I can't fucking wait until the KO companies get started on TLK stuff. I want a upscaled and improved voyager Megatron so bad. The leader is really cool but the bulky cannon, hollow arms and wing cape hold it back.

I really want Nitro to be good. I don't want to be tricked like with movie Shockwave.
>>
>>6358131
The worst part is you can see some good design ideas, like the split hood chest, side panel arms, and engine torso. Problem is the detail is so cluttered and poorly defined that you have to go out of your way to notice any of it. I've looked at this poster 10 times and I just realized he's holding a gun. That's all before getting to the human rights violation that is his face.

I also wouldn't get your hoes up for an MPM. New Transformers designs make no attempt to look like they actually transform. Then again, there is that one company that's making a Transforming Movie Lockdown, so maybe it's not a totally lost cause.
>>
Was MP Road Rage actually worth it if you're someone who collects fembots? I want to know if I should be upset that I missed out on her.
>>
>>6358149
Yes. Also you didn't miss out, she's at clearance prices pretty much everywhere.
>>
>>6358149
No.

a) she looked like a dude or just Tracks in drag
b) the mold wasn't very good and received pretty negative reviews all around.
>>

Everywhere = nowhere except on tfsource, where it is sold out.

Both MODES, I mean. I don't have Roadrage, but I got Tracks and Loud Pedal. Liked both a lot.

Oh, I guess putting her on clearance was enough to clear stock.

She's still up on HLJ for like 5500y though.
>>
>>6358149
I got an official one for about $35 and I also bought a tracks KO for $30. The KO mold is better because the official mold has a floppy knee joint (very common on the official). Having paid $35 for it however, I think it's pretty decent. By no means the best, but not a bad figure, just avoid displaying her at 45 degree angles to avoid that weird back/armpit gap and shes fine.

Does anyone happen to have both Legends and Platinum Leader Magnus? I'm looking into getting the upgrade kit for him, but the only one for sale is the Takara one. To me, the blues look close enough, but I want to know if anyone can do any side-by-sides.

>>6358149

I got a chance to mess with Tracks and he was a let down. Those barely bending arms are completely unacceptable on a masterpiece and I just couldn't get into the proportions. I like Rage's red, but it doesn't do enough to look girly to me. They needed to remold the his and torso, which would have screwed up the altmode, so it couldn't happen.
>>

What's your short list of best figures in the $250 range or lower for a child of the early 80s that's just now getting back into Transformers?

I've already discovered Striker Noir and the new Takara Megatron that was just released. Those look absolutely amazing. As better informed longtime collectors, anything else really stand out to you?

Generations Springer is one of the best Transformers ever. 3 great modes, super articulated, great design, and a really intuitive transformation. He's also super abundant, so you can get him for around 20 big macs. He's a must have for Toyfags period.

For me though, my obsessions have been the Beast Wars Masterpieces. They went show accurate out the ass and somehow made it work. I'm super stoked for the toy accurate repaint of Primal. Perfect effect is also making Transforming Optimus/Magnus cabs for their recent Generations toys and they look amazing. If you want something off the shelves, Titans Returns Topspin and Sky Shadow are really nice figures, though they're a little hard to find now.
>>
>>6358160
I don't have comparison pics, but from what I can tell based off the images I've seen the Takara UM has blue plastic about as dark as the platinum UM, but it isn't a metallic blue. That said I don't think the difference in plastic colors would be that jarring.

Where are you buying the upgrade kit off of by the way?
>>
>>6358183
Discount. He's decent, but he looks more stumpy than bulky like the package art. His chest doesn't lock in either and it's a bitch to fold his arms into car mode.

Better than berserker, but not $15 good.

I still don't fucking own him and I feel bad about it. I can't decide on a version of the mold to buy. My biggest question is if the Takara version's colors are accurate to the pic related.

I love the muted military green, but every other in-hand pic of it makes him look the same as the Hasbro version, and I'm not going to pay extra in that case.

>>
>>6358173
With that budget, it depends on who your favorite characters are really. You can get anywhere from 1 to 3+ Masterpieces for that.

