These are not MP scale. Small voyager ish I believe.

Isn't Voyager-ish basically MP scale for the carbots likes Prowl/Sideswipe/Tracks/Wheeljack?
>>

Sure. It's in the same ballpark.
>>

>wanting MP scale on a combiner

I mean, sure, if you've got like, 5ft vertical shelf space and like 8 horizontal.

But for everyone else who doesn't want dedicate an entire case to one figure and have like a 4ft plastic monster on display, it's a bad idea to go MP sized for combiners.

>people keep wanting MP-sized combiners and shit when Voyager-sized combiner 'bots are already huge enough as is

Why don't you just satisfy your size queen cravings and demand an MP-sized Fortmax already?
>>
>>6370725

I just want the size cap at 25 inches. That's massive. Anything bigger than that is unfeasible. The Ospreem wars as really pushing it.
>>
>>6370727

Honestly anything about a foot in size when combined is pushing it. Where the fuck do they expect people to store this shit anyway? At the size they're going for these figures it's going to eat massive amounts of shelf space.
>>
>>6370731
The people these are aimed at already have the space for them. Right now I have FT Jetfire rocking on my desk til I make some adjustments for him to fit on the auto bot shelf.
>>
>>6370725
I'd kill for more chug scale 3P stuff. MP scale is fun for stuff like car bots and such, but when you start getting into the bigger guys you have 500$ 2 foot monstrosities that are so heavy they break your floor if they topple over..

Are there any combiners out there who don't use any combiner kibble?

I think it would be neat to see a good combiner with everything incorporated into the robots.
>>
>>6370751

Kultur as far as I'm aware is the only Tarn toy made, and he's very good. MMC can be hit or miss but Kultur is certainly a big hit.
>>
>>6370751
He's been reissued like 4 times so his price isn't going to go down unless during a Black Friday sale if he's still in stock by then
>>
>>6370743
Pretty much. I'm tailoring my collection to MT/FP/PE stylized aesthetic which tends to be smaller scale and even that narrow field of smaller shit is becoming untenable. I can't imagine someone trying to find space for a ton of mp combines and titan scale bots. I want to make room for one of the devil stinger/pandinus molds but it's way to big to fit unless on permanent throne duty for rioter.
>>
>>6370753

Not really. Even Hasbro uses feet/hand parts. It would be hell of an engineering feat to get everything to incorporate and it would probably get beat out to a toy that just cheated.
>>
>>6370753

Dx9 hulkie. But that's it.

I would love an original combiner or an alternate cross dimension take of a combiner that sells itself by being designed to integrate everything and taking advantage of that in the design cues.

See, I'd rather they give rebirth to the THS type of toys.
Articualted tiny robot modes that are detailed with optional parts like hands, faces, effects, ect.
Like Iron Factory and who else just did a Starscream, mix them together, make it a bit more MP like instead of cartoon like and you'd have my money.
>>
>>6370773
Hands are seperate pieces. Funnily enough the original only had one piece (head) of combiner kibble.

As much as Quakewave stole G1 Soundwave's engineering. Its a silly issue to have; Shockwave's original toy was really close to fiction accurate, its no wonder two updates would be similar.

Bonus: Favorite Galvy.
>>
Toyworld or Fansproject Dinobots?
>>
>>6370912
I still think Apollyon is best looking overall if you want a typical Megatron-look, but Despotron makes for the best toy.

Never been interested enough in Galvatrons to bother with him.
>>
>>6370912

Despotron is great. But you have to like the thicc style of him.

Sovereign is the best MP Galvs we're gonna get. Takara could maybe do better, but looking at the most recent MPs I doubt it.
>>
>>6370912

Despotron is the best built megatron ever made.

Apollyon is outdated but still looks okay.

Mightron is very bricklike but is the closest to what old Hasui MP megatron would look like.

MP-36 best captures the shitty sunbow model and is as articulated as Despotron, but suffers from poor design problems and can be fragile.
>>
>>6370931

Takara Galvatron would probably look like a jigsaw puzzle and shed paint like dandruff to look 8% more like the sunbow model than Sovereign.

