb looking
>>6394288
I think he has a great vehicle mode except for the fact that it's fucking huge and it's a historically small Jeep
>>6394289
He's a huge robot as well and just meh. Pictured center is IMO the best so far of the MP Hounds and it's the Maketoys Hound. He really immolates the Classics Hounds
>>6394288
Terrible figures like him and preds had me worried TFC was going to go the way of FP. Its great that they seem to have gotten their shit back together.
>>6394293
Maketoys is badass. All around great he just has to much fucking die cast. He whole feet and his whole thigh is die cast, and they'r heavy and clunky. His top doesn't lock into the waist so he has a lot of crunch but it's also easy to stretch him out
>>6394299
His head is good but arguably meh to some, so they have a replacement head they released
Replacement Left original Right
>>6394301
His vehicle is good, good transformation and it looks fine

>>6391519
How is Grinder? I don't like the gray, but the silver version coming soon looks cash. I want to get gim, but the one review I saw of him, he seemed cheap and creaky as hell, so I've been reluctant to pull the trigger
>>6394319
He's fucking perfect. He makes MP8 seem like trash. Doesn't feel cheap at all. Nothing I've gotten from FT feels cheap.
there's only so many ways you can do a faithful Grimlock, so he's not as exciting as their Sludge, but to me he's an amazing capper to their Dinobots.
You won't regret getting him. That I can promise.
>>6394339
Sweet. I've never owned any MP style Grimlock, official or otherwise. I could never settle on one. I don't really need to drop 200 clams on a massive robot right now, but that's the life we lead.
>>6394339
Not that guy, but does the clear chest window pop off to let you get a faction logo on his chest?
I'd imagine it does but you can never be certain.
>>6394509
You have to unscrew it, but the panel it's on folds out easily to let you do so.
Easy as pie to do so.
>>6394289
...he is gi joe scale isn't he?
>>6394134
Agreed. I love Headmasters too though I'm not a fan of all the Targetmasters and Powermasters being made into Headmasters, so I'm really happy TakaraTomy is making the Targetmasters to go with them, at least.
I'm still holding out for Masterpiece Kup. Hopefully it happens eventually.
>>6394015
In AOE? I don't remember though I didn't think they ever did, but they certainly don't transform in TLK.
I still maintain TLK is good (not great, but good). I enjoyed it, apparently more than anyone else, and I usually hate the movies, so...
>>6394046
Laster/Raging Bull? Apparently not since I already asked. Thread on TFW about it has lots of pictures and some feedback though. People have bought them so expect lots of reviews and in-hand feedback over the next week.
Apparently he's good but Blacker (the torso) is going to be the telling piece, as TFC has failed at the last minute (i.e. with torsos) before, ruining the whole combiner.
>>6394312
>that white balance
Who the fuck lets these people hold a camera?
>>6394314
>Hound however I don't think any of them will be up to snuff in the long run
So much this. This is how I feel about Hound right now and so I'm just waiting to see what Takara eventually does.
Stole images of TFC's Raging Bull (Laster) from the TFW thread; dumping here.
Note that Sixo's photos have the toes deliberately folded in because he apparently prefers that look.
Head is confirmed to not move when using the Brainmaster, so you have to use the non-Brainmaster head that is included if you want articulation.