MP-10 Optimus Prime & MP-36 Megatron would give you the two leaders/main characters.

If you're not into high end stuff, and you want to support the current line, you can go for Combiner Wars figures. If there's any more still around, they'll likely be on clearance. So you can get a whole bunch for cheap. Or Titans Return toys. It really depends on which characters you like. There's a renaissance of classic characters right now. So much so that they're finally getting to characters at the bottom of the obscurity barrel.

I think he's worth the $15, he's a really fun little figure with nice accessories.
>>
>>6358290
Maybe a bunch do, but I don't. I like my figures to have nice designs, solid engineering, and plenty of articulation. Barricade just didn't hit the first two for me, and those directly hurt the last, so I can't recommend him.

Also, some people just want a figure to have a character represented. I'll never understand this, but if you can't get the Human Alliance, then TLK is the second best.

As others have said, she's still all over the place. HLJ, Mandarake, etc. for Japanese stuff, for example. Easy to get.

As someone who even managed to find enjoyment in MP-05 (and would not recommend him), I really didn't enjoy Tracks because of the backpack and the loose knees (the latter of which is fixable, but it shouldn't have to be fixed in the first place).

But if you can look past the fidgety backpack and the loose knees (or you fix the knees), it's a decent enough figure. For what Road Rage costs right now, I'd say she's worth it for a Masterpiece.

Seriously? That mould is so AVERAGE. The legs in particular are absolute garbage, and the way the weapon tabs into the helicopter mode is just a joke if you want to sit him on a flat surface.

If you're going to pay $20 for something, there are far better toys for that money.
>>
>>6358671
He looks really out of place alongside the older MPs. I really hope they come up with a toy version already.
>>
>>6358681
Are you blind? He really doesn't. Starscream POSSIBLY, but that's because he's a retool of the second Masterpiece mould ever made, so that's kind of an unfair comparison.

I'm still wanting to grab MP-11 but I was going to hold out for a third version, but since it's unlikely they'll make a brand new seeker mould any time soon, I should just stop waiting and go for it after all.

>>6358686
I'm mainly looking at the head sculpts. Megatron's face looks kind of doughy compared to Soundwave and Starscream's mode angular and defined faces.

And I'm still not a fan of replacing silver with grey. MP36 alongside the older MPs isn't close to being a garish mismatch, don't get me wrong, but everything's just a bit off.
>>
>>6358696
What? this is irrelavent to the discussion.
>>
>>6358694
If its any consolation I doubt Artfire is gonna be selling out any time soon. It's a great and fun toy but I think people had their fill with Inferno and Grapple.
>>
>>6358698
It's really not though, and he has interchangeable faces.

Plus the grey is not only more cartoon-accurate but looks FANTASTIC in person. They made it metallic and it looks really good. Sure, the silver on MP-05 is debatably better, but the grey really pops in person, which it just doesn't do in even the best pictures.
>>
>>6358700
Oh, I agree, though he's sold out on HLJ and AmiAmi, which are my usual go-tos since I'm in New Zealand so importing from Japan is far cheaper for me than importing from the US or what have you (or buying from a local importer who marks the price up by double or triple because they're assholes).

Hobby Search probably still has him in-stock though, and there's always Mandarake if I miss out, which is also where I grabbed Inferno from.

Grapple came in-stock on HLJ for a moment a couple of weeks back. I got lucky and snagged it (I assume there was just one left from a Private Warehouse return or something). I need to ship it out this week but I have to wait until pay day for shipping money, unfortunately.

They better not have oversold it or I'll be pissed (though I COULD do with the money back, but that's besides the point).

Actually, I got a 25% off coupon because I ordered an old issue of CoroCoro that they didn't have a copy of for me when they went to package it, so that's a bonus.

Fuck me, I'm rambling. I'm gonna go see if those Haps have put up the panel from TTS with the MP Dinobot prototype yet. Probably not.
>>

>>
>>6358702
Laughing face is face of the year, all years.
>>
>>6358702
Honestly I always thought and still think he's completely silver in the cartoon. Shiny metallic colors convey horribly in traditional animation but just looking at the way they shaded him in the cartoon (when they'd actually bother to shade anything) screams silver to me.