I hate the new MPs.

Hasbro chooses way too dark of a purple, Takara hardly even makes it purple, why can't they find the sweet spot?
Also, is that really painted? It just looks like bare plastic.
>>
>>6370958
Hasbro dark purple Galvatron would be great if it just had gray treads.
>>
>>6371070
AFAIK, Legends only has more paint used for details not fully painted figures like the MP line. I think he was posting that Galvatron to show the color.

No idea why people are so obsessed with the paint now, finer sculpted details always get weird and fudgy with paint over them.
>>
>>6370789
Slowpoke to thread but who is this guy supposed to be?
Scourge becoming a Powermaster or summat?
>>
>>6371072

It's a shit mold. The cannon is too xboxhuege, the arms are beyond wonky, and the Headmaster helmet gimmick is terrible and doesn't work at all. I had such high hopes, which they dashed mercilessly.
>>
>>6371100
It's really so frustrating that they decided to plop Galvatron just in the middle of Titans Return and ruin the head to accomodate to the gimmick. They were so close to a good CHUG Galvatron and just like that fucked it up for no reason.

Like, wasn't the prototype ready for production by the end of Combiner Wars? Couldn't they use it on the final waves or post-pone it or something?

>>
>>6371106
CW was suppose to be longer and they were planning on the standalone Trion and Galvatron before they decided to end it @ six waves and continue with a new line of TR. Without anymore info, I personally blame the sales success of CW has Hasbro now obsessed with making everything part of the gimmick in lieu of actual quality.
>>
>>6371108
Well that, and the obvious Nemesis repaint of an Optimus mold.
>>
>>6371112

I sat out most of CW. I bought Bruticus because he's probably my favorite combiner (though the seacons come close purely on design. Not enough fiction for them).

Other than that it was Ultra Magnus and some of the legends. The rest of the line fell flat with me.
>>
>>6371100

That's actually something I was expecting the 3p guys to do something about... Dr Wu or KFC or one of the accessory/add on guys to make modified arms/cannon arm and a stand alone non transforming galvatron head that doesn't rely on the stupid flip up cowl.
>>
>>6371133

I'd have bought it. So close to making a really great Galvs, but they fucked up right at the finish line. The cannon especially killed it for me.

I've always absolutely hated the "arm straight out, elbow would have to bend up rather than in or down" placement for cannons and guns on tfs.

Actually, Renderform has a set with a new head, extra faces, cannon placement changer, and a BFG. The head is just a head, but it can fit in the chest when in the alt modes.

Problem is that the set is 45 burger bucks, which is just ridiculous. At that point you might as well just save up for a better stand alone Galvatron.
>>
>>6371348
>At that point you might as well just save up for a better stand alone Galvatron.

That's TR Galvatron's biggest issue. People really want to like him, but stock he's just irredeemably awful, and the only upgrade kits worth getting are so expensive you're seriously just better off getting a 3P instead. People need to learn to accept when something is just a bad product that isn't worth getting.
>>
>>6370912
None. All the 3P one released until look like shit IMO.

>>
>>6371676
The only people I can see liking it are the ones who might like a unique 3rd party take on a character which seems to be a small percentage going by how many people asked them on their facebook if they would ever do a mtmte version.
>>
>>6371633
I don't mind how Whirl looks, just that I don't like him enough to actually buy him.

Mainly because I like his character, but the BM guy (whose name I forgot) looks much more visually interesting.
>>
>>6371361
>People need to learn to accept when something is just a bad product that isn't worth getting.

Yet like half the thread is continually creaming their shorts over TR PMP upgrades, or worse, upgrades to the hideously overpriced LG PMP, when they could just wait a little bit for a 3P PMP and spend the same (or so much fucking less, in the case of LG PMP+Godbomber+Upgrades).
>>
So because I have somewhat of a lack of control in my life, I have the first 5 Poseidon bots that just arrived today -- without knowing where or how I'll be able to display them. Will take first steps getting them into robots, and we'll see from there.
>>
>>6371685
>BM guy (whose name I forgot)
His name is Obsidian and he is great. I'm just waiting to see how this one turns out to get it with Titanika, I'm not too hyped about how the legs combine to give him his BM look.

A shame he and Strika aren't used in the comics, though, they are the best and least controversial piece of lore to be introduced during Beast Machines. All this dumb shit about Starscream and the Combaticons when those two would be extremely loyal and are better at the job than the guys that are not only always beaten by rescue personnel but also got chucked into prison for their weekly coups.

So.... 4th party get!
>>
>>6371811

It's still a tremendous waste to try and upgrade a $45 toy with over $80-120+ of stuff, when you could just buy a $150-ish 3P release and have something actually engineered to warrant such a price. It's not like the CW combiners where a single cheapo kit can massively improve something thats already decent by default. The PMP mold just isn't really that good, and once you add on Godbomber and 3P upgrades (and tack on the extra dosh that the LG or Hasbro set costs), it swiftly becomes a question of why you're even bothering, instead of just outright buying a better figure when the various PMP's that are in the works by 3P's will no doubt be cheaper and be out soon-ish.
>>
>>6371845
But what if we actually think the figure is good? What if we think it fits what I want, aesthetically, more than either 3P option?

Maybe I'm just old school, but I got into 3P Transformers because I like retail transformers, and wanted things to help improve my retail Transformers and fill gaps in that collection. I understand a lot of you are 3P exclusive or never collected much official stuff at all, but its something I still have an interest in.

Hot dame thats cool! bad part is now I have more of a taste of third party I want to order more.

So got Not Offs combinder peg fixed. So far big issues I can see is some joints are WAY tighty, keeping screw drivers and lube at the ready. There are also a few spots of sprew nubs and kinda sloppy paint. The plastic it self is not top notch but it feels strong but has that shiny 'toy' look to it. From that I understand this is a 20% upscale of thr normal warbotron.

That's a pretty good price considering how expensive the original warbotron was. For such boring engineering and the thighs-turned-elbow-gap for the combined arms, I can't believe they wanted $90 per bot.

MP scale combiners are based one of two ways. The gestalt is MP scale which means fuck huge, or the characters individually are MP scale which means all the limbs are sideswipe size, and the torso is about seeker or a hair larger size. You can't have both ways without excessive partsforming.
>>
>>6372452

Nice! I'll bookmark that link. I just have to space the purchases out. Something about the seacons just makes me all nostalgic for when I was a kid. The big reason I bought Cyberjaw is because I owned him as a kid. Plus: Shark with arms and legs.
>>
>>6372454

The 80's cartoon employed magic to make things as big as they were. I think partsforming is the best way to replicate the mass shifting shenigans the cartoon did.

In that case basically any of the "Voyager/Leader" combiners out now would fit that. TFC poseidon, KO OS Warbotron, TFC Hades.

The big problem is getting a set without glaring issues, so far that's more or less only Toyworlds Devy if you like OX style, and Also TFC's Poseidon. More or less every other combiner in the size class is fucked one way or another.

How do people here feel about asymmetrical transformations like Rioter Despotron?

It feels odd that he is the only modern transformer I can think of, modern or otherwise, with asymmetrical engineering for transformation. Does anyone else really do it?
>>
>>6375226
his engineering is symmetrical for the most part, the only bits that arent symmetrical are on his knees which makes trigger portion, it's essentially the same transformation as Classics Megatron only without the mass fucking shell, and instead of splaying out the arms you push them into the barrel of the gun.
>>
>>6375226
Just responding on the aspect of RD alone -- I don't mind his asymmetry, but the molding of his leg makes him damn uncomfortable to hold.

>>6375226

I'm fine with them doing whatever needs to be done to get a good 'bot mode and good 'alt mode. That said, I don't like Rioter's aesthetics anyway, but have nothing against it other than that, and an asymmetrical transformation wouldn't matter to me at all.