And while I don't mind MP36's colors on its own (it does look nice), comparing it to anything nearby that's silver just makes me wish he came in silver.

Still, this is all a matter of opinion, I don't like MP36's paint and I'll shut up when/if I ever get a toy deco version that comes in silver.

>>6358710
I still can't get over how perfectly they nailed that laughing face. It's great.

Intended colour doesn't matter here though. Whether it was intended to be silver or not, he's still coloured with greys.

And I don't know if you actually have MP-36 but again, it looks far better in person because it's actually a metallic grey, which I didn't even realise was possible.

>>
>>6358752
Oh, it's not that I could only just afford them now, but that I've bought other stuff in the meantime too. For a bunch of reasons, I've had to slim down all my collections including Transformers, so as I sell stuff, I can buy new stuff.

Kind of ironic, I know, but selling off things like movie collections or Prime stuff that I'm not as attached to as, say, original RID or Masterpiece means I can buy two or three Masterpieces to replace each set, therefore taking up a lot less space but also giving me something I'd prefer.

So the short answer is that I can basically buy new Masterpieces whenever I manage to sell enough stuff. I'm still undecided on whether or not I should sell the rest of my Animated collection though.

Eventually when I own my own house and actually have a bit more money, I'll buy back a lot of the toys (primarily the Transformers) that I've sold over the years, but right now, I need the money and the space (especially the space).

Depends. If you NEED a G1 Megatron but you're not willing to pay top dollar for the MP or a 3rd party and you don't want the Combiner Wars/Titans Return Megatrons because they're not totally G1 accurate... then Revoltech Megatron is okay.

It's more or less a typical Revoltech. He'll look good in a dynamic pose but is otherwise severely limited when compared to competitors/alternatives.

Seriously though, you're better off getting a bootleg 3rd party Megatron if you NEED a highly G1 Megs for cheap. Unless you're one of those dudes who insist on getting official merch.

Up until Cybertron/early Classics/1st Baymovie, how good or bad Transformers were, could vary from figure to figure. Nowadays, with some exceptions, generally, you can get any Deluxe or Voyager and they'll generally be pretty good.

In the old days, you'd often have figures which would be hamstrung by their kibble or be perfect if only they had a thigh or bicep swivel. Nowadays, most Transformers have the full compliment of points of articulation and are not as hampered by kibble.

Of course, there can still be duds and exceptions. But generally speaking, one figure's the same as another.

That's my theory, they had to work in so many vehicle gimmicks to satisfy Lamborghini that the robot mode was slightly compromised. Not terrible, but after Inferno I assumed every subsequent MP would be this black magic kibble-less thing of perfection.

14 ideas were mentioned, but those ideas are combined with others to make a singular movie.

In this case only the following are planned;

- TF5
- Bumblebee Movie
- TF6
- Transformers One
- Beast Wars Movie
- G.I.Joe Crossover
-TFs in Rome

>TLK is the reboot pf the franchise,Quintessa destroys every important place in the movies to wipe out the continuity and make room for new ideas and designs.
TLK is indeed the last one.
"The end and the new beginning"
Also,TF Universe Bumblebee is directed by Travis Knight.

Dinobot is the beast wars MP I've been wanting/looking forward to most, but I'm honestly a little worried. Primal was a really fun toy and solid as fuck overall, but it helped that he could afford to be simple. Going from gorilla>humanoid isn't a stretch like cheetah>humanoid is, it felt like a lot of his transformation steps were flourishes rather than necessary engineering.

Cheetor definitely suffered because of how complex his transformation had to be, though, and Dinobot looks like he's going to be more of that.
>>
>>6359004
Agree and given how short the AoE line was, it shouldn't be a surprise TF5's line isn't going to be much longer.

I mean, AoE was only two or three waves across all price points and that shit shelfwarmed for years. This is a problem for Hasbro's/Paramount's projected plan of having a new film every year, because then unsold crap from the previous film will block room for the new film crap.

I doubt that considering lambor had none other than a badge, the main compromise is the bonnet being an ass skirt.

Yes. Targetmasters are always better.
>>
>>6358926
I don't think it's so bad. The extra painted detail on the chest vents and shoulders is nice, and while it doesn't have the white detail around his badge like the Hasbro one, it has the white paint at the waist which breaks up the figure better.
>>
>>6359060
We can't really judge though, seeing as how the USA one hasn't been shown in final colors yet. The black painted head is gonna be the clincher.

you mean the belly shirt?
>>
>>6359064
While we shouldn't have to if worse comes to worse its easy to repaint the head, blob the main face in sticky tack, spray/hand paint around, topcoat and away you go, AFTER unscrewing the faceplate off using a phillips head.

I have little attachment to the target masters which are really, the only good things about them, show and toy accuracy, the price and primary deco are what I want, plus I own hasbro trigger happy already

Cash in on trends. Americans watch movies in the Summer, Europeans watch them in the Winter, and China's Holidays are typically when they open there.

That and Americans are dropping theaters like single mothers. Every Transformers movie does worse in America, and I suspect it will get exponentially worse with the yearly movie format since that requires big returns on each installment. With 200+ million dollars blown just on production, I don't think that's gonna last unless the international market really picks up the slack.
>>

Kinda happy about this. Theaters have been shit or a long time, and overpriced as a motherfucker. Why pay $20 for a ticket, $10 for some stale-ass popcorn, and have to deal with shitheads making noise and sticky floors, when you can just get a big screen TV which are cheap as fuck nowadays, a good sound setup, and make some fresh fucking popcorn with real butter and enjoy shit on the couch without any noise and bullshit?

I will never cease being amazed at just how no fucks are given in respect to the source material in Bayformers. They shouldn't even have gotten the license, they could've just named the films Mighty Fightin' Morphoborgs, changed the names, and it'd be the same shit.
>>
>>6359155
I used to think this, until most of my local theaters renovated to have the leather recliners. They do a good job keeping clean, and I live in a mostly white neighborhood, so I don't get nignogs screaming and shit during the movie. Worst I have to worry about is kids, but I'll usually just catch late showing. Even the nicest home theater setup isn't the same as an actual cinema. Some movies, especially the Transformers ones, are all about the spectacle on the big screen. I've never enjoyed watching them at home.
>>
>>6359165
Bay never wanted to do these films, Brian Goldner probably had his rich buddies force him to direct because Goldner had some weird man-crush on Bay.

Now Bay is stuck with these films and their shredded metal aesthetic. He's either forced to do them by the higher ups, or stuck doing them because if someone like del Toro took over the franchise, they'd do a better job and suddenly "but they had to be shredded, it's how REAL robots would look" gets disproven when Weta does G1-based designs. Bay hates being upstaged at his own game, he's insanely arrogant(see his pissy anger when Hugo Weaving said "I voiced Megatron for the paycheck and never even watched the film").

There's nothing that compares to watching stuff in the theater. I don't know what kind of assholes go to the theaters most people've been to, but I don't ever seem to have any of these issues. People are generally polite and quiet through the theater, or at least sit far enough apart that you can't hear them whisper. It's cozy and cool. If I were at home I'd be too distracted by other shit, and it's way more expensive.

Ego is not why Bay keeps doing the films, as Paramount would probably shelf the movie series indefinitely if Bay said "fuck it" and walked away.

They force Bay to do the Transformers films by threatening to blackball him and refusing to greenlight any future films by Bay.

Case in point: For years Bay wanted to make "Pain and Gain" and got Paramount to secure the rights to the book about the whole sordid real life event the movie is based upon. Bay was ready to leave the Transformer films, to the relief of EVERYONE Bay included, when Paramount told him point blank: "No fucking way are you leaving the Transformers franchise! If you don't do Transformers 3, you'll never get to make Pain and Gain EVER!"