Browning II does it. But the render was more impressive than the actual figure.

I don't hate it, but it could have been so much better. The robot mode looks sleek as fuck, but all the little things feel like someone was asleep at the wheel when in the design phase.

They did actually. These were initially designed for FM, but DNA saw enough demand to do a Metroplex version.

nah man, that's an old design. 7 years old actually. It was part of figueroas "movie-light" art designs.

The worst part is it's so close to being good, but they just completely gave up on the legs. The thighs need to be higher and closer to the rear and her shins need to open or be more hidden by the hood, which also needs the fucking wheels on the inside.

For fucks sake, the generations did everything better. All the yneed to do is give her not shit arms with 5mm hands, torso joints, and a more articulate backpack.

There's a fucking tfw custom that is a perfect template on how to do it, and they still can't fucking manage.
http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/threads/idw-arcee-waist-joint.1017207/
>>
>>6377225
Wasn't the Gen. one kinda famously made by a huge waifu fag? Hence dat ass. Third parties should do the same and make all of the fembots. I'd at least $80 a piece on a good Arcee, Chromia, and Nautica.
>>
>>6377225
All other Arcees try to do away with either being a complete shellformer or having a massive goddamn backpack, but the tranformation is pretty much impossible without massive compromise. Gen Arcee just rolled with the massive compromise.

>>6377253
One the box set variants has 5mm hands. I don't get why they didn't just do those in the first place.
>>
>>6377464

She's supposed to have a backpack though. It's part of her design. I'm sure once a good company does her they'll just make a ton of shit fold up into her backpack/body.

There is supposed to be a backpack, but there's quite a world of difference between the animation model's shoulder pylons and the gen toy wearing almost the entire car on its back
>>
>>6377476

The Gen toy could honestly just make the hood panels to fold into the sides of the pylons, and fold the hinged white car part at the bottom onto the bottom of the pylons/inside of them, making them more squared off and solid looking. Or just make the hood depress into her actual back, leaving the pylon bits hanging there.
>>

How does drawing in her face with a red pen constitute being a "custom?"
>>
>>6374034
How tall is he?
>>
>>6377519
They've added waist and wrist swivels as well.
>>
>>6377519
They customized her a lot. She's got a ball joint torso, wrist swivels, proper hands that can hold the gun normally, added head articulation, less restricted feet, and a more articulated and partially removable back pack.

It's actually really disappointing that the Weijang Arcee didn't add any new engineering besides the removable backpack. If someone just aped that guys custom in a fully plastic KO with the SDCC 5mm hands and new weapons to accommodate them, I'd but it and every recolor and retool.
>>
>>6377578
>It's actually really disappointing that the Weijang Arcee didn't add any new engineering besides the removable backpack.

I find it pretty annoying that that is the only change they've made. Out of all the fixable issues generations Arcee has the backpack just isn't one of them. Instead of better hands, better ankles, better head articulation, an attempt at waist articulation, they just turned a shellformer into a partsformer and made it MP scale.

I'm torn on this.

On one hand, it looks like a good G1 Ironhide representative, which the universe and CW figures fail to stand in for

On the other hand, if it's like Soundwave, it'll be too small for Deluxe scale, which will conflict with one of the reasons I want a good deluxe scale Ironhide

>>6377544
All we know currently is that he's Voyager scale so probably 8".

I kind of like Allen. Kind of. The plastic is really heavy and durable, but that's kind of a necessity because of how many parts are 'fat chunks on thin hinges'. He's SOLID in any mode, though not too fun to get him there. You need strong fingers to pry apart some of the pegged bits. And you're probably unprepared for how goddamned big he is. He FEELS bigger than he really is, just from the almost-parade-float roundness to his proportions.

All in all, unless he is really cheap, I'd wait. More interested in Saltus myself.

If someone could take this, and make the shoulders fake wheels (perhaps real fenders though?) And stow the real turning tires in the chest, hiding them with the back panels, I believe you can make an MP quality figure of her.