And they did the same thing with Transformers 4; at which point Bay was at least about to convince Paramount to let him cast P&G star Mark Walberg as the new male lead, so that he'd have at least someone on set that would remind him that he has to make the film in order to do films he gives a shit about.

until Paramount told him "fuck you, you'll going to do Tras

Ya know, this might feel like "more of the same " for many, which is a given because Bay is at the helm of this yet again...but if there's ONE thing that's evident from all the tv spots and trailers we've gotten, is that they're really delving into TF lore in this one...as in going really deep. Almost everything in the movie has something heavily to do with TF involvement. This is a VAST improvement on the first trilogy usually having Sam and the transformers stories be completely separate only for Sam to bullshit his way into their business.

Something AOE got so right I'm so happy to see be greatly improved on in this flick is that the transformers are officially not in the background anymore. Hard to say for the decepticons but it seems any new robot is gonna get a good bit of screen time and characterization. And there's still a lot more we don't know. And the marketing team has been on. Point. For the first time in a LONG time when it comes to movies in general i don't feel like I have to shade myself from all the media we have coming be it tv spots or posters because they're keeping a lot of stuff under wraps. They seem to be feeding us the stuff we might need to know now and keeping anything else as a surprise for when this movie drops in a few weeks.

All that said, I have to say I'm thoroughly impressed already by the differences between the last films to this one going all the way down to marketing. These films might not be perfect but this one really feels like it has a high level of fan service (at least the movie fans) in giving way more robot screen time and focusing the storyline on being as TF related as possible. None of this college/trying to find a job pointlessness.
>>
>>6359243
It seems that way, but the actual reason is that Simon Furman is a sperg that doesn't believe that giant space robots shouldn't have females - as if gender is the most contrived thing about the Transformers.

So when they were mandated to put Arcee in, they had to think of an equally contrived reason. Eventually, when they needed to put even more female characters in, they relented and used the same story hook as Green Lantern's guardians - all the women fucked off millions of years ago to form another colony.

>The designers should be allowed to take liberties and make a good-looking toy without having to please autistic fans who only want toys if they look exactly like something else.

That's exactly what was wrong with 3p for years and are just now abandoning it.
>>
>>6359425
I agree. I didn't care about turd party for years since they made ugly designs that didn't look like who they claimed it was.

Now that they're making more accurate designs, I feel more a desire to give them my money.

He said "good-looking".

I think the dinobot war made a lot of them wake up thankfully.

So where are we right now in terms of Arcee being a tranny?

I heard Elita-1 was explained by being from a different colony than Cybertron sort of how Chromia, Nautica, and Windblade are from a planet of almost all fembots.
>>
>>6359459
It might or not get a retcon a couple issues from now because has a focus on Arcee's past. Common speculation might be that Arcee was always a female, just reprogrammed to think she was male when the cleansing happened, and Jhiaxus simply awoke her true personality.

i bet that underage people probably even never heard of beast wars

I see. Jesus Christ. How terrifying that they allowed shit like that slide due to some sperg.

>>6359471
There is literally nothing wrong with allowing anything. Is a work of fiction.

Except for Smokescreen and Wheeljack, which have overtly toy decos, yeah it's really been more of a fusion of the vehicle's aesthetics and the cartoon model.

Anime color Alert had the unpainted badge as well. I guess they just don't really give a shit.

Still, when I get Sunstreaker that things gonne be painted.

No, they shouldn't. Accuracy sells. Get over it.

I feel like an Idiot for skipping Ginrai. I thought I could resist getting him and godbomber but now that perfect effect is doing transforming cabs I need to find them.

>implying the early MPs didn't sell because they were slightly inaccurate
Nigga what? Nobody even had an issue with it until we starting getting the new garbage.
>>
>>6359507
He's getting released in a BBTS exclusive box set.
>>
>>6359508
Not really, what we've been getting has always been animation accurate to some extent because the cartoon has been just one of their references for designing the MPs, and not the only thing that matters to them like now.

You're right though. I've been seeing a lot more people complaining about the lack of detail than I have seen accuracyfags complaining about details that were never drawn in by their korean animator gods.

How about you research the subject or shut up for good, you dumbshit? The new cartoon accurate MPs have been reported to be the best selling MPs ever. Get your facts straight, fucking idiot.
